I waited several years before finally writing this review due to so many bad previous experiences…read more We had been battling water issues on the patio/deck above our garage for years and we threw SO MUCH MONEY down the drain with other companies who all claimed to know what they were doing. I eventually discovered Mike and Pahlka Waterproofing and it was immediately clear that these people are on another level. They pointed out all of the mistakes from our previous jobs and had 100% confidence they would be able to ACTUALLY repair our leak. Their quote was reasonable and I hired them to start work. Now, here's where the story gets crazy... Soon after starting, they realized the problem was WAY WORSE than they expected. The previous roof was based on THICK concrete. After an entire day of demo, they had hardly scratched the surface. It would take them WEEKS to fully demo our old roof before they could even start to replace/repair the situation. True to their word, Mike made good on his bid and completed all of the work for the agreed-upon amount. WOW! 2 years later, it's been rock solid. If you have any hesitation at all about this company, don't! I've never had the pleasure to work with a more trustworthy business and I look forward to working with them again in the future in the hopes that I can help them recover some of the money they must have lost on my job.

At that meeting, we were told we needed to install flooring under the cabinets. After speaking with a contracting friend and two other companies, everyone said that was incorrect. This led me to doubt their professional knowledge and expertise. After the initial meeting, everything started going by the wayside. They missed appointments, were hard to get a hold of, and changed their story. We went from picking out materials to needing another appointment for the contractor to see the home. During the second appointment for measuring and seeing the home, they "measured" by measuring at an extreme angle. The contractor, in charge of demolishing our kitchen, demonstrated no knowledge in how to properly measure (it was NOT an area needing an angle to measure). That was concerning. They also didn't know the business hours of their own vendors. When we decided not to continue with FC Construction, they were honorable in giving us a refund. But when we called to remind them, the owner told us the refund was in the process. The next day, the main company line called and asked for our refund information to issue a refund. So it being "processing" was a lie. I didn't trust them to start any work, so I have no idea how their work is. But I wouldn't recommend based on the many red flags mentioned above.
