This company deserves 0 stars. My husband and I joined their service cause of the high ratings and we got the full package with our lawn care. The first guy came out and spoke to my husband and said what he was going to be doing that day. He applied a mosquito and flea treatment to our lawn spreading out little yellow pebbles all over our lawn. Not once did the guy say to water your lawn after this is applied to your grass. So a few days have went by and we noticed our grass was turning brown and dying. It was horrible looking my husband call Tru Green and asked to speak to a supervisor or a manger a guy by the name of Jason was supposed to be calling us. Our service was supposed to to be put on hold. The following while at work tru green showed back up at our housing spraying more chemicals on our lawn when we specifically asked them to not spray anything on our lawn till we can an answer from a supervisor or someone for the way our lawn had looked! It's now been 3 weeks and we have yet to hear from anyone at Tru Green we have told them the past several weeks after calling daily to not come to our house and to cancel our service! And yet this morning guess who shows up at our house yet again! I don't know what is wrong with this company but they are absolutely horrible to deal with! When you tell them you want to cancel your service they clearly don't understand as they will keep calling and harassing you for there services! Do yourself a favor and find another lawn care company! read more

This is a terrible company. Not reliable keeps canceling appts. The service technician is not truthful. They have canceled at least 5 times for multiple reasons. These people are crooks and apparently I didn't learn my lesson from the 1st time I tried and dropped the service. But my being lazy and forgiving gave them another shot...my mistake! Their weed control is absolutely useless! Weeds are thriving, flowering and flourishing even better after the application. Almost mocking me! "Is that all you got bud?" Worst of all they added and charged me for a service I didn't request! Grub control...really? That's why I have freaking birds feeding in the yard after I'm done cutting. They absolutely SUCK! I would give a zero if possible! Services were promised then changed and getting a response from the Hagerstown Md office was challenging at best. They promised a fall aeration/re seeding and 2 days after signing they said the season had closed.....which was not to my liking. Very shaky group, sadly. read more

They have made my lawn grow better than ever before! It's a good value and they show up when they say they will and do the job! They do try to add services but you can decline and they will call to try to convince you to add services but after a year of working on my lawn I Learned to appreciate their advice! Horrible service. They think it's ok to say let's fix it after given 2 weeks to resolve from branch to corporate. Nobody calls or reaches out until I post a negative review. It's too late. Matt Where was the call to the several messages I left for someone at corporate to call me. For weeks. No reply. Had to post a message of horrible service to get a reply. True it is.l green is what after. But good Service is not. Your branch manager at Hagerstown is a joke!!! Horrible customer service!!! Called us liars. Really !! Pull up our darn history. I started their "services" in May -- at least that's when they started charging me. I randomly checked my camera last month and realized they ONLY did the front lawn and completely skipped the backyard (this is where our grass needs the most help, btw). The "Service Summary," however, said they applied it EVERYWHERE and they even said they "closed the gate when completed." ALL LIES -- as I never saw them in the camera. I called and complained so they came and "re-did" it. Asked the technician why he didn't do it the first time and said he got bit by a dog IN A PREVIOUS JOB and was scared to go inside the fence. The last thing I want to do is micromanage but I couldn't help to think and look back at the previous times they've "serviced" my property and wonder, did they actually do it? or were they scared of a violent non-existing dog? If you are considering TruGreen in Hagerstown you should run, not walk in the other direction. Their deceptive practices and quality of work will make you painfully regret any association with them. Using an arial map the salesman quoted us a price for a season of service. We paid for it in advance to save a little money. When the technician arrived to do our lawn he had the same arial map of our property on his tablet. He absolutely refused to treat the entire area that the salesman sold us on. He said that we didn't pay enough for that much area so he treated a little over half of the contracted area and he left.. We called TRuGreen and they said that the technician did not have the authority to make those decisions and agreed to make it right. They agreed to send a different technician out. When the same technician showed up the second time he absolutely refused to treat the remaining area AGAIN. He said that the salesman typically do this because they are only interested in their commission. Bottom line: We did not get what we paid for, the area that they treated still has weeds and is no greener than the area that they refused to treat. If I had the means to do so I would sue them for breach of contract. read more

My husband worked for this company (Hagerstown) so he knows how awful they are first hand. No organization, ethics, or care for the client. After he left the company he got calls for months from customers he got to use the service because TruGreen has missed their appointment. Sometimes the TruGreen truck would be at the neighbors and even though the house next door had an appointment the same day they would leave. I just cancelled TruGreen service today after being a full-year+ customer and I recommend that anyone interested in a lawn care service sign up with someone else. This is what happened: We signed up to have only our front lawn treated - not the back. We specifically do not want the back treated because we have a family dog that spends a lot of time out there and is a grass eater. I spoke with Tru Green sales about this (Hagerstown branch) at the beginning of our contract and was assured that there would be no confusion about this. I have since spent all year having to intercept the service people so that they only treat the front yard as this has not been in their "orders." As I've been working from home this has been possible, but stressful - juggling work meetings while having to wait for the truck to arrive so that I can run out front and intercept the worker. I've called Tru Green customer service multiple times asking that this being corrected and was always assured that it would be - and it never was. This morning at 7 am (before I realized that they had arrived) the yard was treated and YOU GUESSED IT - they treated the entire back yard. I let my dog out back before realizing it had been treated. A few minutes later I realized the service had occurred and I attempted to get in touch with someone at True Green to determine what was put on my back lawn and whether it would be toxic to my pet. It is not possible to speak to a human being from True Green until at least 8 am- one full hour after this occurred. At that point, it is someone from a customer service line who did their best to help me but seemed to have limited information about the product. I asked to speak to a manager because I was so angry and concerned and was told that a manager would contact me within 24 to 48 hours. Really? I requested a priority call and it's now 4 hours later and nothing. I tried to call the local Hagerstown branch and am routed to the general customer service number. I called a number that I had for sales in Hagerstown and have received no call back. I tried the virtual "chat" feature and was not able to reach an actual person. Evidently it's not possible to speak to a Tru Green manager about a health/safety and business quality issue for up to two days after THEIR MISTAKE. True Green, I have spent my morning researching the product you put on my lawn to determine whether it's a hazard to my pet and I'm now going to take time away from work to walk my dog since I can't let him out in my back yard for an undetermined amount of time. Goodbye True Green. I'm sorry that I ever signed up with you. I don't think that TruGreen will care that I cancelled service but maybe they'll care if others don't sign up. My recommendation to anyone considering lawn service is to use a different company. read more

Tried this service and was ok for few days! Then asked for service call and was told to wait till next service ! Was getting bit by dugs and then service day came they showed up at 6:50 then marked our service can't be done cause of locked gate and never came back later !!!! Now saying we have to wait till Tuesday. And still getting bit . They stink don't recommend at all poor service and they don't care about the people they service!!! read more

I must have gotten three calls for different dates for the aeration and top seeding call. Finally they came yesterday morning. Perfect timing as we got heavy rain, and it has been raining most of today, too. The lawn is looking pretty good this year. I don't see any bare patches and few weeds. Happy to no longer see any Japanese beetles or Box elder bugs; I believe the grub treatment killed them off. read more

I was reluctant to use a commercial service. My yard was over run with thisle and clover. First service killed most all weeds and clover. Treatment takes a bit of time to take effect. After doing the law they advised me of insect in my trees. They latter came and sprayed the trees. Service and communication has been good so far. I would recommend based on my experience to date. read more

Was not satisfied with predecessor company, but for the first visit by the new one, TruGreen, I have to admit it went far better than in the past. My specialist, Mike, came to the door, and solicited any issues or comments I had, and then proceeded to follow through on my suggestions. This never happened before! My very first lawn treatment killed the grass in my backyard, not the weeds. I have been calling them for over a month trying to get someone to come look at the damage and let me know how they will fix this. I have had 6 scheduled visits for a manager to come look at my lawn and no one has ever shown up or called me back. During all of this their lawn technicians continue to show up intending to do the next treatment. One of the technicians saw the damage and took pictures to send to his manager but nothing came of that. My yard is a mess. I wish I had checked reviews before calling them. read more

If you like violets in your yard, ignored phone calls, un-replied e-mails, then this is the company for you. I have been a customer for 12 years. The last two years violets starting coming up here and there. I only hear from service techs that its a hard weed to kill. yes it is.. That's why i'm paying you to get rid of them. Now the yard is being taken over by them. Phone calls fall on deaf ears. If the lawn had been treated properly with servicing of the complete property as scheduled, then there shouldn't be an issue with any weeds. Most of the time a different service tech comes each time. For the first time, this year i have had the same service tech 3 out of 5 times. John Foreman is a excellent tech and makes sure the complete property gets treated. A service tech who's name begins with a M doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. Not one mention of violets or possible grubb infestation.. But he did know i was cutting my grass to short. He must have a crystal ball because it had been approx 16 days since the last mow. Grass is always cut at 3.5". read more
