When our items were picked up we saw the furniture handled with great care. I did have a concern because reading the itemized receipt of items taken revealed that not all our items were listed. I immediately called to clear this up and was assured that when the truck arrived back a full inventory would be made as it was unloaded. This was in September 2023. Thru a series of emails requesting info on the sale of our items, I was informed of delays due to numerous reasons: illness, a "rushed medical" auction, a family death. All these were relayed as reasons why our things were not fully processed. I did follow Southside's Facebook page and did see the majority of our items pictured in the auction offerings for a few weeks after our things were taken. I went to pick up a check in October I think, but saw a lamp of ours still on the display floor and was told that some items were not sold yet but auctions would continue until all our items cleared. I did continue to send emails asking about 6-7 specific items remaining. I was asked for my phone number so either David or Dan could call me. I sent my phone number, but never received a call. Finally, in December I learned we had our last check ready and went to pick it up. As it was being handed to me I asked about the few items still unaccounted for. BIG MISTAKE! What followed were loud, with expletives, accusations about me. Apparently I was obnoxious with queries about our goods, a troublemaker and a bully. I am a 5 ft tall woman and this barrage towards me came from a man nearly the size of a mountain. I was shocked to say the very least. I was yelled at for thinking they can keep an account of every item that they auction. I was told one specific item I asked about "sold for $10 and was worth nothing and meant nothing". I replied that when the family member is trying to pay for nursing home care every dollar helps. I was told many of our items were gathered and sold in a "lot" of items and told I was ridiculous to expect they could account for every item "sold in a lot". (When our items were picked up it was mentioned that some framed art would likely be sold "in a lot"...but never did he say we would not receive the money from those items.) As the yelling from the mountain man continued he finally swore at me and said he was done with me and called over the "owner" to "handle" me. This man came asking about the ruckus and I was introduced as "the biggest troublemaker". I still said my own name and thanked him for coming over and calmly said we were just trying to pick up our current check and find out when the rest of our things might be completed. I mentioned the lamp I had seen still on the floor when getting our first check, to which the mountain man again exploding about "how many lamps they auction and what made me think that was mine?!" Then, I mentioned a very distinctive antique desk which mountain man denied but the second man said , "oh is that yours?" Yes. He said someone tried to lowball them on it but he refused to sell it so low. I said, every dollar helps our family member and was told it would be sold soon. I left with the check picked up that day. I've never heard back from Southside again about the desk or any other items. My advice if you use Southside to sell your items is to not get caught up in the flurry of activity where he walks thru choosing what he will take to auction, without making your own list of ALL your items. And, do take pics of all your items. I sent the list of missing items, I sent pictures. My BEST advice however is to choose a different company. I've heard for decades about the great bargains for buyers attending their auctions. But, from our vantage point they dropped a huge ball on their follow-through on the consignors end of the auction experience.

I have been attending auctions at Southside for over 15 years. I have bought upholstered chairs,…read morerugs, appliances, candelabras and many other miscellaneous items. I have always been satisfied with the quality and price of purchased items. Everyone working there has always been honest, knowledgeable and respectful, and at times the auctioneer has been downright hilarious. Attending auctions is not for everyone. You must pay attention as items are being sold and understand a bit of the terminology used.
