Pastor Jimmy is a great speaker but when your not listening to him speak everything else falls through the cracks. The church has grown too much that no one can truly feel connected. It grew faster than they could keep up with and the people and especially the youth suffered. I first came to the Brook when it was housed within Columbia Mall. Many came seeking God and that small area overflowed into the hallways of that mall. The Holy Spirit began to rapidly fill that Church as He saw fit, By the power of God and His directing hand the Brook purchased property and a building to be able to better serve the people. Fast forward to Parklane Road and eight years later we are in the midst of another dynamic growth spurt, having prevailed during the Pandemic, God is once again stretching our faith and increasing our numbers. We attended for the first time today. The service was good but it was not done by either of the…read morepastors. Loved the praise and worship. The welcome person was very kind and well, welcoming. We are trying to find our home church where we can raise our family and grow in our walk with Jesus and God but we did not feel very welcomed overall. We were not introduced to any of the pastors and in all we only spoke to one person. We thought it would be a bit different. Me, being retired Air Force, and my wife, growing up on Army bases in her youth, have attended churches on many military installations and are used to the camaraderie and welcoming demeanor of the people who attend. My wife and I have also attended Korean-American churches where everyone wants to meet you and the pastors are always the first to greet you and assist you. The military churches are quite transient though and our home church dissolved hence the search for a new permanent church. I'm sure we must've just picked an off day to go. Hopefully as we search for our new church home we will find that welcoming family. The one person we did meet and talk with was very sweet and we appreciated that.

They have an online segment which is useful for those who are still worried about the pandemic. Children's ministry is very good. They really create classes that my kids love to go to. The only things preventing a 5-star rating is that it does have a mega-church feel to it. Also, the preaching is above average with a lot of verbal distractors, that last one is a bit nitpicking for sure. Finally, the worship is inside of a room where the acoustics boom off the walls like a rock concert (they offer ear plugs for perspective).

Word Alive Worship Center is a big bear hug of love. Which made it easy to understand why this congregation has become my family's home of worship after relocating to the area from up top, as the people in the south would say. While on an extended stay this summer I attended service here with the fam and it was a nice experience. You are greeted by everyone and there is no pressure placed on the visitors, to speak or become members, which allows you to just enjoy the worship and the word. Pastor Andre Small is relatable and humorous making the message he delivers more attainable when applying it to one's everyday walk. A great service with wonderful members, and I am grateful that my family has found a church family to grow with. Just A Note: A family that PRAYS together stays Strong Together... Sunday service @ 9am and Bible Study Wednesday evening @ 7pm.
