Normally, when I make a purchase at this store I walk out pretty satisfied. Because they're a closeout retailer, you never know what new stock they're going to get and you get the same items that would normally cost more at regular retail or import stores.
My mom and I are regulars here. Unfortunately I've noticed that Patrick, who's either a manager or some other in charge person, seems to have something against certain people. I don't know whether it's socio-economic or just looks, but it's something that takes away from an otherwise enjoyable shopping experience. At first I thought he was just grumpy, but I've now noticed it's always the out-of-town white snowbirds whom he's nicer to. Today I walked in and got the cold shoulder from him, but the lady who walked in right after me got totally different treatment. What was worse was at checkout, when I was the only person there for a good few minutes and at the only working register, I was made to get behind someone else who arrived and lined up after me. When an older couple got in line behind me (again, I was already at the register), they were told to go to my register to get ringed up and that I would be ringed up after them. It was awkward for me, the other customers, and the cashier. It wasn't right on so many levels that it's turned me off shopping at this branch. I'd rather go to the Tuesday Morning a little farther up and get better treatment. I walked out with three bags today, but it felt like it came with a slap in the face.
Note, this is just about one staff member, though. Because usually I get the blonde lady with the glasses, who is inexplicably helpful and nice. Depending on what you buy she actually bothers explaining to you when and how things can be returned. She's always pleasant and polite. But I don't want to be a regular at a place where my money helps pay the wages of this kind of manager. read more
