Bi-lingual Immersion: We've had three kids go through the school and the bilingual immersion program (starting at Georgia Brown Elementary) and we are very please with the results all the Manatt the high school to pass their AP exams in Spanish. Teachers and Administration: We found the teachers and the administration to be very helpful. As long as we are involved as parents we had no issues at the school. We are especially appreciative of the teachers that are part of the bilingual immersion program. They put extra effort into helping the kids retain their Spanish from the elementary school program and prepare them for High School AP Spanish. School facilities: The school has been recently renovated due to an earthquake. The students are now in mostly all brand-new classrooms. Recommend the school, especially if your are an involved parent and your kids came from the Georgia Brown Bi-lingual Immersion Program.

My 2 oldest have even chosen to continue the Spanish program in middle school and plan to earn the state biliteracy seal by the end of high school! The teachers are great and communicate very well when you need them. My kids have always loved every teacher they've had there. The office staff treats you you with respect and helps you with whatever you need. There are many opportunities for parents to help out and volunteer, to become involved with the kids and the school. We are glad we chose to place all 4 of our kids at Georgia Brown for their early education.

My daughter had amazing teachers, and I really wanted her to embrace the Spanish language. However, I decided to transfer her to Pat Butler where I was going to send my son who had speech issues because I wanted him to just learn English. What I discovered in changing schools is how dirty Georgia Brown is. Litter is everywhere spilled lunch not cleaned up. How is the school so dirty compared to other schools like Pat Butler?-- and it's not just because it's older, it's the people that attend the school. I discovered that they don't do background checks on everyone who volunteers. Sure there's a volunteer packet, but they don't hold responsible and they don't lay down the rule if those are not filled out. People volunteer and are able to volunteer with or without the back ground check/ Tb shot. They are not that organized to openly discuss where the children will be during certain drastic weather conditions, like Pat Butler does. Probably because they just make them all go outside even if it's freezing cold. As far as the PTA, they don't really know how to organize events or make money for the school like I have seen at Pat Butler. They don't know how to reach out to resources for donations for the raffle's. They just asked the kids and the parents to bring knickknacks. Georgia Brown is right across from some apartments and upon picking the children up from school I have seen gross full dirty diapers along the curb side, like the people that live in those apartments live just as dirty. I went to the office and ask them if they were going to call the city to come clean up the streets and they told me, "why don't you call".... so they obviously do not care about their perimeters being kept clean. I will just say I am super glad that I've switched my children to a better school. Of course I love the language of Spanish and I had wished that so much for my family, but not at the expense of the conditions at Georgia Brown.

Local Mobile Vaccine Clinic Site Review: Just the other week, this School joined a few dozen…read moreothers in our county in allowing us to set up a one day Mobile Vaccine Clinic in this underserved area, which is quite a long drive from the City of Paso Robles itself. It is in a quiet, rather remote area, right next to Lake Nacimiento. Lake Nacimiento as of recently only had about 15% of its capacity, so I did not check it out on this trip. While I knew about the lake, I had no idea about this quiet community of a few thousand, let alone a school, and a small shopping center just across the street that has a large supermarket [Oak Hills]. In any case, we arrived shortly before the young kiddos left school and people interested in getting vaccinated started to arrive. We set up right outside the entrance and things went really well. Quite a few people did have special needs or lacked transport to Paso itself, since there was no pharmacy in this town. The school staff that we interacted with were quite nice and it was great that they thought of helping their community with this effort. After finishing up, I did drive just across the street to check out the mini-mall and supermarket. Maybe next time I am in town I will check out the Lake itself, but we typically run late so that we can offer people services after work hours, so at this time of year, it starts to get dark early. One of the interesting aspects of being a Medical Reserve Corp volunteer doing Mobile Clinics is that we literately go almost everywhere in this huge county and meet all kinds of interesting people. Of course, the absolute best thing, is that we are saving lives and preventing suffering & disease. Again, if it was not for places like this quiet school, many people who cannot get to relatively few Pharmacies nor the few Public Health Clinics with the full range of vaccines [or any vaccines at all], would continue to go unserved and unvaccinated. We also have the time, knowledge, experience, and patience to help people understand why vaccines are safe & effective, while also dealing with people's fears & needlephobia. Thanks to Cappy Culver we helped people in this out of the way community.

A small school, with small classes, on a creek, with all of the things i could dream of for a perfect school. Art where they really make things, classes with outside instructors delivering eye opening presentations for the children, a creek to jump in that even has beavers in it! We have done several Mobile Vaccine Clinics here so far, in various larger areas of this school. We have been in the Gym, The Library, & a common room. All areas are impressively nice for such a small, but lovely rural town. We have had clinics here that have a turn out of over 135 people & have exceed 106 degrees at times. Thank heavens for the good AC in the modern Gym! The staff and community there are quite lovely and we always have a volunteer group of Spanish & Mixteco translators to help us. The school complex itself is kind of hidden & nowhere near the main street nor freeway, so unless you know where to go, you can get slightly lost in this mainly Mexican/ Indigenous little town. Out of the many dozens of places that I have volunteered for the Medical Reserve Corp, this is one of my favorites. People really appreciate you at most places, but especially here & other places near Paso, such as in Vineyards, Shandon, & so on. Of course, if you are in this town, you are more likely to be here for the mission, which for some reason, I have passed by a dozen times but I was on my own mission to save lives. While there are a few places in town for food or even alcohol, I am usually quite exhausted after doing a Mobile Clinic. I answer questions, help with logistics, & of course administer vaccines. Lately we have added doing boosters & some Flu shots. Now that we have the newer VOC called Omicron, it is quite likely that we are going to turbo-charging our efforts all over again. I have had a tray of beans thrown at my head once,…read morethat was fun, im pretty sure a teacher saw and punished the kid, but i had to go home and change clothes and take a shower, very fun, They also have a band, PUT YOUR KIDS IN BAND they provide instruments, and i think you have to pay, but overall, pretty cool. The bathrooms are ALWAYS trashed and dirty, and there is LOTS of bullying. Also this school gave me depression and social anxiety stay safe
