The field is well-kept, the games are overseen by the ref, Roger, who is a household name if you're a kickball regular, and you can even buy snacks and drinks at the kiosk they have available there on nights where there are games scheduled. The bathroom is also fairly clean. This sports complex has been a great place to get together for rec nights and I hope that one day, it'll be safe enough for all of us to play together again.

The highlight is each school in the ACC has a full-sized version of its school mascot. A lot of us will never have the opportunity to see "the real thing" up close and personal so this is a great treat for the average fan. Each school also has a small display where some of their sports histories are shown. There is also an interactive trivia quiz - if you win your school's song plays. Small displays show ACC school sports such as men's and women's basketball, football, and other sports. As compared to a typical museum or Hall of Fame there are very few artifacts, and most of them have something to do with ACC Championships. My only "complaint" is once you are in the Greensboro Coliseum complex, there is no signage directing you to the ACC Hall of Champions.

My wife and I recently attended the Journey concert at the stadium and had a great time. Getting in and out of the venue was a breeze, security and ticketing were easy to get through. Where the venue fails is the level to which they take advantage of patrons. With people paying $75 for nose bleed seats, having to also pay $30-$40 for parking is absolute robbery. In addition, concession prices are at an all time high with basic, crappy, watered down beers costing $17. I find it very disappointing they take such advantage of people just looking to have a nice night out. It has certainly been a deterrent in going to other events for me, and I'm sure others as well. They need to do better by their patrons, and stop take advantage of the people keeping their lights on

Both of my older sisters also went to HPC. One of them was a cheerleader and got injured in a fall during a routine at Simeon Stadium here. I remember my parents and I were eating dinner at the buffet at Quincy's on Westchester Drive when it happened. The High Point Athletic Complex consists of the Ed Price Baseball Field (500-650 seats), eight soccer fields (the biggest one with 600 seats), a track and football field (1,500 seats), a multipurpose practice field, and A.J. Simeon Stadium (10,000-15,000 seats). The latter is home to both the Central and crosstown rival T. Wingate Andrews football teams. The City owns and operates the entire complex, except Simeon Stadium, through its Parks & Rec department. Guilford County Schools owns and operates Simeon Stadium so the football stadium is technically not city property. We made headlines my freshman year at Central because the kicker on our football team was female: Snow Brenner. She went on to play soccer for Duke and is now an orthopedic surgeon. Her younger brother, Wich, was my year (class of 2000) and he was the kicker our senior year when we won the North Carolina 2-A state championship. Central went 15-0 that year (1999). Wich went on to kick for Texas Tech. The year prior to winning the state championship, I recall the disappointing playoff loss we suffered at home to eventual champion Shelby. The year we graduated, the team we beat to win the state championship, Southwest Onslow, won the title. During that time, the PA announcer at Simeon Stadium was Larry Craven. I recognized his voice because he was the news director at 1230 AM WMFR (High Point). Simeon Stadium on Friday nights in the fall was the place to be for high school football. I took one of my cousins from California, who was visiting colleges on the East Coast at the time, to a football game here and she loved it. Parents liked to get tipsy in the parking lot/field too. I'm glad I got to experience it and I still like to tell people how my high school won the state championship in football my senior year. As for HPC soccer games, my friends and I had too much fun, especially with the opposing teams; Lexington City Schools being among them. Shenanigans were had and I'll leave it at that. :) Note: Depending on where you look, the seating capacity numbers for the complex's facilities can vary which is why I have some ranges listed above.

We were invited by the in-laws to attend the Fourth of July game, more so for the fireworks than…read moreanything else. Being so hot, we arrived later than normal, caught the last few innings, and stayed for the "big show". Parking was a bit more difficult on this visit, one because we arrived later than normal, but also because people were parked all over the general area, sitting on their hoods, and waiting to was the post fireworks show from outside the park. We eventually found some free on street parking, and just had to walk a couple of blocks. The last few innings went quickly, they had fun events between innings to keep people entertained, and the the Dash and the pepper mascots were roaming around the park to take pictures with guests. All in all, we had a good time. Pricing in the park for food and drink isn't great, but it's not the worst either, but $5 for a small bottle of water seems a bit excessive, especially when it's so hot out, they hold you hostage, I don't agree with that. Fortunately we had eaten before arriving, so we didn't need food, juts overpriced water. The post game fireworks, started up relatively soon after the game. They rolled the "launch" cart onto the field dimmed the lights, and began setting them off. They had a solid 20 minute show with nonstop fireworks. Definitely a good display, but also probably bigger than the normal Friday/Saturday show due to it being the 4th of July. All in all, it was a good time, if you can avoid buying food and drink at the park, you'll save a bunch of money, but I suppose sometimes that's part of the fun.

If you have never seen UNCSA's The Nutcracker then you are missing out. Highly recommend. Of course, it is only during the Christmas season. You can get tickets online and pick your seat from their web site. They do sell snacks and drinks (including wine), at least for The Nutcracker. Also, Nutcracker items are also for sell, They do take plastic. Regarding the Stevens Center. Loved the building. Seating was comfortable. Aisles for the seating are narrow so expect to have to standup to let people by. Two levels, orchestra and balcony levels. I personally have not had a bad seat. Only downside is if you get a big headed giant who sits right in front of you, but this can happen at most venues. So why 4 stars and not 5 for the Stevens Center? 1) The entrance lobby is small. For popular events, it is too small to handle the crowd trying to get in. I will give credit to the staff for efficiently processing the tickets. 2) The orchestra level lobby is also small. Very crowded as everyone is waiting to get in and during intermission. 3) Not enough restrooms to handle capacity crowds. When intermission starts, you better run to the restroom otherwise you can be in a line 20 people deep. Despite the minor downsides, probably due to it being an old historic building, it is a great venue.

Visually, it's beautiful! The art that is scattered around as you walk through the building adds to the museum like atmosphere. The main theatre where the performances take place is gorgeous and feels quite cavernous, however the seating isn't amazing, gorgeous, and it's CERTAINLY NOT cavernous. The seats are crammed together. I didn't measure, so I can't be sure, but I would say they must be significantly closer together, with less legroom than airline seats. Fortunately, the performance was so entertaining, that I was able, to a large extent, to ignore the painful seating.
