My parents had their cabinets, mantle, and all of their doors and baseboards refinished hoping to update their home. What they got was some sort of stain/paint splattered, pooled, and streaked all over their previously perfect custom cabinets, doors and baseboards. Not only did the job look horrible, but the finish is flaking off everywhere (and begun almost immediately). My parents have been overly patient while letting Gleam Guard have someone come in and try to "fix it" to having their own professional come and deem that the damage was irreversible and the cabinets either needed to be replaced or refaced. The doors and baseboards will all need to be removed and sanded down and refinished. They paid Gleam Guards $5,962 to ruin their cabinets and the estimate to fix the entirety of what they ruined is almost $30k. This happened last April 2012 and when a complaint to the BBB was made my parents even allowed Gleam Guard time to come and fix it. They sanded and stained two cabinets and stated that the work was too extensive to complete. SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF HEADACHE AND STEER CLEAR OF THESE SCAM ARTISTS. The bottom line is that there is no new technology with wood and finishing wood. You have to sand and stain or chemically strip you cannot just "create" new technology by staining or painting over stain. I have contacted 2News Problem Solvers about this as well. I feel so sorry for my parents.

They repaired a German Shepherd damaged front door on both the inside and outside surfaces, re-stained the entire door and stained two second story shutters. They completed the work in the dark by using extra lighting. I had had misgivings about that but the job was completed beautifully. The final, impressive thing was that both of them said to call them before we sell our home in April if the dog had caused further damage. They would touch it up without charge! That never happens in my world so I was completely shocked and impressed.

First they sprayed the entire windows with a brown "paint" then it started raining and they left. Took them 2 months to finish and had all the windows covered with the brown paint. What ever the paint was, was supposed to let the peal off that that after they sprayed on the actual paint and it doesn't completely come off. That I guess was a lazy way to keep from tapeing around the panes. They did NO prep work for missing glazing or wood rot or pealing paint. Unfortunately, none of our expectations in these four areas were met. Lots of details, but to summarize- project timeline not met, cleanliness of project not as promised, communication/follow-up was poor. The worst part was when these concerns were communicated to the project manager nothing was resolved to our satisfaction. Each issue that we communicated was met with a weak response (excuse), and no additional solution or correction was proposed. Would not recommend.
