    One of the very first beautiful days of spring we decided to check out the 5 Mile Woods in Yardley…read more The main trail was blocked off and closed, but it appeared that the other trails still accessible. It was still very early in the season so the trees have not come into their full foliage, but a lot of lovely little spring flowers were popping up along the edges of the trails, the weather was warm. The wind was lovely and the sun was shining. The trails are in desperate need of repair. I am not one for actual built, walking paths through an alleged "Woods" A better name would have been 5 Mile Park. This place very much gave me the vibe of the song Big Yellow Taxi "they took all the trees and put em in a tree museum" the feel of the place was anything, but "woodsy" the entire area was built up with wooden planks and boardwalk style walking trails rather than what one would typically experience in the "Woods". Also, they do not allow dogs. Remember people we can't have dogs running about in the woods. (How absurd) we did encounter some wildlife, several skittering squirrels, and a lovely black snake met us as we crossed the bridge of the stream, I guess he too, was looking for his natural habitat. As the days begin to get longer, the temperatures start to rise and my yearning to be in the outdoors strengthens as these next few months unfold; I will be out and about walking trails and appreciating nature, but I don't think 5 Mile Woods will be where I will be doing it.
