matcha latte

Good matcha but it was too milky. Overall good ambiance. Would come back to try their desserts / parfaits.

Matcha black sesame mousse cake (only 1.5" x 3.5" big for $5.25)
Karmen N.

Parking is hard to find being on the Trans Canada Highway and with no private parking lot. The cakes are delicate, spongy and not sweet, but also TEENY TINY! A single slice is only 3.5" x 1.5" big for $5.25. I also got a hot Kinako Kuromitsu Latte....I don't know why it had Matcha in it when it doesn't have matcha in the name. Unfortunately, the matcha overpowered the flavour of the Kinako, and I don't think the matcha was stirred properly either as it was clumpy on the sides. It's a nice cafe to meet with friends if you want to be bougie, but I personally wouldn't go out of my way to come back again, being inconvenient and pricey.

Shiratama Parfait

Such an aesthetic cafe! We went her after dinner to get some desserts and I ordered their shiratama parfait and it was so yummy! It had matcha jelly at the bottom, topped with matcha ice cream and mochi. I wish they had a bigger size of it but overall it was really tasty!

Cold Houjicha latte, Yuzu O- Matcha

My bf and I ordered the Hojicha latte and Yuzu O- Matcha. Both drinks taste like high quality tea and were really yummy. I can't choose which one I like more. 100% coming back here if I'm ever in Calgary again.

Shaved ice and parfait

I am a sucker for a good matcha-based parfait and Tsujiri never disappoints. My favourite to order here is either the Shiratama or Dessert parfait with matcha or matcha/houjicha blended ice-cream. Another favourite of mine is the O-matcha black sesame latte and the matcha daifuku. The 16th avenue Calgary location is beautifully decorated and feels very warm, calm, and welcoming. The truly best location though is the Edmonton downtown location which has a lot more space for groups. It can get a little pricey but the quality is worth it in my opinion.

I got the soft serve matcha in a cone the yuzu cheesecake, and the matcha dufuku (spelling?). Of the 3 my favorite was the cheesecake. It was perfectly balanced. The soft serve was amazing and was exactly how I expected it to be. The dufuku was good, I just personally didn't like the texture. Restaurant was clean and service was very good.

Matcha roll cake, iced matcha latte, and matcha float with matcha soft ice cream

When I first walked into Tsujiri I noticed that it was such a cute little authentic Japanese style matcha inspired dessert place. The decoration is all about the history of matcha or also known as green tea. The menu is easy to read and easy to order. Once you order, you'll receive your sweets shortly. Staff is very friendly and very helpful to new comers like me :) really enjoyed this spot with my hubby. Cute date place especially for someone with a sweet tooth and a love for matcha !

Village Ice Cream - a scoop of two hills earl grey and salted caramel

Really unique ice cream flavors!…read more I was previously recommended village ice cream as a place to visit while visiting Calgary. They have an always flavors menu and a seasonal menu flavor. I tried their north 49 honeyberry flavor (always flavors) and their matcha lemon cookie flavor (seasonal flavor). I really liked the north 49 honeyberry flavor because of the slight tartness of the ice cream. I also don't like my ice cream too overbearingly sweet so north 49 honeyberry flavor was a good choice for me. The matcha lemon cookie was a solid optional too for a seasonal flavor. I'm a sucker for matcha flavor and the lemon cookie complemented the matcha well. The lemon cookie also added nice contrasts in texture too. The ambiance is nice too, I like the open space and greenery. I feel like the thorough menu description beforehand was a good touch so I felt very confident in what I wanted when ordering since the descriptions for flavors were so detailed. Would recommend trying Village Ice Cream and there are several locations throughout Calgary!

I went in at 7pm, there were still lots of cake selections to choose from. I got a piece of the Napoleon cake. It was not good at all. It didn't taste fresh. The inside was supposed to be flaky and crispy like a waffle. Unfortunately, it didn't taste like that at all.It was mushy and chewy in the center. They added a lot of icing sugar to make it sweet and attempted to make it fancy looking. But that is just add on that I can go to any grocery stores and get and put it on any cake. the top 2 cracker pieces were not crispy at all. It was super chewy like it has absorbed a lot of moister that it is no longer fresh. I am not sure if they made the cake the night before or if it has been sitting for days unsold in the fridge. I have had way better cake before. The piece of cake was not worth $3.99. Note that this place is ran by Chinese and sells Hong Kong style cake. They do not make French pastries or cakes. They are also not a Japanese cake store. I have been to France and Japan and no their cakes don't look even close like their cakes. I will not be back and will not recommend coming here. They do not accept credit cards for purchases under $10. Cash or debit only.

Not sure who's craving dessert at that hour, but clearly there's demand. The interior is cute and nicely decorated, and the menu offers plenty of choices. That said, the options felt pretty standard--mostly crepes or waffles with ice cream and toppings. Nothing really stood out as unique. We ordered the Ferrero crepe with vanilla ice cream. The crepe itself was tasty, but I wish they were a bit more generous with the ice cream and whipped cream since the portions felt small. Overall, it was an okay experience--not bad, but not a must-visit either.

Every time I come, I am consistently seated near the entrance, even though there are many other tables available. I also always order a decaf Americano. On one occasion, despite ordering a decaf Americano, I was served a latte instead and was told that decaf Americano was not available at this café. I have allergies to both milk and caffeine. The drink was only replaced after I clearly explained my allergies to the staff member who was serving me. I was even charged an additional fee for making the drink iced that day. What I found hard to understand was that the same staff member asked me to leave a Google review at the time -- which is why I am writing this review today. This is a menu item I order regularly, which made the situation even more confusing. Overall, the repeated seating choices and lack of attentiveness made me feel uncomfortable and singled out as a customer. I hope the staff can be more considerate and consistent in their service going forward.
