We did some footwork and scheduled three contractors to see what it would cost. From the beginning, R.A. James was our first choice. First of all, they were on time. This may seem like a minuscule thing but when you've only a few hours a day to get all your errands done, it's super important that your contractor values your time. They were straight forward and upfront while being friendly. We got our estimate within 24 hours and after receiving our other estimates, determined that we felt best about R.A. James and asked to start in about 3 weeks. He agreed that with that time frame he could get our permits approved (the city of Berwyn is the most persnickety about permits). I have to say, I was hesitant about having strangers in my home and turning my backyard and kitchen into a construction zone. As expected they were on time every day, but what really impressed me was how unobtrusive they were. Each day the project manager would ring our doorbell, greet us and let us know what they'd be doing that day, if they needed access and that was it! They also took great care to use the existing finishes on our windows so that the flow to our deck would be flawless. We wanted to add a sail shade while they were building-- "no problem." We decided to add a lamp and therefore needed an electrical outlet--"sure." Our fire table is 200lbs -- "let us help you with that." They were courteous and even more than that--fast. It took 1.5 weeks start to finish and that included Berwyn coming out to check the depth of our posts, 2 rain days, and both the electrician and the stone mason to reconstruct our brick. It was so painless, the price was competitive and the finished product was flawless, I couldn't be happier and would recommend using them for any project you might have in mind.

Once again, Danny from Chicago Home ReVision saved the day for us, as well as money and headaches…read more This time it was the cold-water shower handle not getting a good grip on threads of the valve stem and not completely turning off the water after a shower. We hated the drip, drip, drip of precious water. Danny fixed it in one short visit! Another plumber told us his repair was very involved with expensive custom parts, a building water shutoff, and with the daunting words, "it won't be cheap". Danny saved us from all of that. We will always go with Danny as our first choice. PS. He also repaired a loose bathroom tile, after fixing the shower.

I came across John and his team at Chicago Home Re/Vision after months thinking about a bathroom remodel and was close to giving up on finding a contractor. I'm glad that I didn't give up because (1) John responded within a day of outreach to come out and assess -- providing me a breath of fresh air, hope, and vigor for this project -- and (2) the final result was beyond my wildest dreams. From initial contact to end, John and his team were professional, communicative, flexible, and an absolute delight to work with. Prior to the project, John provided me a lot of advice on materials, aesthetics, and timeline -- which helped me mitigate some of the risks and what-ifs. Seriously, I wouldn't have installed a half shower door had he not advised that (1) it would be easier to install than a full shower door -- not that it would be a problem for me -- but as a result it would be easier to maintain, (2) it would look great with the vision I was going for, and (3) that it would be functional despite my first reaction. I had many travel plans during the summer, which made it difficult for me to say when exactly we could get started, however, Chicago Home Re/Vision was able to be flexible and accommodate a delayed start date. At every juncture of the project, John provided me many choices to make which helped me feel like I was an active participant in creating the end product and made sure that I would not be surprised by anything. The end result is so very impressive -- I some times do not believe that this is the same bathroom. They did such an amazing job. It is even more impressive when I say that their timeline and budget was exactly in line with their initial quotes, which were already incredibly fair. John and his team at Chicago Home Re/Vision have set a new high standard of what I expect from my contractors. I can promise you that I be will be reaching out to them first for any future projects. He was also able to work with our HOA to get the docs they needed quickly. The crew he brought did all the work in the time they originally specified and did an excellent job at removing the old deck, refinishing the existing base structure, and then adding on the new Trex. Why ??? ) which led to relentless abuse by countless Chicago seasons and resulted unsightly mold and moss and other gross growths. He was quick to reply with our initial request for a quote and came by the next day to check out the projects. He priced the work reasonably - was quick to complete the work (stained the roof deck, tore out the carpet on the other deck and installed new decking, even dog-proofed it, to boot!), he paid great attention to detail, and did an overall awesome job. I've hesitated to post this review. I started it a month ago. I've struggled with appreciating that…read morethe owner of this business was an honest, good guy, and his team was respectful of my home. I had a bathroom remodel job started and the original contractor, after doing demolition work and horribly laying the flooring, started no showing on me, so I had to search for new contractors in the middle of the holiday season. That's where Rosas came in to help. The quality of work on my bathroom remodel was less professional than I expected. It's a few months since the project was completed, and I'm constantly noticing more and more issues. The paint job has to be the worst I've ever seen. They clearly didn't prime, there are brush strokes and areas not even painted, the painted over my vent covers, and paint is cracking in some areas. I've noticed leaking from my shower because either they didn't seal the tile properly or the door. So I can't even use the shower. After the original "completion" of the project, I had to call them back a few times. Once, because 1/3 of my shower tiles weren't grouted. Then, the grout is two different colors. My light fixture isn't centered, and it's hung too close to the mirror, causing the glass fixtures to hit up against the mirror. I would identify the team as laborers, not skilled trades people. I splurged for marble tiles for my shower floor and the cut around the drain, and the mismatched and thick caulk around the ends looks messy and takes away from the beauty of the tile. Then, new baseboards were installed, but there was such carelessness that the boards don't look new. There's paint dripping and scuffs in them. Just sloppy, DIY looking work. I could go on, but you get the picture. Again, nice people but the work, meh. Now I have to bring a third group in to repair, repaint, raise and center the light fixture, and do my floors (they are not responsible for the horrible flooring job) and figure out the issue with the leaking water from the shower, which has also now damaged the baseboards. Leaking appears to be happening because the instep into the shower wasn't properly sealed. #frustrating

We have a kitchen that was last remodeled fifteen years ago. We had a number of contractors come in…read moreto give us an estimate on countertops, backsplash, flooring, and painting -- walls, ceiling, and cabinets. In almost every case, the contractors refused the job, saying it was "too small." One of them actually demanded (yes, he demanded!) that he be allowed to knock down a wall between the kitchen and dining room! Just to make the job :big enough" for him to consider. Then we found Sal Corna. (Thank goodness!) Sal and his crew -- diligently led by Andres -- were thorough professionals. The were no surprises, no hidden extra costs, and the price was competitive and very, very fair. The job was done in about ten days (only five of which we were unable to use the kitchen). We're really glad we found Sal, and we hope to use Corna's services again soon.
