I called to get an estimate and then was pressured to sign up on the call. When I said I had another return call from another company to talk to first, they wanted to close the deal right away with a lot of sales pressure. I was told the deal was null and void if I didn't sign up right away so we ended the call. I had a return call the next day from Ann at the local office who said this was not the way the call should have been handled and wanted to see how she could help me. She took time to listen to understood what I needed and didn't try to oversell me. She did explain some other services they have but it was no pressure, which I very much appreciated and am considering. I paid for service for Grubs in my lawn. Over two weeks ago. I paid to have my neighbors lawn at the same time. I called them to ask what happened and he said it had been done last week. When I told him that me and my neighbor's had cameras up. And that no one was on our property's. He said that he made a mistake and said they would be out this week. Long story short they called said they was going to do it. But only one lawn. And now it could be six weeks before they do my neighbor's lawn. I told them I had paid for this service two weeks ago. I have more weeds than my neighbor and he doesn't do anything to his lawn. I have used TruGreen for several years and their service just keeps going downhill. They never show up, they have hardly done anything except try to upsell me on additional crap. I unfortunately paid this year in advance, but I will never do business with them again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! Terrible aeration service!! We've used TruGreen for fertilization for several years. Decided to try them for aeration of our lawn. Paid in advance for both aeration and seeding of our yard (was a mistake!). "Aeration" service showed up this morning and when I returned home the yard was a total mess. Chunks (6 inches to 1 ft in size) of our lawn were torn out and just left lying there, both in the yard and on our driveway. Seed was thrown on the open area where the grass was torn off. No attempt to reset the grass pieces. There appear to be many areas that were not aerated and no other seed was thrown onto lawn. To say I'm disappointed and disgusted is an understatement! There is no way to contact the service location directly so I'm stuck reporting it to the National call center. If this is not completely rectified, all future services will be cancelled. read more

I called on Sept 1 was told they would be out the 8th. Called on the eight now it's the 13th. Meanwhile we are ruining shoes from the orange brown fungus dust and my lawn is dying. When talking to them it was clear all they care about is collecting money and not servicing the account. Told a supervisor may call me in 24 to 48 hours. Same as last time. We will see if they call this time. Don't do the prepay. While you save a couple dollars you are then stuck with poor service for the year. I have also had to pull plenty of crab grass and I get lots of clover. All stuff their service should resolve. The person who comes to the house seems nice enough but their overall management is horrible and non responsive. read more

I have been a TruGreen customer for 19 years and only 3 times requested a return visit. I called this week and the person on the phone said, no we can't do that. No explanation, just no. Then a few hours later a truck rolls up and I thought they changed their mind. But no, it was for a scheduled grub service. But the tech asked if I had any concerns so I told him what happened. Jesse apologized several times and went out of his way to contact his home office to see if he could add the weed killer to the grub maintenance. After getting approval he came back to the door, apologized again, and told me I should see the weeds dying in 7-10 days. This is superior customer service! read more

If I could give a ZERO I would. We paid in full for misquito care where the company guarantees they will come out within 48 hours if someone has been bitten my a misquito. They treated our yard in the rain, and we had misquitoes everywhere within days. I phoned and they promised a retreat. I phoned and was told on FIVE OCCASIONS we were on the schedule. FIVE no-shows. I even drove to the office hoping to resolve this. There is a sign on the door that the public can't enter because of Covid. You can't reach the Portage location by phone directly. I wish there was a zero star rating because that's what TruGreen deserves. My husband paid $212 for approximately 3-4 mosquito treatments. They have a zero bite guarantee. That means if you're bitten by a mosquito, they'll come out and respray the yard at no additional charge. I was eaten alive by mosquitoes all summer unless I put on bug repellent, which was what we were trying to avoid when we had the treatments done. I asked my husband several times if he had actually witnessed the treatments being done because I had serious doubts that anything had been applied to the lawn. He did not actually witness anything because why would we need to babysit a company that's coming to our home to perform a service for which we paid? Every time I was bitten they would come back out and respray (I think).........I would be bitten, they'd respray.......this cycle repeated itself all summer. We couldn't even sit on our deck without bug repellent! The frustrating thing is that we spent a lot of money to have this service done and it didn't even work. No compensation was offered. In all reality, we'd like a full refund, but we know that's not going to happen. Instead we'll warn anyone considering having TruGreen spray for mosquitoes: DO NOT DO IT!!! Save your money! What words are brought to mind when I think of Trugreen? Well firstly DISHONEST, SNEAKY, UNDERHANDED and things cloesly related to these phrases. I had friends who worked here and had service for our house and several family houses. I have yet to head anything good related to the mention of this company. NEVER EVER prepay or have a mail to address with Trugreen. The technicians have a way of not doing the services but taking credit that they did. We had a security camera installed on his garage due to drunken idiots occasiocally driving through the yard. This same camera watched a trugreen truck pull up, knock on the door, get back in the truck for a few minutes and walk the ticket up to the door. Talk about ballsy! I talked to the branch manager "Barry" about this issue. Barry had a unique way of being extremely condescending and kind of a jerk all at once. He seemed very uninterested in what I had to say. He went out of his way to cut this conversation very short almost like he could not be bothered to talk to me. He said they would put me on call ahead list to let us know the day they were coming and they would reprimand the individual. I dont know if he was having a bad day or what, but someone in a position of a branch manager I would expect to be extremely professional and maybe understanding to unpleasant circumstances. I was not even being irrate and plus I had a video of some tool blowing my $65. Later on that summer I watched another technician hop out with a backpack sprayer spot treat our weeds (a few at that) and call it a day. That does not sound like it was worth $65 does it? On the other hand my grandmother (in a nearby city) prepaid for five services. She saves ALL of her reciepts. At the end of the year guess how many door tickets she had. She had TWO. Actually three forgive me. One was also mailed to her. Tell me, if you were at her house and did the service. Why would you need to mail it? Aside from that she had not seen one of their flags in the yard since the early summer. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE RUN AWAY! This was our experience with TruGreen In Michigan. They never showed up on time. I was told three weeks ago they would show up and never did. They sprayed our lawn May 29th. They were supposed to spray again in June they never did. Yesterday they finally showed up sprayed and charged us DOUBLE because they said they weren't able to get there in June. Plus they sprayed our back yard when we made it VERY VERY clear that we did not want our back yard serviced because we have small children and a dog that we do not want to have get sick from the chemicals. Horrible service, horrible customer service. CANCELLED RIGHT AWAY! I am telling everyone do NOT use this company. read more

I have a rental property in Kalamazoo, MI and have been fairly happy with Trugreen for awhile now. Every year however the business has dropped in service! Last year they striped the homes lawn not once but twice. The year before they killed patches of the lawn with over applying herbicide. Then they failed to tell us we had sod web worm damage until they killed 1/4 of the lawn! We had several service calls to have it looked at before a manager came out and said it was insect related. It honestly seems the only real experience they receive is distinguishing what a weed is! What an awful experience. I setup a free consultation for a customized tree/shrub plan. I was told that the consultation would happen and the technician performing the consultation would discuss with me whether or not the plan would work for my custom tree/shrub situation. The technician was scheduled to arrive between 7am-12pm on the day of service. I made sure to be home to discuss the assessment. By 3pm, the technician had still not arrived. Security footage of the home revealed that the technician arrived at 3:33pm, and instantly applied fertilizer to roughly half of the trees on the property. By 3:40, the technician left a bill at the door for the service. The bill said that the technician had knocked on the door to see if I was home, which was a lie. Additionally, no assessment occurred. I later checked my online TruGreen account which revealed that I was double charged for two services - one charge for the 3:33-3:40pm service, another from 4:50-4:51pm. However, there was no technician present and no service occurred from 4:50-4:51 as I was home at that time. After talking with multiple customer service reps, I was refunded for the second charge and was told I would be refunded for the first, given that I ordered an initial assessment, and not fertilizer treatment. This was escalated to managers who sent the same technician back to my home for the assessment. Two weeks later, and no word at all from the technician. Called to cancel service, and was told that they would not refund me for the initial treatment since they have no proof of "what transpired between you and the sales rep". Whatever, I'll gladly pay to be done with this company. Overall, there is no way to trust that this company performs the services they say they will since they complete the services when people are not home. I would give zero stars to the overall service. The one star goes to customer service, who seem very knowledgeable and willing to work with you. I just wish the quality of the service matched. read more

This company is truly a sham of a business. They missed multiple appointments, which we usually found out about days afterwards when we would get a notification that they couldn't make the appointment. The mosquito control we paid for was a joke, and half the time they never even came to spray, even after we reported seeing mosquitoes. One time they arrived at our house and sat in our driveway for 2 hours. They never got out of the truck. And then we got a notification that they couldn't do our lawn service that day - LITERALLY WHILE THEY WERE SITTING AT OUR HOUSE! Any time we would contact the company to complain it fell upon deaf ears and was met with total indifference. The final straw was today, when we just got a notification that they completed our lawn service today. We have been working from home all day - no one from TruGreen came to do any kind of service. We paid up front for a service that we barely received. Not only will I not recommend this company, but I will tell everyone I know what a dishonest, deceitful, and apathetic company this is. read more

I love the fact that they take care of my yard when I am not there to do it. Fertilizer and weed killer, my yard looks great. Also did the mosquito spraying and wasn't bitten all summer. For our grandchildren that was fantastic. They even gave us ideas to help keep it that way. I have used them for 4 Year's and plan on continuing to in the future. read more
