The pictures were ok and the price was too so I decided to stay here. I was booked into one of their suites and wasn't let down at all. The room was really spacious, with a really nice, large bed, a large living area and nice en suite bathroom. Small touches like a nespresso machine and complimentary soft drinks were in the room. The room was in really good condition, very clean, light and had really nice decor. (see the pictures) The staff were also really friendly and helpful. I will definitely come back and stay here. The location in the middle of town is ideal! Great hotel, great city!

I had mentioned my husband's birthday to the staff as I asked them to have a bottle of wine waiting for us upon arrival, which they were more than happy to accommodate, and they also wrote him a little card along with some complimentary shortbread cakes and vouchers for two free drinks at the hotel bar. Such attention to detail and going out of their way to make our stay a good one was incredible, especially as we were only there for one night. I paid extra and went for a large executive room (shown in the photos I uploaded Room 201) at first glance it didn't look like you got a whole lot extra, but there is more space in the room, the bed is HUGE and one of the most comfortable night's sleeps I have ever had, and the shower was powerful and big enough for two ;) Despite being in the city centre, the noise level was minimal and the staff were friendly and helpful no matter what time of day, night or early morning we spoke to them! Breakfast was of good quality and had a lot of variety to choose from delicious all round. Would recommend and if I venture Nottingham way again, I will definitely be staying here!

But then I went to the gym, wow one of the nicer gyms, with a good sized pool and staff as well. Plus the breakfast and hotel staff was very nice. If it was the middle of summer and warm I would find another place, but when the weather is mild the hotel is great plus you can walk to everything.

With some staff members not trained well at all. I travel as a professional and this is uncharacteristic of the Hilton brand. Additionally, it's a noisier property. Guests and housekeeping staff can be major offenders. Be careful in the wee morning hours or late at night. Some aggression from street bums (homeless types) wanting to panhandle money. Getting to be like the States (in the UK) with this. Sad but true. I like the UK.

The breakfast room had a lovely view of the turn in the canal. You can easily walk into Nottingham centre along the canal too, where you can get to the cool bars that are on the canal. If you go along canal the opposite way you will meet the Trent river and have a smashing view of Notts Forests City grounds. It's a nice walk too, during which we saw a family of Canada Geese. I guess it'd be a pretty handy hotel for the of Notts Forests games, as well as any of the cricket games at Trent Bridge.

We were there for a Nottingham Uni grad ball, and after rather a few glasses of wine I decided buying the most expensive room in the hotel was a good idea. It was £160 for a night, we did have a lovely big room with a flatscreen TV, but to be honest the best value we got was happening to be right next to the refreshments room. In there they had a fridge that was full of bottled beers and wine, which we made the most of! There we're also a selection of canapes in there. We did try room service, it wasn't great though, £10 for tomato soup and some seemingly stale bread, this was at about 2am though. The rooms were nice, very well kept, the bed and sheets were great, the bath/shower was decent, but for the price things definitely could have been a bit better.

A tricky review, as my "Hart" would love to give 5 stars, but my head is sticking between 3 and 4…read more We were a last minute booking through a comparison website, and the main reason we selected the hotel was because of a reservation at the restaurant. We checked in and made our way up to deluxe room (a £10 extra charge). First of all the room came with a view that was beautiful. It really showed all of Nottingham and the floor to ceiling window enhanced this luxury to the maximum. The bed was comfortable and the shower powerful. However the room was slightly on the small side and the décor was a little dated for my personal taste. Now, considering we booked the room at half the price due to it being last minute it was perfectly adequate, but I would have been disappointed if I'd have paid full price. The staff were just as friendly/ professional as in the restaurant and I'd like to make a special mention to the bar man that we had the pleasure of servicing us. He was a master of the cocktails and even accommodated two fussy drinkers who asked for espresso martini's sweeter, and more bitter than the usual. Breakfast on offer was good, but again I personally don't think worth the hefty price tag of £10. My advice would be don't book a room at full price, certainly drink in the bar, and definitely eat in the restaurant.

I've stayed in some truly awful…read morebranches where their staff haven't been up to scratch in terms of service and cleaning, but this one has been consistently brilliant every time I've stayed. We were given a large, bright, airy room that was just beside the elevators (804), but we weren't disturbed at all by other guests. I had a great night's sleep and didn't have to leave until quite late as the train station is only a short walk away. Also within walking distance is the mall, a number of bars/clubs and also tons of restaurants. The only very small complaint I have is that the hotel only has two elevators. I know not much can be done about this but it was quite annoying having to wait up to 8 minutes for an elevator to take us to our floor. If we were lower down I would've just walked but we were on the second from top floor. Since these elevators are so slow and always seem to be in use, I recommend you request a lower down floor.

The hotel has very nice grounds, and is located in a quiet residential estate near a major motorway (M1). I was also impressed with their restaurant, Blossoms. The extensive menu options, quality of the food and most importantly, they are open all day until 9pm, with room service as well. All too often, I will check into a hotel after flying all night from the US, coupled with a train journey, only to discover my hotel's on-site restaurant is only open for breakfast, and dinner starting at 5pm. The last thing a traveler with my schedule wants is to be required to forage for a decent, relaxing place for a meal after checking in. Definitely not an issue at the DoubleTree. I travel to Nottingham on business at least four times per year. I used to stay in the city center, but the environment is two hectic and the hotels are not nearly as nice as the DoubleTree. Short walk everywhere as well, really handy location, to all the places of interests, to the Castle, the Old Market Square, statue of Brian Clough OBE, the Playhouse, Concert Hall, Theatre Royal, the Lace Market, the Contemporary Art Gallery, the lovely Pitcher and Piano, the Naitional Justice Museum, the City of Caves, and for shopping at Broadmarsh and Victoria Centre, and tram and bus stops to go to Green's Windmill or further afield, such as Wollaton Hall. The buffet breakfast was good, the usual Continental fare and full English, with hot tea and coffee. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with a flat screen TV. Bed was really comfy and I especially liked the Elemis toiletries. Our room looked over Old Market Square. Efficient and friendly service, and very welcoming. Good value would stay again.

The staff are really friendly which is just lovely and makes the atmosphere really personable. I have to say the icing on the cake of this hotel was the breakfast! It left a lot to be desired in terms of cooked English but the continental spread was just amazing. I really enjoyed it. The only downer for me was that being in the City Centre it was quite loud. Would definately stay again though :)
