They all send cars, they all get you from A to B and they have all crept their prices slowly up over the years. In my opinion Bristol City Cars has risen above the others. I like the fact that they keep their shop looking nice and colourful. I like having a central office on Gloucester Road I can walk into. They're open 24/7 too and while their prices are admittedly following the current order of taxis nationwide, they do provide a friendly professional service. Which is what you want really, isn't it?

Just a tiny counter, you have to make your way through various loiterers (who will probably turn out to be your driver) to ask for a cab through the bullet proof screen. Wait time varies, but they are normally pretty quick. I have never called for a cab to visit me from these guys, I just use them to get home when I'm in this area, and they are a reasonable price. So you may start seeing them around town. I called them from work a few days ago and they arrived pretty quickly. I had a little chat to the driver and found that the company is co-operatively owned and run by ex crown drivers and employees, it seems like a really good idea and gives them a chance to own a bit of a business. They claim to be a 24 hour service, which I can't verify for sure. They also have the slightly bigger cars for when there's 5 or 6 of you and it seems silly to get 2 smaller taxis. Worth giving them a chance - you can even pre-book a taxi online.

Well, simply, whenever you book a taxi through Streamline Taxi, the friendliest cabbies in Bristol, they'll save your name and phone number to greet you for the next time. And it's likely that there will be a next time once you start using Streamline. They're always on time, call you the minute they're outside wherever they're picking you up (great for not waiting in the cold outside the pub) and will take you the quickest possible route. But my favourite thing about them is how personable all of their drivers are. I had the same driver take me and pick me up from a birthday party, and he remembered what I'd bought them, how old they were and who was going. "Did they like the photo album?" Fantastic! Streamline taxis may not be the cheapest firm in town but they are the most reliable, friendly and convenient.

This can be a little bit scary, but shows their level of efficiency and I have no problem with them doing so. They've been operating in the city since 1937, so clearly know it well. They promise a taxi within 10 minutes of your call, unless at very busy periods, in which case they'll tell you the soonest they can get there. The drivers have always been friendly in an honest way - you can often get those who force conversation in order to to receive a tip, but their drivers don't generally try to do so. All in all a very good firm, and I can recommend the safety and efficiency of their drivers.

He finally turned up a full 30 mins late which cut it fine for her flight. Once at Bristol Airport, she got out and thanked him and rushed for her flight only to realise that he was chasing her! He wanted the fare in cash from her. Refused to listen to her explanation that we had already paid in advance AND he was a half hour late. He tried to take hold of her arm to get her to come back to the car but she rang us. Once we were on the phone, he desisted and went back to his vehicle. This was all witnessed by an older couple who asked our daughter if she was alright. NEVER use this company. A complete shambles and I wouldn't want anyone else's daughter treated this way. No apology from driver for being late.
