I've dealt with a lot of banks in my many years on this planet. I judge them on their customer service alone, because, after all, banks are banks. But when I drive up to a window and ask for them to exchange $10 bills for quarters so I can do my laundry, I expect a pleasant "sure," and "is there anything else we can do for you today?" When I get, "do you have an account with us?" my first question is: "are you saving your quarters for your customers? Is there a quarter shortage? Do you think I'd ever become a patron of a bank that won't exchange paper for coins? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?" and I drive away, most of the time with the quarters.
