They offered to refund but since they did the work we don't feel right taking the refund. We just would have appreciated being asked for approval to do the work in the first place. We asked Rays and Sons to come out for an estimate. They came out. Said they'd be back in a week. In that time we NEVER got an estimate so we thought they were coming back to look into it further/troubleshoot a problem and then give an estimate. Nope. They came back out (again, never gave an estimate), did some minor work that looked more like troubleshooting to find out what the work was going to be and then give an estimate. Instead we were hit with a $400 bill for barely any work! Absolutely ridiculous. No way in hell we will ever use them again. This is the second time we've called them for something. The first time seemed pricey but it was work we needed done immediately and didn't have time to look around for a better option. Listen to me when I say take the time and find someone else!

Already a bit behind the power curve (inexperienced) on these matters, I focused on the big advertisers that made lots of claims about fast responses and guarantees. This was my first mistake. companies who chose to have large advertising budgets usually have high prices and hidden fees, and this is ultimately passed on to the consumer. anyway, Edison informed me that there would be a $95 service call fee just to show up. I agreed thinking that at the very least this bought me an estimate but I was wrong, it bought me nothing. the electrician showed up at the end of a 2 hr. window. I explained to him that power is traced up to the Main breaker, the breaker is tripped and will not reset and is probably the problem. he agreed and writes up an estimate of $895 to replace it! Now folks, I wasn't born yesterday. it's a 20 minute job (by his own admission) and a $46 part. I asked him to justify that quote and he responded that these charges are predetermined by the company. I paid him his $95 show up fee and sent him on his way. He would not even acknowledge that the estimate was a diagnosis of the problem.I would have had to pay him more for a diagnosis, so what was I getting for the $95? - a guy to show up? In the end I got a guy to come out for free and he did the repair for $120. the part would have cost another $46 but he was willing to use a spare Breaker (new) I had.
