We felt great in that initial meeting and set up a follow up meeting where Kyle was able to explain their philosophy (important), how they make money (also very important) and specifically what services they would be able to provide to us. That second meeting was helpful because after learning about what we were looking for Kyle was able to ask something to the effect of "Are you looking for a guidebook? Or are are you looking for a sherpa?" I am sure those weren't his exact words, but the point was... Quarry Hill really focuses on taking the burden of managing money for folks who either have little interest in doing all the work themselves or just have better things to do with their time; they are really good Sherpas. Turns out, my wife and I both really felt like we wanted to play a more active role in managing our finances, but were mostly looking more for occasional guidance. Kyle was very generous and recommended a specific local advisor who would be more of a fit and cost less. We followed that advice and ended up going with his recommended advisor. I really value the time he spent with us. I really felt like he had our best interest at heart and I would highly recommend meeting with them if you're looking for a full-service advisory.
