The school is a very safe and nurturing place with talented staff (after-school program is one of the best I've seen) and rich traditions. By the way, their celebrations are simply amazing! When he was about to turn three this past September, he moved into the 3, 4 and 5 year old class. That is when they noticed he had a hard time sitting still and focusing. He was about to age out of EI (Early Intervention) and start CPSE (Committee on Preschool Education), which would mean the therapists that were approved (Speech, SEIT and OT) could work with him in his classroom environment. However, MCR does NOT allow ANY therapists in this school to work with children who have been approved to receive it. So, we were left with no other choice, and had to scramble to find a new school in the middle of October of 2018. Not an easy task considering that most were already full by that point. Luckily we found a school that my son adores. It is a play based, loving and nurturing environment, that is so in tune with nature and outdoor play. I guess everything happens for a reason, and we were very fortunate to end up where we are now. MCR does wonderful things with the students, my son learned a lot in his time there. Their holiday show and graduation are amazing as well, along with their camp. That said, Montessori is not for every child, especially a child that requires therapy of any sort. What bothered me about our experience is how they didn't give me any feedback of his behavior in the baby class (NK) prior to moving up. We did have parent teacher conferences twice in the school year, but they never spoke about how he was disruptive, couldn't focus or sit still. Had I known this was going to be an issue, we could have looked for other schools before he started in the toddler class. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, as we felt forced out of there in a way. In closing, I debated on whether or not to write a review about my experience with this school. However, I recently learned the same thing is happening with another child there, so I wanted to give other parents a heads up before you consider going to this school.

Members come from all over Fairfield county and beyond - I'm lucky it is in my town. Teaching pottery is difficult because everyone progresses differently and the instructors here do an amazing job or balancing the individual handholding and maintaining order of the class. While I work on my pieces, I get to observe some of the instructors whether they teach a group class or a private tutoring class. To share a few shoutouts: Safiya is fantastic with teens in boot camps - (I just learned that she is starting to teach Friday evening classes!) Julie also is a caring and competent teacher. Cass is an outstanding instructor with a wealth of knowledge; and Kate is such a sweetie, too! All Everyone is here because we love the joy of creativity and respect each other's artistic abilities. I enjoy conversations that accompany creating art across diverse age/gender/backgrounds here. There's something for everyone. Decided to give this studio a chance as they claim to be the best in town for ballet and dance…read more Teachers are VERY young and green and were late to teach class a few times during the brief semester we were there. The Acro class is literally girls doing forward rolls, ridiculous! In addition, the studio director is extremely disorganized and lacks communication with parents. There are constant hidden fees for everything. For example: there is a registration fee every semester, not for the year as other studios do... mandatory leotards are to be ordered and worn to class, $30 each. They arrived when the season was OVER...4 months to receive them, unacceptable. Additionally, from the moment you open the downstairs door to enter the studio, the stench is overwhelming. The bathrooms are ALWAYS filthy, floors are clearly never cleaned or moped whether it be in the studio or waiting room. There are NO DOORKNOBS OR HANDLES to open the doors to the studio dance rooms, a child's hand is caught almost every single time I am there. Their excuse is the doors are old and they have not been able to find a doorknob that fits It's a miracle no one has shut this place down. There are tons of other dance schools for your child to go to, that follow the ABT curriculum, have experienced teachers that show up on time and a director who cares and takes pride in their facilities presentation and cleanliness and teachings. Do your research and take a tour in person before joining this sub par at best dance school. Very disappointing!
