It puts many people off of the roads and into large buses which keeps the roads from being too overcrowded and slow. Though it is worth noting to do your homework before you take this shuttle before you catch it to make it a five star experience. I learned the hard way how to take this shuttle but you can avoid my mistakes by following these helpful guidelines. 1. Know what times to avoid. There are certain times that this shuttle is packed and many people have to stand the entire ride because they were not early enough. 7:45am 8:20am and 3:30pm are times that are packed on the weekends and holidays. Show up 20 minutes before the time and you are set typically. 2. Store your gear in the bottom racks if you can. The racks in the back tend to get packed full of people slamming their gear in to make it fit. If you value your possessions, use the racks below the bus. 3. Bring exact cash. They do not take card and do not give out change. Bring the exact amount in cash for both arrival and departure and you will be fine. 4. Relax and enjoy the fact that you do not have to drive on that nightmare of a highway. If you follow these steps, you will be set to have a four to five star experience. This is one of my favorite campgrounds in the Cascade Lakes area. It is pretty far from Bend, but…read moreworth it if you have the time. The campground itself is pretty similar to what you might find at the other Hoodoo ran campgrounds, though it always feels a bit cleaner than the rest. The sites come with running water, shared bathrooms, picnic tables, fire rings, and a parking space. You will want to bring plenty of cash for the fees and if you bring more than one vehicle you will need to pay extra. This campground is right next to the lake and has an awesome trail that runs around the perimeter of the lake. There is a boat ramp at the end of the lake and if you just have paddle boards and kayaks you can just launch them right by your campsite. In addition to the boat ramp, there is a very nice shallow swim area. This has a gradual slope that allows the sun to warm the water up pretty fast. Overall I would say that this campground is slightly nicer than the other campgrounds in the Cascades, but the location is what really pull it up to five stars. When I have the time and money, this is my preferred campground.
