This review is long overdue - Ray is a miracle-worker. When I first went to him, I had terrible neck and back pain from too many hours at the keyboard and an aging body. He gave me a wonderful massage, and told me that I should feel better in 24 hours. I was skeptical, but then extremely pleased that he was absolutely right! My work as a musician can leave me prone to certain strains and over-use, and regular visits with Ray have made a huge difference for me. Most soothing and relaxing massage ever. I even got to fly in the clouds. LOL. Last 5 minutes or so was a meditative move in the clouds. The phrase "healing touch" comes into one's mind if I had to describe the experience briefly. Other massage therapist I tried always came across either not enough pressure, or too much pressure -- as if they lacked a natural sense of calibration. Also with many others I never felt comfortable enough to relax. The results I got from other therapists were mixed at best. I decided to schedule a session with Truitt about three or more years ago (I am starting to lose track). From the first session it was a good experience. We started slow, focusing on my weak / problem areas. As time progressed I was able to tolerate deeper tissue massages that benefited me and my efforts at the gym greatly. He is truly a nice guy, very attentive, very perceptive, has a great personality and beyond all of this has a natural sixth sense. If you want to talk to him, he will talk to you and he is smart and witty and always a blast. If you want to do a quiet session, he is silent as the grave and let's you do your cosmic travels during the massage. Truitt is able to deliver just the type of massage you need with little or no prompts. And it's been kind of a journey. It's a matter of trust and being in the comfort zone. There are many things that contribute to this level of comfort and ease I feel while I am at Truitt's studio: The space is beautiful, there's relaxing music playing, everything is spotless and clean yet not clinical -- earth tones dominate the room -- natural light floods in from the windows close to the ceiling. The space is private, cozy and comfortable. Truitt's bedside manners are of course excellent. Always professional, always on time, always providing excellent therapy. Getting massage therapy from Truitt has become a part of my weight training and healthy living regimen. I workout 4-5 times a week so my body often gets very sore. I also work in IT which can put a strain on my shoulders and lower back. I've had professional massages before but not like this. Hands down (pun intended), Truitt Ray has THE softests hands I've ever felt-this is even before he uses his massage oil. I have touble relaxing but once I get on that table I'm in heaven. His hands are intuitive and he just knows where I need attention the most and applying the perfect amount of pressure. He is friendly, polite, and extremely courteous. I always look forward to a session with him, it just makes my whole week. The decoration of his room is magnificent with just the right amount of lighting necessary to give off a relaxing ambiance with an extermely comfortable massage table. I've been on quite a few but I'm tempted to take this table home as my own personal bed because it is that comfortable. The facility is clean and parking is not an issue is a slightest which in Austin is a rare find. I recommend Truitt Ray to my friends and coworkers every chance I get because his hands and personality is the closest thing I can have to an actual angel as a massage therapist. Last weekend I needed a massage badly and Truitt Ray helped me out. It was amazing. The place was welcoming and professional. Truitt's skills were amazing and he released knots that had been plaguing me and inhibiting my ability to strength train. The next day, I was moving like I was 10 years younger! I was in Austin for a business meeting and was suffering some major tightness from my weight lifting regime and was living out of the hotel all week. I booked an appointment and the 90 minutes flew by.. It was so good I had to book a second time. He is strong but very aware of your threshold for pain and sensitivity. I was recently in Austin for a convention and had a free day. Was looking for a good massage and found Truitt's name through this site. I was happy to find he had an opening that afternoon at 2PM. I opted to walk to his office, since I was without a car. This was the only mistake of the experience. Austin in July is HOT! :-) Truitt had a great warmth of personality and was gracious from beginning to end. He gave one of the best massages I've ever had. Complete relaxation from start to finish. He found all my trigger points and helped ease the pain in those areas. A true professional. His kindness was further demonstrated by graciously giving me a life to my hotel to save me the walk back.
