A few weeks ago, my wife and I decided to have the following work done on our 3000 sq foot home: remove pop corn ceilings, paint all interior walls, replace baseboard and door molding, repair fascia and paint the exterior, and pressure clean and seal the driveway. I called to make an appointment to an estimate, not a great experience, the office people sounded irritated and didnt have the greatest phone manners, but I made the appointment. The estimator came out.....a lot personal talking of himself. a lot of we are the best. and a whole lot money on the estimate. Double what the other two companys I received estimates from. I tried to reach someone to ask questions but I left a couple messages and was told someone would get back to me. But not one of the messages was returned. After researching several painting contractors, we selected TruColors Contracting because they included some tasks the others did not. Maurice, the company's conscientious and polite client advocate, called and emailed several times to confirm scheduling, confirm our paint colors and finishes, and to accept credit card payment over the phone (yes, this company accepts all major credit cards). Only two days after notifying TruColors we had selected them, Maurice was able to get us on the schedule. Adam the pressure washer was impressive - he showed up promptly, was polite, professional and gave our one-story home the best pressure washing in 25 years! The painting team, led by Alex, arrived Monday morning, carefully prepping and patching the house, and masking our hurricane shutters, windows and outdoor lights. It took only 4 days to complete painting and repairs from start to finish, and our 25 year old house looks brand new. The painters were extremely careful, paid excellent attention to detail, asked questions when they wanted to clarify work before starting it, and were receptive to our feedback as they went to ensure they were on the right track. Great clean up at the end too - no debris littering our property. Overall, an excellent experience and I would strongly recommend TruColors Contracting for exterior painting. The positive the house looks awesome and we love the colors. The negative Poor communication with the guys in the field and the guys in the office. The guys painting the house just started doing their thing like they knew what we wanted and when I asked them about painting the shutters they seemed confused and had to go back and do it again. Also when I booked this I had them throw in painting the attic screens since he wanted more money and said it was a 4 hour job and when I asked the guys again at the end of the job they also said they didnt know about it and went around with a can of spray paint in 15 minutes and painted them when I was told it had to be hand brushed with a oil based paint. Also I was sold on they would caulk around the fascia board and the stucco and they never even did that. Only caulked the windows. Also I was sold on they would spray and back roll the house and I was watching the guy spraying but never saw anyone with a roller back rolling behind him. Pretty disappointing that I need to hold the hand of such a big company with great feedback which is why I went with them and they were more expensive then my other quotes I received.
