I have now discontinued TruGreen since spring of 2024 and my lawn is starting to look amazing. I still need to work on the burn spots, but some compost over the bad areas really helps the St. Augustine take over. I now use a special non burn blend of fertilizer plus minerals from Southwest Fertilizer and have had no problems. I wish I had taken a before picture to show the amazing difference without TruGreen. This company is a total scam, a classic bait and switch. What they promise: - "Your plan includes the following services to provide the exact help your lawn needs at key stages THROUGHOUT the year." per the sales invoice. - An annual care package of 9 treatments spaced out 4-6 weeks that will last the duration of one year. Pre-paying saves you money. - Service is paused for two months during the winter and with treatments every 4-6 weeks it's spaced out to last the entire year. What they deliver: - They race through the pre-paid services as fast as possible to get to billing you per visit as soon as possible. (The burned through all these visits in less than 8 months and immediately started billing me per visit) - They paused for one month; December. - The treatments are spaced 4 weeks OR LESS apart. (Some treatments were 3 weeks apart, which they told me could damage my lawn). - They'll notify your the day of their visit so you can't prepare access ahead of time. - My Lawn has never looked worse, we had to re-sod almost 900sf as it was dead. - They also left my gate wide open letting our brand new puppy out (thankfully we found him). Your initial call is to a domestic sales person, you might think they're in the local branch, they're not. However, after you're a customer you're routed directly to a call center in India who are happy to tell you that you didn't understand the salesman and this is the program I signed up for, of course they can't explain why "the program" is for a seemingly random 9 visits over the course of 8 months but definitely not meant to last a year. In fact they can't provide you with any sort of contract or framework for the program at all. Note: they are verbatim still offering the exact same "one year" of service to this this day. All this was brought to their attend a number of times, and they could not care less. I knew the reviews were bad going in and I thought I had protected myself. If you have an issue, they will make it their mission to not fix it but do everything they can to keep you on the service and make you waste call after call. The people they send out are a never ending train of brand new employees who don't know anything about grass or weeds or the products they are putting down. The last one that was here told me that everyone else on his route had the same complaints - noone from the branch calls them back, ruined lawns, etc. He actually said that it's probably the product. I had a nice lawn when I started this service a year and a half ago, it's now the worst in the neighborhood, by far. I have been a customer of Tru Green Lawn Care since 1998. I noticed the my boxwood bushes, that I have in different locations in my yard started turning brown. I called to have service specialist come out. I called them on August 8th. I felt it was urgent and they came out on August 13th. The technician said that she thought the bushes were watered too much or too little or insect infestation or fungus. After questioning her further she said she was a recent hire. I had an application on my yard on July 29th at which they sprayed for insects and fungus. They didn't put any additional notifications on their work order.that they had any concerns with my property. I asked for a manager to come out but I wasn't able to get a response back as of yet. TruGreen is a horrible company. It was the worst decision to hire TruGreen for lawn service. The technician did not treat my entire yard like I requested and paid for. He or she did not treat the entire left side of my house and several other areas in the front yard and back yard. I requested that a technician come back out in 24 hours to do a complete job and I was told 3 to 5 business days was the only option. This all occurred today which is my initial service. Using TruGreen resulted in complete ruin of my yard! I called with my concerns in early February and a technician came to inspect the yard on 2/10/21. He said he would need to consult with his manager who would contact me. No response . So I called on 2/22/21 & was asked to send photos. I was told it would be forwarded to both a supervisor & a manager & I should expect a response in a few days. No response by 2/26/21. Emailed the individual who requested photos to ensure receipt. No reply/response By 3/1/21 phoned customer service again who confirmed receipt of photos & documentation of calls. I don't think they deserve the one star I'm giving them. The techs were horrible, they would come do a service, then leave my gate open. I asked before the second and third visit if they could please close my gate...they failed to do that. The tech just walked away like there was no gate to go in and out of. I was told there were Saturday services that could accommodate my concern about the gate being open, and I could be flexible to be home to talk to a tech or close the gate on my own. Then I received a call that they do not do Saturday services. I told the rep to just cancel my services because they cannot follow directions and folks are not in the same page about their services. A rep called me a week ago to convince me to give them another shot. He was convincing enough that I agreed if the tech could come out this week so I could monitor them closing my gate while I am at home. He agreed that I'd receive a call to schedule service. The call for service this week came on Wednesday. I asked the rep on the phone to call me back between 1-3pm the same day. No one called. The next day I canceled for real. Another rep called later on Thursday to change my mind. I let her know my reason why I was walking away. She was nice, and she canceled my service with true green. Today, I received a call from a guy that works for true green. He told me I had to talk to him, and explain to him for a third time why I want to leave, or I'll never be able to end my services. I told him the situation one more time, but he kept talking over me. I brought that to his attention. This guy told me that I was being passive aggressive, he wasn't going to change my mind, he also called me a dick, and if I did not hang up on him, he was well on his way to calling me the n word. The call was recorded. I called and informed a manager about this representative's behavior. I'm waiting on a call back. I'll never use true green again. They are horrible. read more

Do not use this service. I paid for a full year in advance in 2023 and 2024. Today is 3/11/24. My yard is full of fungus and brown spots. My neighbors yards are lush and green and they don't have a lawn service. I called and complained last week and they sent someone out to treat the lawn. I was told to put topsoil on all of the places where my grass had died and someone else would be coming out in two weeks to treat the brown spot and fungus. My question is why do I have this problem to begin with and why is it my responsibility to buy topsoil? In two weeks I will have more dead grass. I have followed all required watering recommendations with my automated irrigation system. The amount of money, time, and headache I spent on an entire year of trugreen service in my yard and it looks like this, there is not one excuse this stupid company can ever give the justifies that. I used to work for a landscaping company and I have always had the healthiest best thickest luscious green is Lawn on the block. I am very familiar with chemicals fertilizers soil management and everything involving landscaping. Due to some unforeseen personal schedule challenges, I hired trugreen to help, or so I thought. Since then, all they have done is make excuses, literally, and my yard has more weeds and looks worse than when they started and ever before. - They haven't killed weeds in my yard since I started in Feb. - I have areas of grass that are just low and bear, not filling in, and or are completely dying, neighbors that don't even use a paid service yards look better than mine. - To make matters worse, Trugreen applied Double the annual application of sulfur to my lawn within 5 days (see attachment) starting the death of it. - Technicians have showed up multiple times after I cancelled or rescheduled appts with more than sufficient notice and while my gate was locked, so through my video doorbell while I was in meetings at work, I had to tell them they can't perform and unscheduled/unplanned service that day. -On days when they were supposed to show up, I used a vacation day to stay home from work, pick the yard up, keep the dog in, dog poops all over my house, no one shows up ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. read more

I have been a customer for two years. Paid almost $1,000 per year for lawn service (fertilizer, weed control, etc.), mosquito control, aeration. The mosquito control did reduce the number of mosquitos, so the get one star for that. Unfortunately, the lawn is worse after two years than it was when I started. We contracted with True Green for a full year and paid in advance. DO NOT DO THIS EVER! I was not very impressed with any improvement on our lawn. After completing the year's contract they automatically renewed the contract and are billing me for $200. They never contacted me about the renewal and now they are harassing's me for payment. When I spoke to their customer service department I told them to stop the service and I would like to speak to a manager about the disputed balance. They told me I would hear from a manager within two days. That was over a week ago. Now I am getting their ROBO calls again every day. Worst customer service ever! read more

Horrible. One of the stipulations that I demanded was that the service calls must be made when I was at home in order to unlocked the access gate to the backyard. Had an unfortunate incident where I had a draw my pistol on a security salesman that walked into my back yard jiggling the back door. Well back to the review, I told the salesman that absolutely no Thursdays for service. Guess what, the asshole would call on Thursday wanting me to open the gate while I was at work in order for him to spray the yard. I had to drop everything in order not to get billed for a visit where the prick nothing just to stand around. I reminded the office about the, "NO THURSDAYS". I called the 5th day, they said they were trying to contact a crew and would call me back. Never called me back (Friday). Monday was a holiday, I called them Tuesday, and They said they were trying to get a crew to come out, it would be done by Friday. They never came, or called, or emailed. Nothing that their message they present you with, while on hold, claims of their company. So Going on 3 weeks, grass is High, city fines, and no communication on their end. Such a disappointment. I am a longtime customer who used TruGreen in Ohio and Texas (1991-present. However, TruGreen Texas has become unreliable servicing my Texas home. Too often, they have confirmed appointments only to be a NO SHOW/NO CALL. (last month 4-consecutive days). My gate is lock. So I unlock the gate with the lock in-place (Tech knows to relock after service) 4-days and we keep our very protective dog inside on the day of the service call until completed. Last month, we discovered AT&T and Utility workers wondering around in the backyard without prior notification and/or permission. We and those unannounced workers were very fortunate our dog was inside. I submitted a written complaint listing my grievances and concerns. I also listed what TruGreen can do to make it right! Trugreen LawnCare is the worst contractor I've come in contact with in my 23 years as a homeowner.They repeatedly serviced my lawn without prior authorization, then billed me. Then, they only credited my account when requested. After becoming frustrated with this happening repeatedly, I cancelled my service. They called and offered me a free treatment if I remained a customer. I agreed, they serviced my lawn, then billed me again. They have now sent my $53 account to a collection agency. I will pay because it's not worth fighting over $53. But, I will report them to the BBB so others won't suffer. read more

Here is my series of events: - Treated for Chinch bugs - Treated for weeds - weeds still kept growing - I call concerned, the same technician returned, obviously annoyed that he had to come back and with an attitude explained to me how there's nothing they can do for the "grassy weeds" and treats the other weeds he missed -I call to cancel they offered for a manager to come and assess instead -no manager calls so I call to cancel -national office calls a week later to apologize and offer a manager come assess -no manager ever calls or comes -I get a email that TruGreen is in route to complete services that I did not approve. I call and a lady in the accounts office has me explain all of this again & tells me how there is nothing they can do and no one else will be able to do anything about them either, as if I caused this issue with the company. I am aware that these may me difficult weeds to kill. If you cannot do it and you are suggesting I use Roundup, why am I paying you a premium to do nothing? Customer since 2006 and I am not sure why. Half of front lawn dies yearly and first they say brown patch. When I call back because more dies they are cinch bugs and finally when more grass is gone I am told they are grubs. GET IT RIGHT. I looked back at all services, since you can do this now online, and this happened yearly! Even lost a tree due to pests they are supposed to prevent. I fired this company this week because for the second time they wouldn't do the service to my lawn because they refused to park in my driveway. There is construction on my street which prevents street parking, and it will continue all year. I called to inform them of this and give permission to just park in the driveway. They wouldn't do it. I refuse to pay for services they won't render because they're incapable of adapting to what must be a common situation. Even calling to cancel my account was an ordeal as their automated system never connects to a real person, but rather puts you on hold for 2-3 hours, or you can get on their call back list and receive a call 2-3 hours later. When I talked to a representative, finally, about canceling, she had the nerve to tell me she hoped I'd come back after the construction was done. I laughed and said, "Not likely." Unbelievable! I since have found a local company that came out the next day to service my lawn, and they were all to happy to park in my driveway. And a human answers their phone. Used Tru Green in Midland TX and they were wonderful. My yard looked great. So, I gave the Woodlands Tru Green office a call and signed up. One side of my yard looked good but the other side looked a little wimpy. Now after being with them for 8 months, my yard is dead. I left repeated messages for someone to call me or meet me at my house to discuss what was happening. They never responded. I think that the company is only as good as their employees, servicing a particular area. So, if you live in The Woodlands, Spring or Tomball, call another lawn care provider. read more

I normally do not take the time to write a review, but because of the cost of this service, and the dissatisfaction, I decided to write a review. TruGreen says they guarantee their service, but they don't. The main reason we tried TruGreen was due to fungus problems. We read that a strong, healthy lawn was the best defense, and incorrectly assumed that TruGreen would provide that. We also incorrectly assumed that if we did have a problem, it would be addressed immediately to prevent the spread and damage to the lawn (because the sales person assured me they would be responsive). October 1st, we saw a fungus issue, after multiple (frustrating) emails, a call to Customer Service, two TruGreen technician visits (NEITHER had a clue about the fungus, nor the chemicals to treat), a few more calls from TruGreen reps, and a couple delays, 30 days later, a technician came out and spot treated the fungus, which by now had spread. It continued to spread, so we treated the lawn ourselves a second time. So now, we're going into winter with multiple brown spots on our lawn. We had planned to use TruGreen a second year, but cancelled, due to their lack of service. I do not recommend them at all!! read more
