My coworker raves about Tropical Smoothie and I really didn't know how great the smoothies were until she brought me an island green detox smoothie into work! The smoothies are all in 24oz styrofoam cups that are sturdy and not cheaply made. The smoothie was delicious! It contained spinach, kale, mango, pineapple and banana. Definitely tasted banana the most. I'm not the biggest smoothie drinker but it lasted me all day. About $5 for a 24oz smoothie isn't a bad price at all. I stopped into this location to get my coworker a gift card for her going away present. Service was fast and both gentleman that assisted me were really friendly. Very clean and I got that tropical beach vibe. Can't wait to come back and try the sandwiches, salads and wraps! Tropical Smoothie Cafe is a great addition to the Richmond area. This place is going downhill. I'm not sure what has changed over the past few months, but it used to be very clean inside and the smoothies and food used to be of excellent quality. The past few times I went there, the smoothies were not made to their usual high standard. They either were not blended completely, the flavors were tasting off, or there were big ice chips inside. They also have been out of dark chocolate, the past three times I have tried to order a chocolate peanut butter cup smoothie. And this past time that I went, we had two smoothies and two quesadillas, and we both spent all afternoon in the bathroom. So they obviously are not up to their usual clean standards and they're having unsafe food handling issues or unsafe temperature issues. This is the first time that I have ever gotten sick from eating there. And it was both of us, so I know it was either the smoothie or the quesadilla. So to the owner of this place, you should probably figure out what's going on and why things are going downhill, because it's not good!!! read more

Tropical smoothie for a chain restaurant is pretty consistent. The smoothies are always good and the food hits the spot for a snack. It can take a minute for food if you are in a hurry. Otherwise, this is typical for made to order food. It is good and the smoothies don't disappoint. We will return. read more

This is a review of frustration in general, but this place kind of took me over the edge. I gave it the two stars because the smoothie was fine. My complaint is how they shove the visa payment machine in your face in drive thru with defaulted tip of 20 percent on what is already $8 for a smoothie. On top of this, I have tipped a couple bucks at places like this when I feel I really should not have to tip when all the staff is doing is making my drink, but no one even says thank you when I do tip. You would think someone would coach their staff thank customers when they do give tips. The other thing about their defaulted 20% tip default scheme is that the sun blinds you so you can't even read the card machine. Then they ask me to round up to donate to some charity. I am the charity when I am paying $20 for two freaking smoothies with tips and donations included. read more

Nice place overall, fun beachy vibe. Food is always spot on and delicious. However, the staff, while always friendly, is super slow. I don't know why, but you can always count on a 10-15 minute wait. Always. It doesn't matter what time of the day. I rarely get smoothies and even the simplest food order is ready in no less than 10-15 minutes. Good place, but pack your patience. read more

i went to this place to quench my hunger one night. the employee threw my smoothie on the ground and stomped on it. she apologized and then got a mop and swept my smoothie that was all over the floor back into my broken cup. despite the damage to my cup and the occasional crunch to my smoothie from being on the floor, i think this is a great restaurant! read more

I love smoothies, but these were just bad. More like an icee than a smoothie really, no creamy ness at all. We got two different kinds (a mixed berry and the closest I could get to strawberry) neither was very strong. The serving size was good, though I wish we liked them enough to want to finished them. Also, the menu is very much that of healthy diet smoothies rather than flavorful/enjoyable smoothies. In laws live out this way and they babysit my kid quite often. Hubby and I were dropping off the babe when he suggested we try this place. We both ordered a different smoothie and tried them both. They were amazing! We did the same thing the next day and got two different ones- both fantastic. I got the genius idea to try their food on my way to work one day and the rest is history. I've tried most of the wraps and flatbreads now and they are all so good! I got 3 tacos for the hubby and he said they were great- packed with flavor. This is my new favorite place, I just wish it were closer to me- about 40 minutes away. read more

I go to this location a lot. They have been on this side of the state the longest. For the amount of time they have been here they should offer their employees better training. A lot of their smoothies that contain more ingredients do not get mixed properly. When you spend 6$ on a smoothie you expect it to be made right. I do not have time to bring it back in every-time to get it remixed. The app has a lot of flaws as well. read more

I love TSC and eat here quite a bit. The owner of this location is very hands-on and a very nice man. I just think they need to train the employees a little better. Sometimes I use the app and get there and they never even made what I ordered. It's understandable that it gets busy. It sometimes my smoothies aren't the same consistentcy making it alomost impossible to drink. I hope the owner works on this issue. read more

Smoothies take too long. They put my smoothie to the back and didn't make it after I ordered. Weird smell to the place and left stuff laying around. Also my smoothie wasn't blended well, I ordered a Chia banana boost and it had ice chips in it. Won't come again. read more
