The administration is very disorganized, and anytime there was an issue I was given excuses with absolutely no accountability from the staff. The center is a year old and aesthetically looks nice, with many rooms children are scheduled to travel to and learn in. My two year old was in one small room all day, with no windows, and never traveled to any of the other rooms. I was told there was a specific curriculum they'd be following, but every picture I was sent was of children dancing, building blocks, or watching an iPad. I addressed this and was told they had a no screen policy, yet they continued sending me pictures of my son watching a small iPad with the other kids. There were at least three occasions (in only three weeks) where I went to pick up my two year old at 3:30 and his diaper hadn't been changed since we dropped him off at 7am. He got horrible diaper rashes, and this behavior is absolutely neglectful. My infant was supposed to be in the infant room, but because of low enrollment and staff shortage was grouped with toddlers who were much older, walking and running around the room. She came home with marker all over her hands one day, and when I called and asked about it I was told that it was developmentally appropriate to give a six month old markers. The last straw was when she came home with a quarter-sized hole in her shirt that looked like it had been cut with scissors, and an abrasion/cut on her tongue. Not one staff member had any idea what had happened to my infant. I took her to the doctor and they told me it was consistent with a fall, and I should have had an incident report and that the cut was very concerning for a six month old baby. I was refused a refund of my $1,000 deposit because I didn't give them SIXTY day notice of termination of my children attending. Which was impossible for me to do based on the circumstances and multiple incidents stated above. I was asked continuously on my exit interview to give Growing Minds more time and things would get better. If you read all of this and you're a parent, you know there is absolutely no time to give when your children are being openly neglected. If you're thinking about sending your child here, DO NOT. This daycare should be shut down.

Having only had my children in the care of a nanny up until their placement at APLH, I was concerned about the 1:1 attention and their individual needs being met in a group setting and my expectations were exceeded infinitely. I could truly go on and on about our experience there but the directors are incredible--efficient, thoughtful, and loving to say the least. The staff is so warm and welcoming and made the transition seamless for my family. The facility is immaculate and full to the brim of engaging activities and developmentally appropriate toys. I loved receiving updates on their day, having the opportunity to celebrate holidays with APLH, and the ease of messaging back and forth with the teachers whenever I needed to. We joined care.com and were matched up with Katia Barker at Edgewood Academy. After receiving a tour and staying a few hours at Edgewood, my daughter and I didn't want to leave! Edgewood ensures your child understands the importance of nature as the kids are outside (weather-permitting) as much as possible; we've also found this decreases the amount of times our daughter has been sick which is obviously a huge plus! My daughter and I are greeted with a warm smile every morning and she is always eager to unpack her bag, grab a book or a toy and wait for her friends to arrive. When I pick my daughter up at night, I am debriefed in person (highlights of the day) and made aware of anything we're running out of. My daughter gives giant hugs to her teachers before we leave and more often than not she wants to stay and play the night away. Joining Edgewood Academy was by far the best decision we've ever made. We have a second daughter on the way in March and couldn't be more confident in Edgewood's ability to care for our children. I'll give the same advice I received when we phoned a parent of an Edgewood student for a reference prior to enrolling...if you're lucky enough to get a spot at Edgewood, just do it!

She takes drowning prevention and water safety incredibly seriously for my infant daughter, as well as for all the other children in the class, including those with special needs. Despite the serious focus on safety, she manages to make every lesson genuinely fun and engaging. We love her approach and will absolutely be going back.

It is a phenomenal school with loving and nurturing teachers. Our son was in the Terrific Tots, 2's, 3's and 4's program. These programs fully prepared him for Kindergarten. I visited the YMCA today because I called and was asking about getting a 50m swim test done here…read more We were told to come in and make an appointment. Patrick, who works at the front desk, was extremely helpful and spent a good amount of time getting us to where we needed to go for a swim test. We were there to make an appointment but he called up Henk to ask if he could help us with this process. Henk was so friendly and helpful as well. Instead of making an appointment for another day, they asked if we had our swim clothes with us (thank goodness I prepared myself just in case) and had us do the swim test right then and there. Henk emailed us the letter with his signature a few hours after we completed the test. We were not charged anything for using the facilities and getting a test done. This was by far the best experience and the staff were so accommodating to us. I've been calling and emailing the Stamford YMCA for the same test and it was not as consistent as Darien (it took two weeks, two calls, and numerous emails to get help from them). Darien was extremely helpful and we are so appreciative of the staff there! Patrick is new to the YMCA but he was amazing. We greatly appreciate his help in contacting Henk for us. Henk's last day is Thursday so we came at the best time. He was incredibly friendly and excited for us as to why we needed this swim test. The facilities were amazing and the decor was beautiful. This was probably the nicest YMCA I've ever been to. Thank you Darien YMCA!! You really helped us with this!!

I didn't know where to begin when my original "first choice" daycare told me I was still on their…read morewait list after 10 months, and my spot on the list hadn't budged. I did a few more tours of local facilities, and then a friend and colleague who used to work at Kaleidoscope recommended that I check it out. I'm so glad that I did, and almost embarrassed that it wasn't my first choice all along. The team at the school is great, the building is secure, and the teachers are transparent, kind, and truly care for each and every child. I find that whenever I pick up my kid, I learn something new from the teachers. Whenever I have a moment where I feel overwhelmed, confused, or lost with my child, the teachers in his classroom are able to offer great guidance based on their many years of experience both at the daycare, and with their own kids. While the building itself may not jump out at you because it's tucked away in the Caremount campus, don't let that derail you. Stop in and see for yourself. You won't regret it.
