We were customers for the last 4-5 years, and our lawn looked terrific. This year has been a series of errors, and our lawn looks terrible. Have tried 4 times to get services corrected, and now gross errors have set in, we are notified when we are not getting service, not notified for other services being performed, one time misquitto spray was a liquid, the other was a gas vapor, one lawn treatment would be hand applied by sprayer, the next by a riding tractor and over spray occurred - other areas of the lawn were not treated because the tractor did not fit - lawn was aerated and overseeded this season on July 31 which is 5 weeks too early for central illinois. Sadly, we have decided the weeds are going to win, and we have stopped all of our services - sad thing, as they used to do such a great job. Be wary. All is not greener on the other side. read more

They spray the heart of the yard with no attention to detail. Time is money in and out as quick as they can. As soon as you pay the bill they are at your door step wanting to spray again. Literally every time you make a payment they will show up within 2 weeks to spray again. Who can afford monthly sprays at $90 each. I had Tru Green. I used them to try to get rid of Creeping Charlie. Every year they pushed me to get services and did not do a good job getting rid of the Charlie. Each year they don't ask if you want to renew. Last fall I called about the creeping Charlie and decided to tell them not to come back. I finally told them your fired. Do not ever come back. In March I caught some guy pulling up to my yard and he pulled out a hose to do their 5 minute treatment on my yard. I told him, I do not use your service and please leave. They now sent me a bill for 69.22. They won't leave me alone. I do not recommend them. read more

I had TruGreen as my lawn care this year and pre-paid one year program for my lawn. My lawn was luscious green before their service. In July, a half of the lawn is dead and they told me due to the army warms (Only my lawn is dead due to army warms in my neighborhood). Furthermore, the dead lawn has nothing except some weed patches here and there, the non-dead lawn has so many crabgrass, thistle, and some other types of weeds I cannot name them. Now I have an eyesore lawn in the entire neighborhood, and my lawn has a professional lawn care--TruGreen!! I do not know how those good evaluations are posted here, I have exactly the opposite experience. Now I need to deal with the dead lawn and TruGreen keeps texting me telling me that they will keep applying lawn applications (I already paid them the entire year service). They also would like to give me a quote for more service such as seeding. How can I trust them and keep giving money to destroy my lawn? Stay away from TruGreen!!! read more

Had the service at my previous home for years and it was good. Since moving into town it's terrible. Have to call to get my lawn serviced and when they show up they only treat 1/3 of my yard. When I call it would be nice is someone would say there sorry or something to that effect. read more

I emailed (and called) Trugreen two months ago on 7/11/22 about grubs in my lawn. Trugreen answered on 7/13 saying someone would be out the next day to "address my concerns". No one showed up. I STILL have grubs which have damaged my lawn. I called again today and spoke with an apparently disinterested employee who told me I didn't have grub service on my program. (I had grubs last year too, and was treated for them after I called. I am sure I told them to add grub treatment to my program, but apparently they did not.) Now I supposedly have grub treatmment on my program and someone is supposed to come out this week to treat my lawn. We'll see if that happens. If it does not, I will cancel my service with Trugreen (which I've had for over 20 years). Management, are you listening/reading this? read more

This company has THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We live in a duplex in Decatur, Illinois. I paid for the entire front of the house to be treated. One could visibly see where the company did not treat the other side of the yard. After asking them about it, they stated that it was treated. They came out and treated it and you could visibly see the difference. Then they sprayed our Japanese elm tree and killed it. The manager came out and denied that he sprayed it even though our neighbor saw him do it. The person said to compensate us, they would aerate our lawn for free. They aerated it and charged us $271. We called them to question the bill. After 4 days, we still do not have a call. Never Again! I would give them ZERO stars if it were an option. read more

I've had multiple disappointments in the past year with this company. It's difficult to get ahold of anyone to discuss service problems. Because of the way the local staff dismissed my concerns, I escalated, asking the Branch Manager for the Champagne office, Jeff, to call me. Instead he had an assistant call me. The assistant told me that he was calling first to find out if it was "important enough" for Jeff to call me. It was apparent that my business was unimportant to them. My services issues have to do with technicians not spraying my full yard and lying about it. Then when I called to complain, I was spoken to as if I wasn't believed and then it was dismissed. It continued to happen. After getting repeat incomplete service and my complaints disregarded, I sent in footage from my security camera. The result was shocking - they sent me the remaining portion of my annual payment and ended my contract. What I got out of this is that they don't hold the lawn servicers to any standard, the Branch Manager has no intention of doing anything about the poor service, and they preferred to discontinue service instead of requiring the servicers to do their job. They serviced my lawn for three years. First two years were decent then came 2016 treatment and now my grass is dying from all the weeds. They haven't killed any weeds. My yard looks horrible. Full of weeds and even my friends who come over are shocked. I called the manager out to the property demanding full refund and all they offered is free treatment which I do not want. To add insult to the injury they are wanting to refund the last application fee. They need to refund me the whole 571 dollars. Even then I'm angry since my lawn has gone to hell. If they don't apologize and refund next step will be to deal with them in court. After three years of service no ones lawn should look like that. Never ever use this company. Totally agree with the previous review. Simply, they try to charge for applications they never have done. At the end of season, they suddenly send multiple bills saying they are over due. Worse, communication with this company is a nightmare. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOUR PROPERTY IS NOT COMPLETELY FLAT AND YOU CAN WATCH THEM THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS. I used this service for over 4 years and they did the entire property, just as the quoted in the beginning, for the first 2 years and their service was good. I did have to call them back a few times to do areas they had not completed. After each call last year they would send out a technician to finish the back of the property and the hill. This year they decided the hill was to steep and they couldn't do it anymore by machine or foot. After having them send back their tech a few times I accepted their findings even though another lawn company mows the hill with no problem using their lawn mowers. Since True Green decided the could not do the whole property, I asked for a refund for the services they had not provided for over a year and was told that they had adjusted the price even though they were still charging me the same price that THEY quoted for doing the entire property. I went to my account on their web site and did not see a price adjustment for not doing the hill. I would not recommend using this company unless you have a very flat property and even then you should check to make sure they are doing the property as quoted. If not, cancel the service asap and check your billing. read more

This past Monday I scheduled TruGreen to come out on Wednesday 8/19 to treat my lawn for grub. They could not give me a time window for their arrival. They text me the day before to confirm the appointment and still no time window. I called and they gave me the time 7 am to 12 noon. They are over 3 hours late and still no technician. When I call to check the status I get a recording saying that my technician will be out within an hour. When I spoke to a person they told me that they do not have the ability to track or contact their workman. Let me repeat... according to a TruGreen representative, they do NOT have the ability to contact or track their workman. This is 2020. Don't they have cell phones? This is not the fault of their technicians. It makes me wonder that they overbook their workers and over promise their customers. I guess once they get your money they don't care about their customer. This was my first experience dealing with TruGreen and wonder if I should work with them again. read more

Absolutely terrible service so far. Pre-paid for a summer service, 8 applications total, have had 3 so far and each time the technicians don't go to the backyard or side yards. I've called my sales rep and was told the local manager would get back to me, nothing. I've called the 800 numbers, no one ever answers (but the survey call comes through just fine, usually while I'm still on hold...). My front yard still has quite a lot of weeds and is seeing minimal growth, even after dropping over $150 on my own to reseed the yard and supposedly having fertilizer sprayed twice since March. Meanwhile my backyard is doing better without the treatments, some crabgrass, but for basic maintenance that I've been doing myself its in better shape than the front yard. Fence was just put around backyard too recently, so they can't claim they didn't have access to the backyard. I have a doorbell camera and two yard cameras so I know for a fact that the techs come, halfway spray the front yard, pack up and leave. I'm paying for 5,000 sq ft and only getting maybe 1/3 of the total lawn actually taken care of. This company was quick to take my money and talk me into a pre-paid plan, but are absolutely terrible at doing the job right! Until someone from the company reaches back out to me and makes this right, I'm putting them on blast everywhere I can. read more

TruGreen does a good job of feeding my lawn to give me nice, green grass, and they get almost all the weeds as well. Only an occasional dandelion survives, and the creeping charlie and henbit is gone. It is well worth the cost to be able to A) NOT mess with the chemicals, and B) save the time it would take for me to do it so I can spend more time on gardening. I am a master gardener and have a lot of flowers, and they are very careful to avoid any damage to my plants. read more

Worst is that without asking if I wanted to sign up for another year, they just come by my house without any prior notice and apply treatments. Leaving messages on their website has no effect. Don't use this company. They don't put due dates on their bills and then get shitty with you when you don't pay your bill on time. How am I suppose to know what is ON TIME, if there is no due date. Also technician accidentally dropped a bunch of chemicals in our yard in a pile. A lot of chemicals in one pile results in DEAD grass. The technician with an 8th grade iq level didn't even bother to tell anyone. When we noticed it, we were offered a very small compensation for their incompetent workers. read more

These people seem to be off their meds!!! I thought it was just the local store in Champaign, but after talking to the corporate people about my problems I realize the whole company is loaded with misleading people. They came out for a one time treatment for broadleaf weeds and ended up treating for grubs. I called and they claimed I had signed up for their total program. Once I explained that wasn't true, they quickly backed off and refunded the money (clearly just trying to take advantage of people that will blindly pay the bill). They sent a guy out for free to actually treat weeds like I had originally asked for and absolutely nothing was killed. I don't have all that many weeds in my yard to begin with but not a single leaf turned a hint of brown to even pretend to begin dying. Conveniently, they now say that it takes years of their treatments to begin seeing results. It's funny to me that I have been able to see results nearly immediately when I treat the lawn myself. Save your money. Don't be fooled by their professional looking logo because they don't seem to have a clue about lawns. These people are a joke!!! read more

We have been very happy with our service from Tru-Green. Our lawn is green and the grass is thick. The employees do a good job of letting us know when they will be performing a service. They are also willing to return and fix things if we have a problem with weeds, etc. They treat both our lawn and our shrubs, and ours is one of the best looking yards in our area. read more

I called TruGreen to schedule sprinkler winterization and talked with one lady who said someone else would call me to schedule. I then received another phone call from a sales person where I gave him my billing information. I was told then that a third person would contact me to schedule my appointment. I never got that phone call. I think it's ridiculous to have to talk to 3 people before they would even come out. I was getting ready to hire another company when the salesperson called me back and said they would take care of me and kept apologizing so I gave them a second chance, and credit card info AGAIN. As I was on the phone with the man that was supposed to come out he didn't even know who the salesperson was (even though their desks are very close by). I was thinking then how unorganized that company really is, especially for a large company. Anyway, they never showed up for the appointment. I had to take off work to be home and no call, no show. I have had nothing but trouble with TruGreen from service to billing to poor customer service. The office staff is rude. I cancelled my service July 2012. They treated my lawn in the spring of 2013 and billed me while I was on a 4 week vacation. I returned to a letter from collections. I'm waiting on a return call from a manager. That was 4 days ago. Was my lawn ever weed free? No. For the price of their services, I truly expected more. I stuck it out for 6 years...Big disappointment. read more

I thought that moving into a neighborhood this Spring, it would be a great idea to have TruGreen Service. I have a corner lot. I wanted to keep the neighborhood looking good and decided to go with this company. HUGE MISTAKE. MY YARD IS THE ONLY YELLOW/BROWN YARD IN MOST OF THE TOWN. IT IS EMBARRASSING, TO SAY THE LEAST. I have called last Thursday about this and was told that someone would contact me in 48 hours. I called them and talked to Danielle today.I was told I would hear from the Manager within 48 hours. We will see what happens, but they better get ready for a law suit as my yard was luscious and green and so thick I could barely mow with my push mower. Now it is all burnt and dry, and it is not due to a lack of rain, as all my neighbors have beautiful green grass.
