I Rarely write reviews for anything, but this company has me just about boiling mad! The handyman showed up in a van that was not a company vehicle, but one for an audio and video installation company. (First red flag.) The appointment was for 8:30am but apparently the guy had trouble locating my apartment despite specific and detailed directions. (Second red flag.)
The handyman himself, Rick, was very nice, but a liar in the end.
He was here to replace a door handle and deadbolt and install a new storm door. While he did (mostly) accomplish those jobs in about six hours, he wasn't able to Complete the job of installing a storm door sweep.
There's about an inch-high gap between the bottom of the door and the concrete threshold that's letting a lot of cold or in. Early in the day Rick pointed this out and said he would put a sweep on the same day. Later in the afternoon he said he wouldn't be able to do that until the next morning (yesterday).
Yesterday morning the scheduling guy, Ed, called me to see how everything went with Rick. I asked about the sweep and he said 'oh yes, of course Rick will be over today to install it." He didn't come. No one called.
Today I woke up to a freezing kitchen and called Handyman Matters to ask when Rick was coming. The woman I spoke with said there was nothing even in the notes about Rick coming back at all! Then she said he definitely couldn't come today because he was booked all day and that he probably couldn't get here till Monday! FIVE days after the job!!! I asked her to have another handyman come today. She said she'd check and call me back.
When she called back it was to inform me that not only was no one coming today, but no one was coming until Tuesday! She went on to explain that both Ed and Rick had supposedly told me they'd come back sometime next week. That's when I lost it! No one called yesterday to tell me Rick wasn't coming or to tell me when he'd be coming! On the contrary: Ed and Rick Both told me the job would be completed yesterday! I understand that things come up and there can be scheduling conflicts, but to outright LIE about a commitment made to me by Two employees?!?
At least admit when you've screwed up and apologize! Don't LIE and deny what you said. read more
