I brought my 1970 Cutlass project car in on October 21st for a brake-related noise and a possible transmission issue. They told me it would be kept indoors--it wasn't. It sat outside for nearly two weeks, untouched until October 27th, with no communication except repeated excuses that they were "just busy." When they finally looked at it, they said the driveshaft was hitting the internal tunnel and decided to "fix" it by mounting the transmission higher with a smaller mount. That was a lazy, temporary workaround that didn't fix the problem. I approved up to $3,000 in repairs (they quoted $2-3K) to get the car running smoothly, including a brake booster replacement, full fluid changes, wiper motor and a transmission flush and possible carburetor work. They changed direction multiple times--one day saying a brake booster was needed, the next saying it wasn't, and claiming the "original brakes were better." Despite promising to do an engine wash and check the wipers, they never washed the engine (it's still covered in Oklahoma red dirt) and installed the new wiper motor incorrectly--high is "off," and off is "high." When I finally picked the car up on November 4th, after 13 days, the manager "Nick" said it was running great. Within minutes of leaving, it was obvious something was very wrong. The car wouldn't accelerate properly, made a choking noise under 40 mph, and even died on the way home. The brake pedal was still stiff, and the hood shakes, the car clunks when turned off, and my headlights and dash lights no longer work--they did before it went in. See pics where he said he wired everything back like it was, then told me it didn't need wired because it was plug and play. LIARS! I immediately took it to a restoration shop, where they confirmed the transmission should never have been lifted--that was not the issue. The first shop admitted fault and refunded their labor, but that doesn't cover the damage or the cost to fix their mistakes. They missed that it needed a vacuum pump and left the wrong wires on the car causing one to start melting and causing slips. How did they miss this with 12 days to inspect and diagnose it? This place was completely out of their depth and wasted two weeks of my time. I'll likely have to take legal action for the additional repairs. After we had paid but before we drove the car out, I asked it is all good to go- Nick said it was running smoothly and all we needed was an oil change every 3k miles. That no future mechanic works was needed and that we could start body work. Even mentioned we could take it out of town safely. We did good to make it from West Street in central to midtown. The restoration shop told me that they wanted to make sure that it was safe and not susceptible to engine fire. Then I see online that this shop was just caught on the news. Kept a ladies car for 5 weeks and broke a ton of stuff and went joyriding. Google the story. When we dropped our car off it had a full tank of gas and when we picked it up, it was a little under half. I'm betting one of their guys doesn't have a car and drives client cars back-and-forth to work all week. And one last thing: the manager repeatedly called me "hun"--every time I spoke to him. Literally no fewer than thirty times. It was unprofessional, condescending, and inappropriate. Newsflash Nick, women don't appreciate that! Super weird! Do not take your classic or project car here. I wanted to share a few of my experiences: 1. They have brought my vehicle home to me when I had an emergency surgery and I could not pick it up. 2. They have told me when it was a mechanical issue that they could not assist in - suggested another trusted shop AND they drove it to that shop while I was at work. 3. They have given me honest work and even lowered my bill when I had a hard time. I am a single Mom, I have minimal mechanic knowledge, I can not explain how fantastic it is to trust a shop with my vehicle. Aaron and Nick have always taking care of me- and I hope you let them take care of you!

Tldr; I needed help with a hardstart/idle issue and was charged $100 for a Quick OBD II scan…read more(which I didn't need), a car start, and an oil check. Will not use, nor recommend these guys. I have a car that has a hardstart/idle issue. After spending a lot of time and effort trying to solve it myself and failing, I decided I needed help from someone with more than the meager knowledge I have; so I took it to Automotive Diagnostic Center to have them find the problem. I made sure that I provided them, both in written and verbal form, a comprehensive description of the problem and the actions that I had taken to try to solve it so that they would have a good starting point. I received a call from them saying that the oil needed changed and I could come pay the diagnostic fee, $100, and pick up my car, or they could change the oil, $60, but they couldn't proceed with the diagnosis until the oil had been changed. To be clear, I am not complaining that they said the oil needed changed because, it did. I'm not even complaining about the cost they quoted me for the oil change; $60 is reasonable, a bit steep, but not horrible. My problem is, they charged me $100 to do a surface scan with an OBD II, start the car and check the oil. I'm sorry, but, can you not see the issue here, ADC? This is the kind of stuff that so many shops pull that make people distrust and dislike you. For $100, you could have done any number of things (all things that I don't have the tools to do nor the knowledge to know what to look for and why I took to someone who should): * Compression test * Blow by test * Intake manifold vacuum test * Fuel pressure test * Check the spark plugs * Use a fancier OBD II to do a more in depth diagnosis to see what each of the components are actually doing to see if one is just barely working or acting in a way that indicates a short or bad wire/connection. Those are just some examples off the top of my head. I'm sure that other things could have been done. What you did do, I could have done, and had done myself and would not have brought it to you had that been what needed to be done.

With the engine in protective mode, I was able to limp the 120 miles in to Wichita on a Thursday night. Shayla booked me in for 8:30 am on Friday and by 10:00 am, they had diagnosed the main problem - throttle body and the secondary problem - battery registration. I had to spend the weekend in Wichita waiting on parts but by noon on Monday, I was back on the road and finished 4,000 more miles of my trip without any trouble. Had I waited in Stillwater, there was only one place in town that would even look at my BMW and he said he couldn't get to it until the following Thursday - 7 days from when my vehicle broke down. BMER Tech did a great job and I only wish that I lived closer so I could use them as my regular independent BMW Mechanic.
