THIS SCHOOL DISCRIMINATES AGAINST DISABLE CHILDREN ---On the morning of August 8, I spoke with Ms…read more Laura and the infant room teacher, Ms. Shanane, regarding my 1 year old son arriving later than usual, around 11:00 a.m., due to a possible low-grade fever. I explained that I wanted to ensure he was not exhibiting any symptoms of illness before bringing him into daycare, to avoid any risk of exposing other children and staff. Upon arrival, I was told that my son late entry had disrupted the classroom routine. I acknowledged their concern but explained that my decision was based on a valid health consideration. Despite my explanation, Ms. Laura proceeded to make several inappropriate remarks. She stated that my son's need for additional care was due to his disabilities, implying that this made him an inconvenience to both herself and the classroom teacher. She further claimed that she had missed her lunch because she was assisting with feeding in my son's classroom. These statements were discriminatory, unprofessional, and contrary to the principles of inclusivity and equal treatment expected of a licensed childcare provider. Later that same day, I was informed that my son was being removed from the program. This decision appears to be directly connected to my earlier concerns and the accommodations my son requires, which constitutes discrimination Laura may convince you to enroll your child, but doing so would be a serious mistake. She conducts herself unprofessionally, and I regret not recognizing the warning signs sooner. If you truly value your children's well-being, I strongly urge you NOT to enroll them here. Update- I was informed via phone call after hours that my son could not return to the program--without any prior warnings--another clear sign of retaliation based on my feedback. In addition, my 3-year-old daughter attended a single test day because the PRE-K 3 class lacked a structured curriculum. I expressed my disappointment, and Ms. Laura and I agreed my daughter could try the daycare for a day to see if it was a good fit. However, during the same call in which I was told my son could no longer attend, I was also informed that they intended to charge me two weeks' tuition. I had to correct Ms. Laura and another representative, reminding them that I had already paid $50 for the test day. This was yet another attempt by the establishment to retaliate against me for sharing my honest feedback. Updated: The owner's reply below is a clear attempt to deflect from the real issue. My child was discriminated against because of his disability. After just one day of arriving after 9 a.m. due to a possible illness, I was told my son could no longer return--without any prior warning or history of issues. Here's the full timeline: * Monday: My son arrived at 8:00 a.m., but I was informed his teacher would not arrive until 8:30 a.m. I chose to stay until she arrived because otherwise my son--who is not walking--would have been placed in a room with older children, which is unsafe. * Tuesday: I arrived at 8:30 a.m. to ensure his teacher was present before leaving him. * Wednesday & Thursday: My son had therapy appointments, which had been discussed and disclosed before enrollment, so he arrived after 11:00 a.m. both days. * Friday: My son arrived later than usual due to a possible illness. Once I confirmed he was well, I brought him to school. Despite this reasonable and pre-discussed schedule, my son was removed from the program entirely--clear retaliation rooted in discrimination against his disability. if the owner really cared she would have reached out for details before replying.

The only reason why my child stayed at this school is because the GA-Prel program is amazing and her Teachers Ms.Gabby and Ms.Lynda are very good at their job protecting and watching over my child. The staff doesn't communicate with each other at all. I have had multiple incidents and the director (JaNice) reponds with "I'll have you removed, why are your kind so difficult." when it comes to speaking up for your kid! Needlless to say, enrolli your child is at your own risk but just because a school had "academy and God incorporated" into their schools does make them the best school or the school for your child.

So my son went to the Covington location starting in August until about a week ago. They have been…read morereaching out to me about his behavior, mind you, he just turned 3 years on last month. Anytime they reached out to let me know what he was doing, I was more than welcoming to talk with my son, model the behavior that was desired and show him videos so that I could collaborate with the teacher. He was doing normal 3 year old things like tantrums and not getting his way so he was getting upset. The teacher, Amanda, would tell me how much she loves my son and how she loves having him in her class to my face but would tell the current director(who by the way is new because it was not the director I signed my child up with) that he was so horrible that she would need a break from the class. I literally heard her on a voicemail that was left with her saying negative things about my son before the Director starting talking to my voicemail. It seems like you're in the wrong field if you expect all kids to have "perfect" behavior at all times! Children are not a once size fits all type of thing and every child is different and should be approached differently. And again, MY CHILD JUST TURNED 3. He's still learning! It seems like this has been a trend over time from reading other reviews. Anyway, the director called me last week to let me know about my child's behavior and that someone needed to come pick him up for the day. My bf went to pick him up and he was told they don't want him back. Now, as an educator and a parent, I called back to advocate for my son because I do actually like the school. She was willing to allow me to take my son to the pediatrician an would have a discussion the following week because they didn't want him back for the rest of the week, ok cool, that's fine. So after I took him and the Dr told me it was typical toddler behavior, I called her to let her know strategies I use at home. She let me go on and talk to which she responded they don't want him back. The communication was terrible and I don't appreciate any of those people at that school trying to villainize my son when HE'S A TODDLER LEARNING! Not a teenager, but a baby! I would NEVER recommend this school to ANYONE! And if your child does not have the perfect behavior, don't even apply! I will leave them with a piece of advice as a veteran educator: Put your teachers in training so the can learn to deal with less than perfect behavior so they don't have to "got take a break." When you work in a school district in an urban setting, come back to me and let me know about how much of a "break" you need!!! Thanks for this Ted Talk.

It is a private facility, not part of a chain, and therefore any issue you have is addressed on-site, not by some corporate manager in another city. My kids began going to this center at 8 weeks of age and I have been nothing but pleased with their care. They now ride the after-school care bus and are 10 and 7 years old. That's a lot of experience with this center! There are days when I arrive to pick them up and am greeted by my child saying, "Aw Mom, do I have to leave now?" How often does that happen anywhere else? This staff takes the time to KNOW your child. As infants, I would receive daily reports on how much formula they ate, and even their diaper habits for that day. Now that they're older, I know that there is a homework hour where quiet time is observed and each child is expected to do their work. Teachers are there for any needed assistance. They stress creativity, MANNERS, respect, and community. I love the field trips they offer, especially during the breaks when it could get dull for an older child. We've been to the Atlanta Zoo, Stone Mountain, Turner Field, the World of Coke, and even Waffle House, I Spy Museum, and Atlanta Motor Speedway. The prices are reasonable and very comparable to any others you would find in this area. Discounts are given for multiple children enrolled in the center. You also get "vacation" weeks during the year with decreased tuition if your family is out of town. I never feel pressured or intimidated when I approach a staff member or the owners and directors. Please visit this place and see for yourself what you think of these great folks. I'm sure my kids will be one of the smiling ones.
