Truckee, California…read more There is no real purpose to go inside the building. You have a good vantage view of this small town from the Stone Tower & the patio that is accessible 24/7. The weather was 36 degrees in June so do not think for a second all of California is beaches & palm trees. Truckee is the gateway for Reno & Lake Tahoe with Sacramento & Central/Nor Cal in general. The town has more significance than it may appear. The Donner Pass is also adjacent to this town. I have pretty much every mobile tool that exist. plumbing, electrical, auto repair, you name it I got it. But when I was younger, in middle school, I took wood shop and metal shop. I love them both and made quite a few amazing items. In high school I made a chess board, and a desk. I always wanted to go back and experiment and do some artistic as well as functional items. Well this is the place to do it. It's like having a wood shop, a metal shop, textiles, ceramics, lasers, plasma cutters, routers... And the name of the place says it all. Community maker space. when my kids were born, I bought the materials to make them some rocking horses, but did not have a large enough space to lay everything out. I have plans for Adirondack chairs, and a few others that are just wasting away because I have no space to make them. And then somebody told me about this place. They have a very affordable monthly/yearly membership. Right now they are showing $60 a month or $500They have a good process to make sure that you are safe and able to work the machines. If you need help, they have workshops and classes. Also there are quite a few experience people hanging around, with a wealth of knowledge that are very helpful. Yes I cannot wait to start my adventure.

If you see a gray and reasonably fit man with University of Iowa or Texas A&M-themed gym clothes, that's me. But you definitely won't see us on a pickleball court, which isn't the type of strength, endurance, and cardio exercise that we need. We really really like this gym and don't mind the relatively long but frequent Genoa commutes. You'll also find me here in its time as a volunteer election worker. And there's so much more going on here.

The Community Life Center (or CLC if you are lucky to be a part of their family) is not just a…read morecommunity center. They are there for families, children, and people of all ages and walks of life. If you have a young child that need before and after school care, they can help. If you have a teenager who needs a place to go and be focused to do distanced learning, they can help. Or even if you have a middle schooler who needs a safe and inclusive environment after school a few days a week, they have that too. Every day is a fun, exciting, loving day for my kids at this center. Not only are they able to be their quirky selves (let's face it, all middles schoolers are) but I know they are safe. I know I can finish my work day and have piece of mind that they were in a good environment while I navigate through these times. If you are looking for a place for your child to go please give them a try. It truly is a community that every child should get to experience. A chance to be a part of a family outside of their own. A place that will give them a sense of belonging when so many things in their life are wonky and inconsistent. Enrolling my children here was the best thing I ever did, for us as an entire family.

I have had the pleasure of being involved with this Organization for a lot of years. I just love…read morethe people who join us every Saturday. It is more like a family setting for Bingo and we have helped a lot of people in the community. We have helped Save N Sober every year. Children's cancer every year and our locals in trouble getting things like clothes, firewood for heat, food for Christmas and finding an entire Christmas for a family of 5 and another family of 7. We have helped the school out on other occasions as well with sports. And helped fire victims. We also have put on annual Easter Egg Hunts and Halloween trunk or treats. Everything we've done has been a hit. I just wish the community would get more involved in volunteering.
