A bit intimidating. Walked in for a beginners class and all of the lights were off there didn't seem to be anyone in charge of the 15-20 of us standing in the waiting room. My friend and I left because it was just a weird vibe. I wouldn't know anything about the teachers or the class itself but could see what I can only assume is the advanced class going on (past the start time for our class) through a window in the waiting room. It was wild and unorganized and I continue to be harassed by text messages from them offering this beginners class. I won't give them less than 3 stars because the people inside seemed to enjoy it and I can't give more because I genuinely don't know about the class itself due to disorganized leadership. read more

This is my new pole home! They've changed locations since grant and now have 2 locations, one in Oro Valley and one midtown off of Speedway. After having a really horrible experience at a different pole studio, it was recommended I come here and I LOVE IT. Midtown is my go-to studio and Marta is the absolute best teacher I have ever had! Over the last couple months I've had several friends ask about this place since they see me constantly taking classes and a handful of those friends have also joined since then. Place isn't safe!!!! Weirdos come in because it's in a bad neighborhood (weirdos who aren't even signed up for the class). Ceilings are very low, like 7 feet, so practicing any elaborate moves that require vertical space is out of the question. Half the poles are broken and don't spin. The studio isn't in a safe neighborhood and weirdos pop in and out. I've seen the instructor get grabbed by a guy who wandered in during class. They haven't upped security since this event and I don't even feel safe returning to attend class. We don't have many options on this side of town, so this plave stays open out of necessity. They charge anywhere from $90-$150/month for unlimited packages, which I feel is high for the quality of the facilities. I also feel it's unfair they charge different girls different prices. After I had attended classes for a month or so I talked to girls in the class who signed up less than a few days after me, and their contracts were $10 cheaper a month. Also, I had a friend who had to move to PHX for work. Instead of being understanding and letting her end her contract they were rude and basically told her she still has to pay $100 a month even though she isnt able to use their facilities. This took them from 2 stars to 1 from me. I'm definitely not going to renew my six month contract at Tucson Pole. I'll be trying to find a new place that keeps their clients a priority. At Tucson Pole, once they have you sign the contract they don't care about you. read more

I took the Intro to Pole class last night with two of my friends, and we had a GREAT time. This was all of our first time taking any pole dance class and we plan to return. The place is small and intimate (pun intended), and the instructor was lovely. You know how you can go to some places in town and they ooze with pretentiousness? Not this place. Pick your favorite antonym for pretentious, and that's what it was. The instructor was knowledgeable, I was comfortable, so I'd absolutely recommend it. The Intro class is mandatory to take any of the other classes at the studio, so its essentially an everything-you-need-to-know-to-take-class-here workshop. It's pricier than the other classes ($35), but it makes sense. Their regular classes & class passes seem to be very reasonably priced. Bring sneakers, and socks so you have options (sneakers, socks, or bare feet are all ok). read more

This is in my opinion one of the best ways to work out. Its fun and challenging at the same time, and all the ladies are super motivating. It builds upper arm and core strength like no other and believe me, if you come for just one class, you will notice that almost every muscle in your body will be sore the next day. Most people don't realize this and think you just slink around a pole. Don't get me wrong, they teach you how to be sexy doing it as well, and I think every female should embrace their bodies and be able to feel comfortable and sexy in them. I highly recommend giving this a shot if you're looking for a new workout place or just want to have a fun hobby on the side. You will be hooked! The classes are filled with colorful personalities and women of all sizes and ages, so don't let any of that hold you back! read more

First and foremost: the instructors there were really nice and good at teaching! However, my friend called to schedule a birthday party and on the phone the manager told her that it was $105 for 10 people, nothing more, nothing less. Well our party arrives to the studio and there was an apparent miscommunication in that the owner meant that it was $105 for 10 people as a deposit, with the $105 only covering three people. So essentially everyone pays $35 each, instead of the $10 we had originally planned for. I was pretty bummed that some of my friends (who were really looking forward to it) weren't able to pay that much on the spot and thus could not join the class, and it was a bit of an awkward situation. The part that really pissed me off was that my friend who scheduled the event, talked to the manager, Amanda. Amanda was incredibly rude and would not work with us at all! Even just a small discount, and she would not give us a refund. She basically told us to **** off or everyone pays $35, in a very rude manner. She could have at least been nicer about it... I would give this place zero stars solely based on the owner/manager, however the instructors working there were so nice and really wanted to help us out, those two alone get 5 stars. I am not surprised that all of the people who have reviewed Tucson Pole Fitness have given it a 5 star review. This place is awesome. Pole fitness isn't just a healthy activity, it is an addiction. I think the main reason why I love it is because the teachers are very nice and supportive and care that you get it right (and not hurt yourself while doing this). On the same note, everyone in the classes I've been in have been extremely positive and supportive. It is also just so much fun! I'm generally pretty helpless when it comes to sports and balance, but pole is one thing that I'm finding myself doing well in. If you are nervous about coming, do not worry! I took the leap and tried pole fitness, a friend of mine does it at the other location and loves it so I thought I would give it a try and I was not disappointed!! After the 101 class I signed up! The ladies are so nice and the instructors are very helpful and patient with you. My confidence and physical abilities have improved and I've only been doing this almost a month! This is something I'm excited to do and look forward to going to class!! There haven't been random people walking in the studio since I've started and no the studio doesn't look like the other but it's still nice and you have a good time! read more

I went here with a group of women for a pole party package. The poles were well spaced out and there was enough room for everyone to comfortable practice their new moves. Our teacher was Evelyn (i think that was her name), and she was really fun. For the pkg we learned a routine that was a mix of walking, spinning, dipping, floor tricks and twerking. For those who haven't done it, it is an upper body workout, but she'll give you alternative moves depending on your level of skill (mines being 0). read more

I paid the $35 intro class for Wednesday at 730pm, I had reserved my spot the 4 days in advanced. The lady that answered the phone (who I think is the owner) when I called to sign up didn't sound very helpful so I wasn't sure she took my information right. I called all the Wednesday prior to the class to confirm it was still happening and that I still had a spot on it but they never answered, it was going straight to voice mail. I still showed up at 715 and they told me the class was canceled, they didn't even try to reach out to me, I even check my email and the website and there was nothing saying it had been canceled. I ask the front desk person for a refund and she said the only one that could do that was the owner, she tried calling her but it was going straight to voice mail also. I left very upset, it's not fair people take the time to be at a certain place at a certain time for somebody to just cancel and not even trying to reach out to communicate it. I'm surprise that it was the owners mistake and not one of the employees, that to me is very unprofessional and disappointing. I will probably go back to that place to get my money back and give that lady a piece of my mind. It's not a good looking place at all and it smells like a thrift store, for the price they charge it should look much better, or at least smell better. I also notice that the instructor giving the advanced class wasn't in very good shape (over weight and cellulite) which doesn't give a "fitness studio" a good image. read more

I simply love this place! I started coming to Tucson Pole Fitness two months ago and have been hooked ever since! They have a variety of different classes-Pole Dance, Boot Camp, Spin Clinic, Pole Aerobics and they're adding more all the time! They also have Belly Dance-one of my favorites! These classes get you strong in a short amount of time and are better than doing countless reps and sets at a gym. I've gotten visibly stronger and have lost weight since I've started. For my boyfriend, besides now having a sleeker girlfriend, he also gets to brag that his girl is a (recreational) pole dancer to his friends. I was on vacation here and tried out a private pole lesson at Tucson Pole Fitness and, while there were a couple nice things, I would not go back. Part of this review probably stems from the fact that I am a teacher and know about some motivations to engage learners and part from that I belong to a pole dancing studio in Austin, Texas that I now more than ever appreciate. I'm not a negative nancy, so I'll start by acknowledging the positives since there were certainly some. The price of the private class was $35 cheaper than in Texas, and the instructor went well over time and only stopped because I had to leave. The instructor also made me try the things I was learning equally on both sides so I didn't stick with and develop my strong side only. Finally, the instructor was knowledgeable. The technical needs were there, but this wasn't why I chose to make this appointment. I wanted to really get a workout, walk away feeling I had clearly improved in some way, and more than anything feel successful and motivated to go back. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return. My big thing is to enjoy myself. I am a busy person, so any time I have to choose a hobby/exercise program I want to totally look forward to it. I want to have a part in the direction and feel successful and motivated. Despite it being a private lesson without a designated curriculum and the instructor knowing I was coming in with experience, she did not once ask me to show her what I knew already or what I wanted to work on. We didn't even get to any of the things I wanted to work on in an hour and a half. I know that at my studio we have fast-forwarded it a bit and skipped a lot of the "easy" basics, but that doesn't mean I am handicapped in some way from moving on. Perhaps if I had felt like I was really successful at learning some of the basic spins I would feel more positive about the experience, but we flew through the things. We must have gone through 10 different spins in the 1 1/2 hours and I cannot honestly say I remember more than two or three enough to go home and do them well on my own. I also felt insecure because the instructor consistently laughed at me when I messed up (no, I was not laughing with her) and would start her criticism with "No..." I am used to my instructors saying "Good." and first telling me exactly what I was doing right, and then specifically giving me one thing to work on in the next try. She even made jabs at my home studio by saying things like "I would be embarrassed to tell people I went there!" (commenting on the funny name, which Austinites happen to love) and "Didn't they teach you anything?" Finally, I did not feel like I got a work out, and that is exactly my sole purpose in pole dancing. I joined it for the fitness, and having a week and a half away from the studio on vacation I felt sloppy and needed a good workout. For the first time after a pole dancing workout (and this being a 1-1 as well when I should have felt more of a workout) I wasn't tired or sore or even really sweaty afterward. Again, this was a private class and I have insight into this type of thing from both being a teacher and from already being a member of a pole dancing studio, so perhaps this type of this wouldn't bother someone totally new to it or someone not committing to this activity as a hobby or regular workout program. As a teacher I know the importance of making my students feel successful and each day having them walk away really feeling successful with something new. I didn't feel like that satisfied student, and with pole dancing being a relatively new concept to general society, pole dancing studios need to remember all the things necessary to bring in a hesitant audience and keep them. I am really looking forward to going back home to Austin, Texas and getting back into my classes at Brass Ovaries (like brass balls-power to the chicks! :) ) with my awesome optimistic instructors. read more

I have been going to pole classes at Tucson Pole Fitness since late February of 2013. They're fantastic. I had no experience with pole fitness/dance before starting, but with good instruction and lots of practice time, I've become a total pole addict. Pole fitness is an excellent way to build up tons of strength, it continually presents you with interesting challenges, and most importantly, it's amazingly fun. The instructors at Tucson Pole Fitness are so helpful and friendly, and the other students are as well. I love this place and would highly recommend it. read more

attention brides maids: this is where you want to have your friend's bachelorette party! in order to celebrate our friend's upcoming wedding, we came to Tucson Pole Fitness for a bachelorette party that entailed a lap dance workshop. our instructor Carolyn was AWESOME. In addition to being a great teacher, she was an excellent host. She really made everyone feel comfortable enough to let loose, and created a total party ambiance. She suggested drink breaks, took pictures, offered shoes/clothing items to practice with, and really kept the energy up! Also, she taught us a killer routine, and was great at explaining the moves, and providing feedback/extra help. At the end we all got a list of the moves to help us remember, and a CD to seduce our men to. We all had a BLAST, and it was waaaay worth $35/each. What really impressed me, was that I forgot my camera there, called right when I realized (about 30 minutes after the party ended) to ask about it, and my call went to the owner who was out of town. Instead of just telling me to try there tomorrow, she called our instructor verified that it was in a safe place, and then called me right back! To me, that shows that she really cares about customer satisfaction! I recommend this to anyone looking to have a great time and to have a super memorable bachelorette party, where you can learn something you'll actually use! read more

i would not go here. i went for a few classes and while SOME of the instructors were great, the owner was really rude to me and my friends. we had a hard time getting our class scheduled over the phone, there was a lot of confusion, and when i called to clarify i was given this litany of excuses and a 20minute long diatribe about how busy she is. i understand that she's busy and there's a lot going on, but as a fellow business owner, that's what being a business owner is about. as a customer, that's not something i want to hear. what it really came down to was her lack of organization. then when we finally got the class straightened out, she really pressured us into signing up for a 2month membership ($60/month). she just wouldn't take no for an answer, and not in a good way. so my friends and i really felt bullied into signing up, then after our two months was up, we called to cancel our memberships (the owner insisted on automatic bill pay instead of letting us do month to month) we got harassed about why we were leaving and how is she supposed to make money if we don't go. i felt really uncomfortable talking to her. it shouldn't matter what my reasons are for wanting to cancel a membership, no one should be interrogated like we were when we wanted to cancel. i definitely won't be going back and will not suggest this place to friends. which is a true travesty as some of the instructors were really great and the whole concept is brilliant. but i just can't ethically support a business owner and establishment who is so rude and unprofessional. read more
