Hanging at the picnic table reading newspaper there's a little playground area for the kids to play, the wooded paths are nice to walk on over the water. The park might look small but it's really not. Lots of walking and can spend a good 4 to 5 hours hear.

One main loop trail that is an easy hike through the woods and along the creek. My brother and I would spend hours there when we were young exploring the woods and wandering up the old railroad bridge. I come back often to remember those days, while I don't traverse up to the bridge a quiet walk along the creek is more my speed nowadays. A perfect place for contemplation and nature, a local gem. Plenty of paved, unpaved, gravel and dirt trails that offer easy hikes throughout the park. Pavilions, picnic areas, playground equipment, a volley ball pit and pool all scattered about the 300+ acres of parkland. It does get crowded on the weekends in summer but weekdays you can catch a nice walk in with relatively minimal human interaction. NSP is well maintained and has plenty of facilities. Perfect for a quiet weekday walk or a day at the park with the family. For me, it reminds me of a younger time when my work ethic was formed and my love of nature began.

There's a ton of amenities; two dog parks, a skate park, a hockey rink and basketball courts. There's a ton of picnic space available as well. On a sunny day it's really pleasant to come here, and you might even see some interesting wildlife. I saw a water snake swimming around and a ton of cool looking birds. It's nice.

It was still very early in the season so the trees have not come into their full foliage, but a lot of lovely little spring flowers were popping up along the edges of the trails, the weather was warm. The wind was lovely and the sun was shining. The trails are in desperate need of repair. I am not one for actual built, walking paths through an alleged "Woods" A better name would have been 5 Mile Park. This place very much gave me the vibe of the song Big Yellow Taxi "they took all the trees and put em in a tree museum" the feel of the place was anything, but "woodsy" the entire area was built up with wooden planks and boardwalk style walking trails rather than what one would typically experience in the "Woods". Also, they do not allow dogs. Remember people we can't have dogs running about in the woods. (How absurd) we did encounter some wildlife, several skittering squirrels, and a lovely black snake met us as we crossed the bridge of the stream, I guess he too, was looking for his natural habitat. As the days begin to get longer, the temperatures start to rise and my yearning to be in the outdoors strengthens as these next few months unfold; I will be out and about walking trails and appreciating nature, but I don't think 5 Mile Woods will be where I will be doing it.
