To be honest there is too much to see in just one visit. And the Planetarium definitely need to spend all day just for it or coming back everyday for a week. The cost is well worth the visit. Astronomica in the Planetarium of the "space" museum is the biggest case of FALSE advertising I have ever had the misfortune of falling prey to in my life. I was more educated watching Fantasia. This had ZERO educational value. What was even attempted at being astronomical or scientific was not even factual. Save your money and buy a kaleidoscope. I'm not sure I went to the same museum as the other reviewers did or the other reviewers haven't been to a good air and space museum but the TASM was completely underwhelming and overpriced compared to other similar museums I've been to. While they do offer some mid range simulators, many of the displays weren't working or were off (space simulators and astronaut gloves). I also would have loved to see a true flight simulator in there, especially on the American Airlines aircraft. The aircraft appears to be in some sort of renovation and there isn't a ton of info on the display. Would be really neat to have replica cockpits of the jet with simulators as well. Much of the "more exciting" aircraft were look only or do not enter displays. I think it's a good museum for those with no real exposure to aircraft or a beginner museum but feel this museum could have so much more potential. read more

I was apart of a Large High school group who took a trip to The museum. We were all racially profile, because a student in an another group lost their phone. She says that she would like for us to leave as we were already doing! The planetarium has horrible seats for anyone with neck issues! The seats only recline about 15° while the show is on the ceiling! You literally have to crane your neck looking up for the entire show or you miss it! Even my friends without neck issues had a hard time looking up the entire time! Definitely not worth the money I spent on the Beautifica show! Those seats should recline all the way back to put the neck in a natural position to see the show!!! read more

Such a neat experience, I was like a kid in a candy shop! So much to, not only see, but to experience. While in Tulsa for work I brought my family for a small vacation when I wasn't in meetings. It wasn't easy keeping two adult children entertained each day but we tried this place due to the fact that the two guys love planes and such. We weren't quite sure what to expect. Everyone loved it! The price was incredible too. We saw the planetarium and the museum for the price of one. Planetarium was just ok. Kids had never been to one so it was a first experience. They weren't awed by it but enjoyed it. There is a gentleman that works there that was a plethora of information not found with the displays! Kids and husband were like kids again on a playground! Lots of stuff to do that's "interactive". Went beyond expectations! We had fun!! read more

You better call ahead to see if they are open. Before I Ubered over I checked the website to verify hours. I walked in and it was kind of strange. It looked closed. I double checked the doors and I was there during operating hours and nothing indicated it was closed. I walked around the museum but it was hard to see the exhibits as they were all pushed together. I finally found someone who said it was closed for an event. She didn't know why nothing said it was closed. As I waited in the rain for my Uber, two other groups came to see the museum. One even bought their tickets online. Poor dad had to explain to their child why they couldn't see airplanes. I had really looked forward to seeing their planes and I wasted $30 on Uber there and back. read more

These folks have a very nice collection, including a Top Gun style F-14 and lots of Apollo missions NASA stuff. There were not many people there when we visited because of everything going on. They were doing everything they could to make sure they kept everyone safe. The only thing perhaps a bit lacking for us was personality amongst the docents.... most times we find folks who are overjoyed to talk about the collections they have. We visited the Tulsa Air and Space Museum earlier this wk and Wow! It's a great experience for the whole family! The museum provides aeronautical history along with vintage aircraft, interactive simulators, and memorabilia. They even have an F14 Tomcat which is the airplane flown in the movie Top Gun! They did a wonderful job paying homage to the great men & women in the field of aviation - those who created the technology, those who became pilots & astronauts, and those who serviced the aircrafts! The 19,000 sqft facility was immaculate and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Due to our time restraint, we spent approx. an hour at the museum and didn't have time to tour the planetarium. TASM might not be the slickest museum in Tulsa but it might contain the most history. Where else can you see the art deco facade to the old Tulsa Municipal Airport and read about when it was little more than a tar paper shack? Where else can you listen to interviews from Pearl Harbor survivors? Where else can you see the history of Tulsamerican, the B-24 that was the last one built at the Tulsa Douglas plant? Where else can you see an actual B-17, the Madras Maiden? That's what brought us to TASM today, to see this flying fortress in all it's glory. (The B-17 was only traveling through and is not a permanent exhibit.) The staff (with a lot of volunteers) is always pleasant and helpful. If you haven't been, put this on your Tulsa bucket list. read more

Me, my daughter and her friends went to this museum the other day on a Groupon I had purchased. I found the museum interesting. Just enough stuff to see, read and do without getting tired or bored. There were a few things the girls were able to do such as launch a space shuttle replica and fly a jet simulator. They also have an upstairs and a downstairs part. Upstairs is a small loft like area that has a library of books you can read at the tables up there and an area for kids to play in. The museum has plenty of aircraft to look at from different time periods and even one you can sit in, though very small....watch your head! We were fortunate to have a gentleman from the museum walk us through to the different areas and give us information on everything, which was very helpful! There is a large airplane outside that you can tour as well but I believe they have certain times you can go in. There is a short informative movie you get to watch inside and it's interesting to see how much things have changed since then. If you have plans to go the planetarium, just a word of advice, they are very prompt on their start time! Get there about 5-10 minutes before your show. They adhere to start times and the doors will be locked at the start time and you will have to catch the next show. There are a few things to see in the planetarium waiting area to bide your time until your movie starts so you should be ok and they have bathrooms. The seats in the middle of the planetarium are the best to get. We watched the show about the earth, sun and moon. It was informative and it had enough stuff to keep the youngest entertained through out. The main museum does have a very small gift shop inside if you want to purchase anything though I really didn't see anything that was interesting enough to get. I think for Tulsa, this is a nice place for a day trip for the family to do. read more

I grew up on military posts so museums dedicated to military history of any kind are not terribly exciting to me anymore. However, I brought my son here on a rainy morning and he was enthralled! Gabe loved the children's corner on the second floor. There is Lego table and an old plane dashboard that kept his attention for almost two hours. That's quite exceptional for a four year old! The planetarium was a great family activity as well. We watched a show about the solar system that was just the right length of 30 minutes. I was busy at work up in Delaware, and looking forward to my time off for Christmas vacation to see my parents at their new house in Tulsa. My father and I attended this museum together. We got more than our money's worth with all the aircraft on display. Mr. Larry Brueger especially made the exhibit come alive while he toured us around the insides of an American Airlines passenger plane and related it to his experiences in Vietnam. Mr. Virgil also had plenty of rich stories to tell from his experiences in the Navy as he individually guided my father and I around this institute. Was a very unique experience being there. Lot's of details and interesting artifacts to gaze upon. Would be great to take kids to see the air crafts and upstairs is some fun games for them to play with. It's not big but is well worth the few bucks to go see when you are wanting something to do and not wanting to spend lots of money doing it. Took my wheelchair bound adult son today - our 2nd time in the last 6 months. Why go back? Because last time we went the elevator to the airliner outside didn't work - stairs were in place, but the elevator was out. Guess what - 6 months later, the elevator to the airliner was still out. The volunteer at the booth said the 'idiot' who had the idea of an elevator put an indoor elevator outside in the elements...He said "they" need to weatherproof the elevator and fix it, but he said "they" weren't planning on fixing it. I don't know who "they" is, but I was developing a lingering resentment for "they". And lots of little things - video of the Space Shuttle on a flat screen TV, but the volunteer said even though the video has audio, "they" didn't set it up with speakers for the display - Now I really didn't like "they". Several stairs to the cockpits of planes, like to the F-14 and others, but no ramp..."they" had no plans for ramps. Argh I sure wanted to get ahold of "they" at this point. You get the idea - for a plane buff it's good little local effort of a mix of Tulsa aeronautical history, national history, and so on. The ceiling has suspended balloons, a helicopter, biplane, other planes. Both times I've been there nearly everyone vacated the place at the top of the hour to walk next door to the Planetarium show - I haven't been to that so can't review in this space. A good though expensive way to spend an hour. The gift shop has a variety of airplane related toys and a few other general toys; prices are about 2x-3x Walmart for the same type of toys, but it is for the Museum which is a local effort, not governmental. It isn't Dayton and Wright-Patterson museum, and it isn't the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum...it's just Tulsa, small museum but good effort. Having said that - with things like non-working elevator to the airliner out front, no audio on the Space Shuttle video, various other items of disrepair on displays, it seems to be aging like an old person who can't afford to go to the doctor so various ailments build up and build up. They got our $17 for the 2 of us today for the entry fee, and my $35 for the purchase of 3 small toy airplanes for my son, but if we ever return it would be just for the Planetarium. Not aging well, no interest in fixing things...just limping along as is...sad. read more

I was really glad we came with a Groupon because it's a little expensive for the size & scope, in my opinion. A nice museum with lots of history and a good variety of exhibits. Everything is well labeled. I paid for the planetarium show but wasn't able to take it in due to (my own) time constraints, I may return sometime to do that, even though it was included in our Groupon price. The large airplane out front looks impressive and I cannot even imagine how totally upset and disappointed any young children would be on hearing that it's only open at specific days & times for tours! As an adult woman who has been on plenty of "real planes", even I was a little disappointed, so I can only imagine the grief parents of young ones get over this. I really waffled between three and four stars because it is a really nice museum if somewhat small. I think "A-ok" is my honest rating, though. read more

I had NO idea this place existed, and I was a science teacher! Fell in love with the exhibits and shows!

The museum appears small, but actually has quite a bit packed inside! The highlight for all of us was when a volunteer named Guy took us outside and showed us the aircrafts. My kids LOVED going inside the old AA plane. Guy was very friendly and helpful. read more

This was my second time coming to this museum but I definitely had an amazing second experience because nearly every staff member was helpful and quick to drop a conversation with their coworker to answer my questions. Also it was very cool that the staff was extremely knowledgeable. This may not be the largest museum but definitely worth a see. read more

Great little museum at Tulsa Int'l Airport. A lot of history on aviation during WWII along with background history on significant contributions to aviation in Tulsa over the years. There is a children's area & library upstairs. The museum also has a few interactive exhibits which would be a fun learning experience for adults & kids alike. read more

We attended the Aviators Ball fundraiser last night. I am very impressed with how this place has evolved. Very impressive museum and displays. Great view of the runways and the airport. This girl loves to watch planes take off and land. Last night's event was very fun with good food and even better company. (We were guests of Board member Nick Verdea and his lovely wife Tina). I am excited to see what this organization will be doing to promote aviation to the next generation. read more

They do have great history to see, it feels great inside, they were very nice at the reception counter and didn't force us to wear a mask so that was a huge plus. Very small. Travelled from OKC to see this. Clean, a few interactive things for kids that my USAF buddy and I enjoyed. Took a nice nap during the circa '83 movie played in the dome. Best part about these places are the veterans/volunteers. They always have great knowledge and experiences to share.
