I recently took my daughter here for a back-to-school trim, and will never EVER go back to Snip-Its. Nothing wrong with them, but here's why I'm forever into Trixie's: -I'm a quirky person by nature, and so is my four year-old daughter. So the atmosphere of the salon, with its toys, race car chairs, and mini TVs where my daughter could watch "Frozen" really set the stage. -Geraldine did not mind stopping in the middle of my daughter's cut so they could both rock out to "Let It Go". I'm talking, full belt, no mixing, sing your face off. It was wonderful. -Geraldine gave my daughter an absolutely charming French bob that suits her personality to a T, and not only was it stylish, it was surprisingly quick. She really has a great method with children. All my daughter could say for the next couple of hours is, "I just love my new hair cut!" BONUS: Some people may not like this, but we're a glitter family, so when Geraldine poured glitter into my kid's hair, she couldn't stop beaming. -I'd much rather support a small business that charges about the same for a cut and gives such wonderful personal service, than a corporate machine that sees my child as another number. We will definitely be back! read more

Had a Living Social deal for here, arrived at the time the salon opened and no one was there, went shopping next door to wait it out and see if they were just late. When we went back my daughters both had their hair cut, however my daughter had to stand while her hair was cut?? We have visited "kids" salons and my own salon never has the "stylist" had my kids stand while they cut their hair, a strange and non effective way of cutting kids hair in my opinion, salon was also haphazard & disorganized, as far away from a NYC hair experience as you can get read more

Geraldine is a hair cutting ninja! She managed an amazing first cut on my 20 month old boy with no crying! They have an adorable first cut certificate and attach a small lock of hair in a plastic bag. A-DOR-ABLE. I run a business myself and it's these kinds of personal touches that make customers happy. You can tell they are all very passionate about what they do! The car chairs and the toys were super cute. All the toys in the waiting room kept my 4 yr old entertained. Top notch! read more

I just noticed that I had gotten a reply to my updated post. Part of me thinks I should just leave it, but part of me is extremely disturbed at how much the owner will lie in order to discredit a negative review. You can show whatever "time stamp" or footage you have. If arriving within 5 minutes of my scheduled appt is extremely late then yes, we were extremely late. And I politely asked for the tv to be shut off bc I don't give my 1 year old screen time. The rest are blatant lies as well. The owner is probably banking on whoever is reading this to just believe whatever she posts. The over the top replies also show that she needs to work on her professionalism. read more

We stopped in on a busy Saturday & received excellent service. The staff was friendly and great with kids. My daughter received many compliments on her new haircut. I liked that the waiting area was stocked with toys that the kids could play with, instead of just the "toys for purchase only" setup that many other kids' salons unfortunately provide. read more

I had a great experience getting my 2 year old's hair cut here! I easily got a same-day appointment, and she did a great job despite the unavoidable toddler wiggling. Plus there was so much to keep him occupied - he got to pick out a movie, had a sweet car-chair to sit in, and countless trucks/trains/toys to keep him distracted. He was even allowed to stay and play with all of the toys for a while afterwards, and was legitimately upset when we had to leave! He's already asked several times if we can go back! I'd definitely call that a win. read more

My toddler struggles sitting through haircuts. Geraldine was wonderful and did a great job to help calm him down. Usually his hair gets butchered because he is wiggly but the cut was great! Would highly recommend, especially if your child does not enjoy getting haircuts. read more

I had my daughters 9th birthday here last Saturday. The online pictures don't show that the party is in a very small room. I had a 12 kid party so it was kind of hard to keep all children and parents in one small room. Some of the manicures looked rushed and the hostess could of been a lot friendlier since they are dealing with children. I expected them to also be dressed a little more presentable for a party. $300 for a very small room was a little much for what they offered. I would not suggest a party there. read more

This place is amazing. My son always had issues at the salon, so for a while, we were cutting his hair at home. We decided to give this place a shot and everything went so great. He sat in a little car quietly and watched Toy Story. The stylist was great and my son actually kept asking to go back. We will be back for sure. read more

My daughter has only ever gone to this salon and has her hair cut by Geraldine. I have never had a bad experience. My little one is a handful, but they do everything it their power to make it a positive experience ever time she goes (I.e. Bubbles, movies of her choice, singing, talking to her, toys, etc). We go every 6 weeks (she keeps her hair short) and have never had a problem with getting in. I recommend Geraldine to anyone who is looking for a talented, kid stylist, who can get the job done well and quickly! read more

This place was perfect for a 15 month old's first haircut. The stylists are like ninjas and they have a treasure hoard of things to distract the kids with. The only minus is that I said I'd heard horror stories of moms bringing their babies in and coming out with man haircuts. Unfortunately I feel the same way- my baby came out looking way way older. I'm sure I'll get used to it but it's a little unsettling at the moment. read more

Save your money and find a real stylist. No matter how many times I explicitly said leave all the length on top, she massacred it. I am so upset, because even though hair grows- this is going to take awhile to grow out and now we can't do anything about our family pictures. I will never go back here and will let everyone know that this place is a sham. Unless, of course you are looking for subpar stylists that can't follow instructions. read more

I've been to this location three or four times. I had a 10:30 appointment for my 3 year old grandson this past Friday. We arrived about 10:20 and another customer walked in no more than 15 seconds before us. As far as we know, that customer didn't have an appointment. We told the woman that we had an appointment, but she told us we would have to wait. She called someone else to come in, but that person was coming from Hamden, so it would be at least 1/2 hour. My grandson is autistic and doesn't like to get a haircut to begin with, so this just made a difficult job harder. We left and ended up taking him to a local barber who did a great job. We won't be back to this store. read more

Trixie's is a great place to have your child's haircut. Geraldine, the owner, and her staff made us feel welcome the moment we walked in the door. I have twin three year old boys. There was plenty to keep one son entertained while the other son got his haircut. There are car chairs for the kids to sit in while they got their haircut. The boys were e amused by the music the cars makes. The kids also could watch a show/movie or play a video game. Geraldine was gentle with the boys. She talked to the kids and kept them engaged during their haircut. The boys haircuts turned out great. They received tons of compliments. I would highly recommend Trixie's to my family and friends. read more

Trixie's was the BEST! We were visiting from New York City and my 2 year old desperately needed a haircut. At that point he had had about 8 haircuts, all of which were nothing special and sometimes just plain bad. With Trixie's there was no issue with making an appointment for the next day and when I met the owner and her husband, I was floored by how warm they were. Best part of the experience was the my son got the BEST haircut to date. My only issue is that we can't travel 2 hours each time he needs a haircut, but for the professionalism, quality and price, it is probably worth the travel. I went here last June. We were in the area doing some shopping and I saw the salon. I had seen it advertised before and had read great reviews. My daughter only needed her bangs trimmed. When I walked in there was a birthday party going on. The 2 people working were rushing around looking very stressed. The woman greeted us and asked what needed done. I explained to her that I needed to get my daughter's bangs cut. I said that I did not just want Them straight as I did not like the look of thick bangs. She immediately said she knew what I meant and that she would do wispy bangs. She then went over to the guy who was There and started arguing about something having to fo with the birthday party. The guy then got up and as he is going to the party room trips and almost falls trying to go back behind the curtain they had put up for te party room. The place was very small and everything was cluttered. The bang cut went fine and the woman was decent. But my daughter's bangs were a mess. I understanf it was busy and chaotic with the party going on. But I.would of rather her tell me that. At first glance when she was done it looked it ok. But later I noticed it was all uneven and there were even parts on the sides that hung down longer. My daughter had her dance recital the next day and this was upsetting. read more

Our first visit to Trixie's was this week. Love the haircut my daughter got (I wish my hair looked that good!) not to mention the great service. The stylist took the time to braid (and glitter!) my daughter's hair, which she loved. And she was so great with my daughter. Love this place! This is the only place I am taking my daughters from now on. My two little ones have a ton of hair so before my oldest was 2 I have had to get her bangs cut multiple times. But when she needed her first official haircut before her 2nd b-day we decided to try Trixie's. The atmosphere is fun. The stylist here was amazing with my daughter. They played Frozen for her. Managed to give her an even cut even though she was turning her head like crazy. Additionally she put in an "elsa" braid and glitter, they asked my permission first, at the end of the cut. Lastly, they are very reasonably priced. I would recommend this place to anyone with little ones. read more

Trixie's is the best! It is the only place my kids will go for a hair cut. My kids love Geraldine, she is so gentle, kind and fun. They love sitting in the cars and playing video games or watching a movie of their choice while getting their hair cut. My husband and I took our son for his first haircut today and it was the greatest experience we could have ever hoped for! A huge thank you to Matt and Geraldine, their professionalism and patience was abundant! Everyone was so sweet and understanding. Even though Our 15 month old son cried and fussed through out the entire cut, Geraldine and Matt were super fast and so sweet to all of us. They have endless options to keep the children happy...movies, fun chairs, decorations and toy everywhere! Matt was even nice enough to blow bubbles for our son and did his very best to keep us laughing! Geraldine is extremely talented, I have never seen anyone do such a fast haircut and still have it come out looking so amazing. Hooray! Finally, a kid friendly salon that is affordably priced and professional. There is plenty to keep your kids busy while you wait (which is never long) yet does not have all of the annoying noise and lights that other kids salons have. The first time we went, after we got home we realized my daughter's hair and bangs we're pretty uneven. The second time we went (we gave them a second chance) we were made to wait for 45 minutes after our appointment time! We weren't given any explanation. After 30 minutes I asked when we were going to get her hair cut and were told it would be another 15. I think they skipped us somehow, they seem fairly disorganized. This meant we were waiting through my 3 and 5 year olds lunch time. Again the cut needed an extra trim when we got home. We were given $5 off the cut but that just wasn't enough of an apology after such a long wait for my kids through lunch with no explanation. I honestly think we only received the $5 off because I asked what was going on. Bottom line you can get a better hair cut and better customer service elsewhere. read more

So I bought a Living Social deal for Trixies Cuts for Kids. I attempted to use it one day when we were in the area and was told I needed to make an appointment. No big deal. A few weeks later I called to make an appointment and was told that I could only come during the week and weekend times were not available "because we rent out our chairs to other stylists and they won't honor the Living Social deal". (That was no where in the fine print of the deal). I explained that I didn't live in Milford and normally go there when I am visiting my parents. With some hesitation I was told I could come on a Saturday. When we showed up the place looked like it was a cross between a toy store and a storage area with 3 hair cutting stations thrown in their. We then had to wait 30+ minutes while she finished up two other children (I assumed that when you made an appointment you would be taken roughly around that time). I didn't feel like the place was clean. The woman working that day had food spread all over the registered area. I find it hard to believe that it is ranked the #1 kids salon in the state and is run by a top NYC stylist. When I gave my feedback on Living Social "cheap haircuts but very unprofessional, dirty atmosphere" their response back was a personal attack on me and my husbands business (they obviously looked me up on the Internet to get the name of my husbands business-----seems like they stalked me). They should just take the feedback at face value and make improvements to their business. I will NEVER go back their and would NEVER recommend it. read more
