On our visit there was a large sewage problem and we couldn't use showers or laundry. Host moved us to their sister facility which we were very grateful for, but it seems like the second one may have waste problems as well. Hosts at both facilities were helpful and accommodating. The laundry utilized an app that you had to seed with$15 to use. We didn't use that much, so we lost $10 at that attempt. But we still have the app...$3 for wash/$3 dry. Just make sure you indicate @normal or price can rise to $5 for load which will take several hours. Showers were clean. We stayed here awaiting Space X launch.

Misleading 'Resort' -- Poor Maintenance and Management Issues. This place calls itself an "RV…read moreResort," but that title is very misleading. Management is extremely rude and unhelpful -- when I complained about the laundromat taking my money, I was basically brushed off. Most of the washers are out of order anyway, so doing laundry here is a headache. The pool water smells terrible (definitely not maintained properly, no sign of chlorine/bleach odor), and the gazebo area is unusable since it's completely covered in bird droppings. My black tank drain hose was even broken by staff while they were mowing, and of course, no responsibility was taken. The property may be gated, but the front gate is left wide open every night, making it feel unsafe. One tenant even had tools stolen from his truck, and others have complained about issues with no response or resolution. Overall, this is not worth the price, not worth the stress, and certainly not a place I'd call a resort. I would never stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone.

It was sad. Tons of RVs were at the campground. Several folks in single vehicles still enjoying the sunset. But those single day use areas weren't crowded by that point. Be very careful driving. I encountered many dog walkers who just didn't care or didn't know I was approaching, me in the right of way, but I digress. Also, watch out for kids just playing in the middle of the parking lot. Their parents oblivious to me trying to exit. That also happen... but there was a perfectly good beach area for them to play on just a few yards away. *sigh* Never again unless I am here much earlier in the day. We immediately admitted it, apologized, gave pool manager Marc our RV site number, explained we were staying a month as compliant long-term guests, and mentioned we'd spoken to the manager just an hour earlier who was fine with us using the pool. We tried to reason with Marc about staying since it was obvious we belonged there, but he was completely unreasonable from the first moment, refusing to listen or consider any of it. His tone was rude and unprofessional right away. When I told him directly that he was being rude and unprofessional, he completely lost his cool. His attitude turned hostile--he escalated aggressively, getting confrontational while we were gathering our belongings and trying to exit. I told Marc multiple times--clearly and repeatedly--to leave my wife and me alone so we could leave peacefully. He refused every time. His ego was bruised from being called out (which he fully deserved), so he kept antagonizing us, following us, and pushing to argue. This wasn't rule enforcement; it felt personal and like he was looking for a physical fight. No rational person ramps things up that far over a simple wristband issue after being accurately called rude. Even after we left the pool area and returned to our RV site, Marc tracked us down again--this time with his supervisor--in what looked like another attempt to drag out the confrontation. The supervisor didn't add fuel, but nobody acknowledged that Marc's behavior had crossed way over the line. Marc bragged during the incident about being an ex-police officer. It makes sense: there's a clear reason he's now playing tough guy as pool "security" instead of wearing a badge. His macho, unnecessarily aggressive style makes him a real liability for the park--turning minor issues into tense, hostile encounters that feel like they could turn physical. Rules like wristbands matter, and we followed them once reminded. But staff need to enforce calmly and professionally, especially with cooperative guests who are trying to explain and resolve things reasonably. Marc's approach creates unnecessary risk. Future visitors: be ready for interactions that might get aggressive and personal rather than respectful. This experience with Marc was unacceptable and made the whole stay feel lousy. Management needs to remove or retrain aggressive employees like this immediately before someone gets seriously hurt.

The sites are all crushed gravel, which isn't as charming as grass but stays clean and drains well. The pool is a decent size, hot tub works, and the bathrooms are genuinely good; four individual rooms, each with their own shower and toilet, real AC that actually functions. No waiting in line, no communal chaos. That's worth something, especially in South Padre heat. There's a rec room that sits mostly empty during the day, a small gym, and laundry on site. The spot where Pier 19 used to be before it burned down now has premium RV spaces with better water views if that matters to you. Staff was friendly across the board, every interaction. It's a well-run park. Nothing blew us away, but everything worked, and that's more than you can say for a lot of places. Would come back.

Isla Blanca Park in South Padre Island, TX, is home to El Cristo de los Pescadores or "Christ of…read morethe Fishermen" statue. My first thought was how huge the statue was. This depiction of Jesus Christ was created in the late '90s in memory of Gustavo De La Lastra and Jose Edwardo De La Lastra. Their June 1988 deaths by asphyxiation aboard a shrimp boat occurred "after using a chemical preservative on their catch." A lawsuit by the parents against chemical's manufacturer, General Chemical Corporation, ensued. I didn't know about this tragedy beforehand, however, the statue remained absolutely beautiful. I wish that the island wasn't so trashy on May 28, 2025 when my daughters and I visited. If that wasn't enough, daily vehicle passes were $12. I'd probably go here to view SpaceX launches from afar, but not to RV camp. It looked so crowded!
