I came here today because I was working near by. I love getting smoothies. I frequent the Tropical Smoothie Cafe in west ashley. This place is located on a traffic circle at the shopping center by the big Walmart in Mt Pleasant on Proprietors Place. There's not many parking spots close to the restaurant. I parked and walked over, no big deal for me. I usually order the Mocha Madness smoothie because it seems like it's always blended better than the rest of the smoothies. The others seem icy sometimes. I realized that the Mocha Madness has yogurt in it whereas the other ones I tend to go for do not. Today, I asked if I could add yogurt to any smoothie. The associate said yes!!!! Game changer! I ordered the Peanut Butter Cup with yogurt. It was so amazing. I am so happy. I'll be back, no doubt. read more

We were driving from myrtle beach to charleston. All the smoothie shops in myrtle beach did not open up until later for some reason? Maybe its a myrtle beach thing. Came in for breakfast and ordered the American breakfast wrap. While this breakfast wrap was tasty and flavorful, it was the smallest wrap I've ever seen. Do NOT go to this Tropical Smoothie. I have been going to this Tropical Smoothie for years and last night changed my perspective on the franchise forever. I was sitting at the counter waiting for my order when the manager walked up to me unprovoked and called me the N word. Upon confronting him he said that he deals with "mother F words like me all the time." I was minding my own business hanging out with my friends and was approached because I had set my straw wrapper on the counter while still sitting there. When I asked for the manager the man who called me the N word and the F word said, "I guess that would be me." He looked like he was on some sort of drugs and wouldn't stop starring at us after the confrontation. After about 20 minutes he walked up to me and my friends and "apologized" for the interaction explaining how he doesn't want to be manager and was put into the position unwillingly. Words can't describe how bad this Tropical Smoothie is. Anyone who hired an individual like this and allows for this type of behavior to occur from a manager of all people should be ashamed of themselves. I want an apology! A real one! read more

My boyfriend and I come here frequently and always get smoothies and a flat bread. Service is usually quick and they are very friendly! I'm not sure if they've had a change in staff or new management but customer services was very bad today! When we walked in nobody greeted us and when we got to the counter the girl continued her conversation and completely ignored us! As we sat and waited we watched our smoothies get finished in the blender and just left to melt as this girl continued her conversation with another coworker. I've left 3 stars because I usually always love tropical smoothie but if I was a first time customer and saw this service I would Not be back! Not to mention once me and my boyfriend got back in the car we noticed his cup had been ripped or torn! I usually enjoy dining at Tropical Smoothie Cafe. However, this is the most poorly managed location I have ever had the misfortune of going to. I have been here on a few occasions and every time my experience has been less than desirable. On my most recent visit, there were three employees and only one customer in the building. The guy taking my order appeared to be new or did not know how to work the register properly. The lady, who appeared to be the manager (or at least the veteran employee), offered no assistance as she was more concerned with chatting with her two friends who were in the building at the time. The second male employee only seemed interested in flirting with the three girls. Although there was only one other customer in the building, it took an extraordinarily long time to get my food. Prior to visiting the store, I called multiple times to attempt to place a to-go order. No one ever answered the phone. In fact, nearly every time I have gone to this specific location I have tried to call to place my order in advance and have never been able to get an answer. Considering how slow they are, it is quite frustrating that I cannot place my order in advance. After my latest visit, I decided to send a Facebook message to see if perhaps their phone was broken. The owner, Jeff Walker, responded saying that it is not feasible for them to answer the phone if they are busy (it was 3pm and only 1 customer and 3 employees were in the store). He suggested that I download their app to place a to go order. While I agree that it is more convenient to order using an app than to deal with incompetent employees over the phone - it is not ideal when driving. It is safer to place a to-go order by a hands-free phone call than trying to choose options within an app. It is clear to me, based on the owner's response, that they don't need the business anyway. read more

I'm so excited to finally have a smoothie place on this end of town. I love the atmosphere of this place, the service was friendly and fast. I appreciate that they have kid size smoothies, my younger ones always insist they need their own but can never finish a full size one. They offer several varieties of protein too, which is nice, for those with allergy concerns. I haven't tried anything other then the smoothies and the cookies. I've tried lots of flavors and they were all awesome. The snickerdoodles are almost better then Grandma's. read more

This place has so much more than smoothies. If I hadn't read previous reviews, I never would have guessed that from the name. Clean, pleasant place for eat-in or take-out. Salads, bowls, sandwiches and, of course, smoothies. Tried a couple of the salad bowls. Both were great. We were a little disappointed with the cheese used on each. While I love the menu and concept, the entire cafe is filthy. There is garbage spilling out of the bathroom can, garbage all over the floor in the dining area and more garbage all over the kitchen floor. I suggest the owner supervise. This place is starting to grow on me. The first time I went I had the avocolado smoothie and their spinach salad. I love avocados and put them in my smoothies at home and was disappointed by theirs. It tasted like they had a chalky/cardboard ingredient which reminded me of those fake processed Pina colado mixes you can get from the grocery store. Coconut was one of the ingredients so I'm guessing that's where that weird/fake flavor came from. Their spinach salad also left something to be desired which I didnt originally realize had no protein and not many ingredients (in my opinion more ingredients on a salad the better) and was very hungry and hour after eating. On the other hand, on my second visit, I had their Island Detox smoothie which I did love. It was loaded with veggies and nicely was not overly sweet. The fact that they have green vegetable smoothies is what will keep me coming back. I did also see their wraps could be turned into gluten friendly bowls which I will be trying next time. read more
