New customer here and I'm not really sure where to start. I typically am at work when they arrive and have not been able to observe an application, but I have cameras throughout my yard, and they have not triggered a single camera, but I still was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Today I was lucky enough to be present for the application and my fears of poor service were confirmed. The service technician is holding the sprayer only a foot off the ground so it is not spreading across the lawn at all. Furthermore, the entire backyard was completed in less than 2 minutes with only 5 passes, so an entire portion of the lawn was missed. The entire side of my house was skipped but luckily, I was able to confront the tech before he drove away, asking why he skipped the entire side of my house. Even after correcting his mistake, the side was done in a matter of seconds, and he was more frustrated than apologetic. I've left a poor review after the last application and an increase in weeds ,and the technician came back a few days later with a hand pump container and spreader which did absolutely nothing. I really do hope things turn around and plan on calling the office to get another technician as I have heard good things in other TruGreen locations, but at the end of the day, it comes down to your technician being thorough and as of today and several applications later, I have no positive results. read more

Regardless of how attractive their pricing may seem compared to competitors, the service quality is so poor you'll wish you had paid the difference. I started with them in August 2024. They came in September and October, then again in April and May. After that--nothing. They were completely absent for all of June and July. I called multiple times to ask what was going on and was repeatedly told they come every 4-6 weeks. Once we passed the 6-week mark, they kept assuring me I was "on the schedule," but the date kept getting pushed back. By the time my lawn finally received service again--today, August 15--it had been since May 31. In the meantime, my grass developed weeds and brown spots from essentially going the entire summer without treatment. Today's service was equally disappointing. The technician rushed through my yard, skipped areas, and didn't realize I was watching him. At one point, he was throwing seed onto my front lawn by hand. My property is over two acres, yet he was gone in under 10 minutes. Worst service you could possibly ask for. If you notice, their Guaranteed, doesn't allow you to get you money back. They don't even stand behind their service. They only offer free service and that's if you pay annually. read more

After getting several quotes from local companies I decided to go with a smaller family owned business. Fast forward to today, where the rep followed up with me. I explained I chose someone else and he started becoming very disrespectful, rude, and kept harassing me to try and savor a sale that was lost. The service and customer service at this company is horrible! I received a message that they applied the first application on 3/20/25, but I was traveling. I returned that evening and there were no flags on the property or notes on the door confirming the work was done. What has followed is unbelievable. - 3/22 (~30 minutes on the phone) called and spoke with customer service, and they agreed it was likely the application was applied to my neighbor's lawn. Schedule service for the week of 3/24. - 3/29 (~1 hour on the phone) no one came that week and called customer service. Rep said no one had put in a request to come that week. Scheduled a follow up visit for today (4/1 April Fools). - 4/1 (~2 hours on the phone) the specialist shows up and makes a decision not to apply the application. We called customer service and given the runaround, with many excuses. My wife calls and speaks to a rep and seemingly gets the matter addressed with someone scheduled for this Friday. I receive a follow up call from their management to make sure they address our concerns. The manager (Justin) goes on to say that no one scheduled us (second time) for Friday and the best they can do is the following Monday. Buyer beware! I had Trugreen company for several years and my lawn looked horrible. If grass was growing before, after their lawn applications - it stopped, instead - i was getting a lot of weeds, garbage grass, bold areas, etc. Mosquitos service I paid for - didn't do any difference and I had plenty of mosquitos in my yard. In addition, all my fruit trees had some kind of disease, but Trugreen was promised to take care of my trees with the shrub service. I have videos of Trugreen staff coming in for less than 5 minutes and leaving without doing any seeding, aeration and applications. I was so discussed with their services, called the company, complained, but they would dispatch another technician who would do the same things - nothing. I canceled their services. Yet, this year - the company called me back bagging for my business. I spoke with Mia, who assured me that she will be my customer account manager and I can call her if there are any issues or text (she sent me the phone number). She also got Christian (supervisor) on a phone and two of them convinced me once again to sign up for their services and give them another chance. They assured me that this year - things will be different, as they are serious about customer service, hired new people and are going to be using new products. I prepaid over the phone with my credit card (stupid me). All I asked was to send me the receipt in the email with the details of the services I signed up for. I got crickets - nothing. I called the number left to me by Mia and texted to the number - nothing. I called the next day and canceled the services. When you hire a lawn service company you want one that you can trust, you shouldn't have to be home to see what you are actually getting, or should I say not getting. I called Tru Green for a price quote. Two hours later I received a call from them with a lower price, and hour after that they called again with even a lower price.The games they play. Luckily, I was home for the first application. They missed applying fertilizer to 1/3 of my lawn. They never sprayed my weeds and the receipt of what they said they put down was not what they applied. The person who sold me this program, said to call him directly not the one 800 number he would take care of all issues. I called him three times and left two messages. He never called back. The first two times I called the 800 number for a refund each person said they took care of it and the refund was applied, but it was not applied until the third time I called. Would not recommend this service at all. We use Trugreen for lawn care and tick and mosquito care. This will be our last season. Caught the tech on camera spraying chemical up in the air (not at anything) in the back of our yard for a minute in one spot, that was their tick and mosquito control.... She did nothing else that even the past techs have done when spraying. Plan to upload to social media and share with their corporate office. My grass has never been worse since using this company. It's quite amazing to discover the other reviews of True Green on this website because our experience in CT was exactly the same. "Cowboys" I'd call them. The level of not caring is just on another level. In fact, it's so odd that you'd almost think they are trying to sink their own company for whatever reason. Our lawn was overrun with weeds that killed off all our grass. We had to have it resowed by a landscaper. Truegreen's excuse on the phone was that we should have told them that there were still weeds despite the visits. But no sorry that's your job. That's why people pay for a rolling contract: so they don't have to worry about it. Besides. there weren't just "some" weeds, it was overrun with weeds of many different types. If you're a gardener it's your job to spot it straight away. And it's also your job to send a manager round to inspect the work of your gardeners once in a while. The finish was just as bad as the start: We were supposed to have a last free visit from them and their guy just looked around and said "yeah man, there''s nothing to do on this garden. it looks good to me." And he left. Never have I seen a business that seemed so determined to sink their business in such a proactive way. They will fail to perform proper work, give you the run around any time you call to complain and do everything possible, including lie to you and spam your phone, consistently telling you they will fix a problem only to keep you on their billing list without actually fixing the problem. Each and every person you talk to will tell you they have no idea what you're talking about despite the previous representative telling you they left a detailed report. They will miss sections of your grass, spray your garden with fertilizer that is not intended for gardens and climb over your fence despite having the code on file. You will be told by one technician that you don't need service you are paying for, another will tell you that their product actually burns grass and when you bring it up to the complaint division as your grass is burnt they will disregard this statement. You're better off taking a torch to your lawn. You will get the same result without actually having to pay monthly for it. 3 years of me attempting to cancel my services and literally being harassed and lied to about free makeovers to make up for the money and time wasted. Their solution was to lie to me, tell me they were going to stop billing and fix the problem only to continue to bill me, not fix the problem and harass me with multiple "managers" contacting me every time saying they would personally fix the issue and not even show up. Expecting not to be getting a bill anymore as this is what I was told, imagine my surprise when I realized I'd been billed all summer long into the fall after attempting to cancel the services 2 years in a row. BBB contacted and a very minor refund was issued just so they could say they refunded me. The problem is the refund was only half of the year for the year that I was told I wouldn't be billed for as it was their attempt to fix a 2 year problem. They messed up 3 years in a row, continued to hound me to stay on with them despite repeated demands to cancel their services and billing. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE company steer clear. read more

TruGreen "completed" an aeration and overseeding of my lawn last week. After noticing this weekend that most of the lawn appeared to have little or no seed and certain spots had a great deal of seed, I took a look at my security cameras. I was shocked to see the employee doing the overseeding push the spreader to various locations and then run around my yard throwing handfuls of seed. Additionally, 2/3s of the hill in my front yard was never aerated or seeded. After being charged $590.00 I'm not too happy with the incomplete job! Update: iI received a call back from the office apologizing and stating they would be sending a new crew out on 9/16 to finish the aeration and overseed the whole lawn. The crew arrived at 7:30 and did a thorough job. Later in the day on 9/16 the first crew arrived at my next door neighbor's to do his yard. They proceeded to tear a big patch out of the hill in my yard which had just been over seeded that morning. Once again they missed large swaths of his yard while aerating. He contact the office to complain. A crew was sent over to redo his yard. This crew proceed to aerate and reseed my entire yard instead, tearing up numerous spots. Been a customer for several years. My bad. 1 acre property with beautiful lawn destroyed in last 6 weeks due to grubs and cinch bugs. They sent 3 specialists out which said fungus, poor drainage, and all three tried to upsell me products I didn't need. They cant even dig a little hole and see all the insect activity. Now the barren soil is filled with wasps nests. Nothing left. $1,500 to till lawn, aerate, and reseed. When I called to terminate they just tried to sell me more stuff. Had to tell them they are no longer allowed on the property before they allowed me to cancel. Total disgrace. Please find some other place to help with your lawn care. Epic disaster. read more

I have been very disappointed w/ Trugreen service this year (last few years it was ok and my loan was getting better and better until 2023....): 1. Bad communication from Trugreen side that ended up with two double applications two times in a raw that badly damaged my grass. Now it's about 60% yellowish. 2. I requested inspection that occurred in my absence with no subsequent response to me at all until I made a call and found out that no issues were found..... 3. I assume that "inspector" doesn't distinguish between yellow and green colors, but it should not be my problem especially if I pay $75/ 1 application. My lawn looks terrible and no one is available at Trugreen. The TruGreen website is very, very lame. I've tried to get an update on my service plan (next application date for weed killer) three different times. Each time I did not get meaningful answers from the virtual assistant and was required to re-login (w secondary verification) to start chatting. A waste of time, since wait times for live chat help on line were crazy (54 people in front of me). When I gave up and called the toll free TruGreen phone today's wait time was quoted as 1-2 hours. I selected call back, but really?! This poor customer service reflects very badly on the company. It seems that there is no leadership or concern for customer care. i signed up with TruGreen last October, because my grass needed a lot of work. Particularly with crab grass. I was happy at first with the improvements that was made. Until the month of June. Then the appointment blow offs started without giving me any notice. They came today FINALLY to fertilizes & use use crab grass control. I only got fertilizer and no crab grass control. I am so upset. I thought this was a good company. My fault not checking out these terrible reviews on Yelp, Facebook, and Google. I am done when my contract is up this fall. I will update this review to see how i am treated for the rest of my contract. Update : I called Ryan my Sales Rep on July 8th about my complaint. He said he'd take care of the situation with the crab grass and weeds. It's July 29th and I haven't heard a peep from him. Ryan had no problem taking my $500 las October. I really enjoy writing positive reviews but that's not going to happen here. As a value proposition it made sense to use Trugreen vs. me doing it myself. I only wish their results matched their hype. I signed up for a year and had 2 services and TruGreen had to come back after each service because the quality of each app was horrible. Actually I think I had more weeds after their application than before. Why, I'm not happy? See my pictures below and you will see why. I really used to enjoy working on my yard but getting older and traveling made it difficult to care for. So, I decided to try TruGreen because I seen their trucks around town. Evidently, they don't check for everything because 2 weeks after their last application I was cutting the grass and noticed something wasn't right. I grabbed a rake and noticed my grass was peeling up in sheets. I did a little checking and evidently I was infested with grubs. Called TruGreen multiple times, and they came out, then they said they do their bug control in the spring and I started service in July time frame so you are out luck. No, I'm actually out $385 I paid them plus another $4000 to clean up and put turf back on in the spring. In the photos the nice green lawn is what my lawn started out as. I hate to leave bad reviews but this one is very well deserved. I was a Turf Masters customer for years and then last year they were bought out by TruGreen. All of my neighbors opted out of the service and switched over to a another local company at the beginning of the year but I gave TruGreen a shot. A week ago I paid my bill in full for the year. Only to realize two days later that TruGreen had charged my checking account approximately 5 more times with the same amount being charged each time. I brought this to their attention 6 days ago from the time of this review and all they can tell me is that they are still trying to fix the problem. This caused an overdraft of the checking account and has caused the need to reallocate funds so that my family has food in the refrigerator. As if things couldn't get worse, today I received a service and left a non-erected tent laying flat in my backyard to air out. The technician, John, drove around the tent and never applied the chemicals to the approximately 12'x12' spot in the center of my backyard. I called John because he left his number and he said that he moved the tent and apologized for not putting it back where he found it. I asked him if he was sure he moved it and he said yes but that he only moved it a bit to add the fertilizer. It wasn't until I told him that my security monitors were recording the backyard that he admitted that he did not move the tent, didn't apply the application, and promised to return in the morning to actually complete the job. This is inexcusable. First you over charge me by almost a thousand dollars and cause me to overdraft an account that I buy my groceries out of and pay my mortgage but then your technicians lie about applying the fertilizer until I tell them that they were recorded and promise to not tell their supervisors if they come back and fix the problem. Not once has TruGreen offered to compensate for any type of loss. The people I spoke with on the phone have been great but I assure you that I will be filing with the BBB and seeing if there is any type of legal action I can take. They have been treating our lawn for several years and they actually did a very good job, until this August I am assuming something was wrong with the mixture in the truck when they came out to preform a weed control service within several days, my lawn started dying. We left several messages with customer service to have someone call us back and they never returned our calls. My husband went to the Rocky Hill branch and ended up speaking with a so-called manager Jason Johns he came out to the house and confirmed that the treatment did kill the lawn and they were going to come out and aerate and recede our lawn at no charge. Needless to say they never showed. We reached out to corporate and the local branch in Rocky Hill and they have not had the decency to call us back, very poor management from this company.
