This Sunday was the Corpus Christi Processional and Blessing in front of the church at the end of 9:30 am mass. The activity was a very spiritually uplifting event for the members of the church. This congregation's base membership is the family's of the children attending the Holy Cross Catholic School. The children regularly participate in many religious activities here. My grandkids were part of the Christmas concert. It was such a great crowd pleaser. The children are also regularly asked to go up to alter as a group for special spiritual messages during the sermon. If socializing is very important to you there is always coffee and donuts after the 9:30 am service. There is also the friendly well wishing by the priest as the congregation exists the church. This Sunday the school's music director made a direct appeal to the families for new people to join the church choir when it resumes in the fall. If you are looking for a welcoming church where you can meet new families, make new friends in the community and receive spiritual support and guidance you might want to give Holy Cross a try! Rockville Christian is a great church!…read more Sunday Worship Service is held at 11:00 AM. The church is small, a congregation that is diverse in every dimension, and everyone receives a genuinely warm welcome there. I first visited Rockville Christian Church because although the church I was attending in DC was very nice, I was feeling led to go somewhere closer to home, where I could be part of a church community. One of the pastors at my church in DC recommended Rockville Christian Church, so I went. As soon as I walked into the church, I received a genuinely friendly welcome. I found my seat, and the service began. The music was good at the service. Kay Krekow, a gifted musician, leads the music ministry. The church choir is small, but sings some ambitious selections. I was happy that at Rockville Christian, the congregation sings enthusiastically. (I've sometimes been dismayed to be in churches where you couldn't tell whether the congregation was singing or not, but people really sing here.) The young pastor of the church, Rev. Dr. David Chisham, does a great job of presenting the message. He varies his style of presentation, and this keeps things interesting. Rockville Christian Church is part of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination. The name of the denomination is intentionally simple, as are its Mission, Vision and Confession. It is refreshing to be part of a church that doesn't add any extraneous requirements or conditions to what is specified in the Bible. Finding Rockville Christian Church can be challenging, but it is worth the effort! Once you are on Adclare Road, drive a few blocks through the nice residential neighborhood until the road dead ends at the church.

Don't get me started, I'll dilute my coffee! I appreciate that our military, their families, veterans, and our leaders are always lifted in prayer. Suffice it to say, great place for unconditional love and acceptance. Everyone pitching in when someone is in need and celebrating the milestones of our lives. The community service and camp programs for the youth is so important for their development as Christians and global citizens. The kids programs make them feel special and surrounded by caring adults and teens. Thanks to Deidre who leads crafts for the kids twice a month in addition to a separate children's church. It is nice when the kids say, "what's happening at church today".

They weren't prepared to use their own coffee and hot water makers. The service was lovely. The family wasn't rushed. We wore masks except when eating or drinking. There is a school next door. Traffic has gotten worse over time. Depending which way you come, it is hard to turn left to enter the church parking lot. You may have to drive a few blocks to make a legal u-turn.

MVCC welcomes everyone with open arms and Pastor Guy is more than a pastor. He is a teacher, a leader, and lives what he preaches. It's a modern style church with a live band. The church has grown tremendously in the past five years. We love MVCC and couldn't imagine calling another church home.

On January 21st, my wife and I attended the later Sunday service, and were trying to drop off our…read moretwo year old son at the child care. Unfortunately, he was scared and began to cry nonstop. He had been twice before and both times when we left him AND when we picked him up after service he was crying, meaning he'd be crying for about an hour. We didn't leave him again because we didn't want him crying for that long. The child care staff was completely understanding and said we could always bring him back if we decided to do so. We took him into the service with us and all was great until 10 minutes before the service ended. One of the staff members came over to my wife and told her that she and my son had to leave the service and go to the lobby because they were being disruptive. Let it be known that my son was being extremely quiet. He did not cry or talk loudly at all. There were no signs and none of the ushers or staff members who opened the door and even sat us at the service with our child told us at any point that children were not allowed. My wife nursed him on and off, so maybe that contributed to them being thrown out. After the service, the staff member, CT, came over to my wife and I to try to better explain why my wife and son were asked to leave -- something along the lines of how my son was being disruptive and that we should consider taking him to the child care. I explained that we did try that, and he was scared and we could not just leave him there AGAIN. He also said that if it were his kids who were being disruptive (again with the insinuation that my son was disruptive when this was not the case), he would take them to the child care section or the parent care room. Well guess what? We would have stepped out too if our kid was being disruptive, but he wasn't, and if a two-year old is scared and crying, they need their parents. Any caring parent would be more understanding and compassionate than to leave their child when they need them the most. I read a previous review from Christmas week and how a mother and child also went through the same ordeal. The church will probably give the same response in this case: "...there's a child room for that..." and "...every single week people are coming to Collective who are hanging on by a thread and they are hoping that Jesus can help them and we want to make sure nothing distracts them from hearing about God's grace and endless second chances." So if you're a parent who is struggling and hanging by a thread, and you don't have the heart to leave your child crying for an hour, look elsewhere. This is not the church for you. I would also imagine that if you are the non-parent hanging by a thread, the last thing in your mind would be the well-behaved child next to you. As for the parent care room which they will also mention in their reply, we got an email that says the following about it: "Parent Care Room: This quiet space for parents who need to feed, change, or calm down their child is now located next to our Nursery and Check In space, for security and your convenience. While there is a TV in this room, the goal is to have this be a QUICK PIT STOP for you to care for your child, before sending them back to our Collective Kids Classrooms." So, I'm guessing you'll get kicked out of there too if you take too long. So in other words, Collective is saying to hell when the kids need comfort from their parents, let's worry about everyone else? Well what if the parents are also struggling or hanging on by a thread, too? Bottom line, my family and I will never return to this church. Looks can be deceptive and that's exactly what this church is. All show, but when it comes down to it, they just don't care. It was a punch in the face when we needed it the most.

Very clean very decorative with religious Catholicism all around. Nice place. Lots of benches. Didn't like parking though. Trying to find a spot with hoping we wouldn't get towed made us very nervous and worried. But anyways we found a spot and were ok.
