I recently moved to LA and often travel with my work. I hired T&P to feed my 2 elderly cats. One cat is diabetic and T&P had no problem with her medication and insulin shots. I have been using Tumble n' Play Pet Services for a couple of months now. Michael comes over 3-4 days a week while I am at work to look after my beloved dog, a 10-year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (who is basically my child!) and I am thrilled by how well it has all worked out! I only met Michael once before I hired him, and I knew I could trust him immediately - not just because he is clearly excellent with animals, but because he is the sort of person you can feel comfortable having in your own home when you're not there. He is warm, kind and charming. He is also flexible about last minute plans or changes, and highly reliable. Above all, he is very grateful and considerate, which are rare qualities to find in people. My neighbors tell me how much my dog enjoys Michael's visits, when they see them playing fetch on the front lawn. Michael often gives my dog extra time without charging me for it, and he goes above and beyond to ensure that my dog is OK, like going out to buy rice and cottage cheese for his upset stomach. He sends me photos and updates after every visit, which is a wonderful feeling, to know that he genuinely cares about my dog! When I went away for a couple days and used his overnight boarding services, I just knew my dog was going to be looked after extremely well and that I had no need to worry. What can I say about Michael...he's become a trusted member of our family as he has taken care of our fur babies for the last four years. I'm compelled to write this review given the recent loss of my beloved Lila after 13 years of loyal companionship. Lila loved Michael and he loved her. Michael went above and beyond my expectations when it came time to put her down. She became ill within a very short period of time. Unfortunately I had to check her into the hospital for a blood transfusion while I went away on a business trip. During my trip, Michael called to check on her status regularly and even offered to visit her in the hospital. Once I brought her home from the hospital with hopeful optimism, Michael called and asked to see her. My heart was warmed by his overall love and compassion for my baby. The next day Lila's condition worsened and it became clear that she was going to pass. Michael called first thing and asked to come over for a visit. He came by with a special pet bed for Lila, gave her so much love by way of kisses, and offered his emotional support. I sent him away still in disbelief that she would be transitioning soon. A few hours later, he texted again and this time I did ask him to take me to the hospital as Lila was suffering. He rushed over, carried her and helped me into his car carefully and rushed us to the VCA. I don't remember much but recall Michael handled everything for me once we arrived. He called my husband to inform him of the change in circumstances who was busy working on Mother's Day. Michael filled out forms on my behalf. He sat with me until my husband arrived and waited while we helped Lila transition with the excellent care of the vets at VCA. My heart still aches but Michael has been there for me. He continues to share stories about how special she was to him and those memories keep her close too my heart. Thank you Michael. You truly have a special way with dogs. Michael's Tumble n' Play pet service is, in a word, AWESOME. This is like a luxury bed and breakfast inn for dogs: personalized, professional, and homey. As the business owner and sole pet caretaker Michael is friendly, respectful, and accommodating. Not only that, but his rates are super affordable. I'm definitely going to use his services again! I boarded my dog with Michael for Mother's Day weekend and from beginning to end my experience was great; Michael went above and beyond every step of the way: 1. First of all, I had last minute plans and had to find someone to take care of my dog on very short notice. I started calling dog sitters the morning of my flight, and Michael was the most prompt to call me back and accommodate me; by noon I was dropping off my pit bull puppy at his home on the Westside. He was a lifesaver. 2. Immediately Michael was warm and welcoming to me and my dog. He took charge of the leash and we went for a brief walk down the block as a way of introduction to my dog, to get a bond going, and for him to get a sense of my pet's temperament. He even picked up after my dog even though I was still there with my own doggie bags. 3. Even though I was in a hurry to make it to the airport, Michael made sure to take time to ask important questions about my dog's care, and was very attentive to learn what my routine, rules, and boundaries are with my dog so that he would be able to recreate the same environment while I was away. Even though Michael has over 20 years experience working with animals and must surely have his own way of doing things, he clearly respects first and foremost the owner's wishes for how to care for the pet. 4. Michael then gave me a brief tour of his cozy family home which he shares with his wife, which has a special room dedicated for a dog to sleep over. He let my dog explore all the rooms and made him feel at home and at ease. Michael's home is very clean, not fussy yet perfectly dog-proof, so it doesn't feel like a kennel at all. He also has a nice, large enclosed patio for your dog to play while at home. Basically imagine leaving your dog at a family friend's house. In fact Michaels says he sees himself as a trusted next door neighbor to his clients. I really like that approach, and even though I live all the way on the Eastside he still was able to accommodate me. 5. Since his regular service is dog walking, there are plenty of opportunities to allow your dog to socialize with others. To me this is a plus so I volunteered that I would be happy for my dog to meet other clients; It was clear to me that, again very respectfully, Michael had no intention of sharing walking/play time with other dogs and that by default my dog would be taken care of individually. (I just thought it was a bonus to have my puppy play with other dogs, but I could see how some owners might not want that...suffice it to say Michael is able to do either). 6. He provided a hard copy of all his references and terms of service up front and made sure I had his contact information before I left. 7. While I was away, Michael regularly updated me with cell phone pics and texts of my dog. This was my first time leaving my dog with someone else and it really gave me peace of mind to know my puppy was doing ok. Plus, Michael was available the whole weekend to communicate with me if I had any more info to give him, or any questions. 8. I mentioned to Michael my dog had some problems with loose stools, and he offered to feed my dog a bit of rice and cottage cheese to help with digestion. It appeared to work, and I still use that tip for my dog whenever he's irregular. 9. Not only was my trip last minute to begin with, my flight ended up being delayed on the way back, and I ended up not being able to pick up my dog until late Sunday night. I was in contact with Michael the whole time and he told me to take my time, drive safely, and to feel free to come by as late as I needed to pick up my dog. This was even after his official business hours had ended for the day, but he didn't charge extra and was not upset or seem put out at all. 10. During my trip Michael incorporated my dog into his everyday routine at home and I got pics of him chilling in front of the TV, sleeping on the bed and playing ball. I could tell my dog really benefitted from this time in a safe, stable, and happy environment because, as a recently adopted shelter dog he still had a little bit of separation anxiety , but after I came to pick him up Sunday night he was totally calm, happy, and at ease...even when I had to leave the car at the pump to go pay the cashier. (Usually he would start whining when I begin to walk away). IN SUM: Michael's Tumble N Play pet service is affordable, accommodating, personalized, caring, respectful, responsible, and communicative. Michael is absolutely wonderful! He takes excellent care of my dog and treats her like a princess. She has so much fun with him and runs over excitedly to greet him whenever we see him. Michael has done everything for my dog from the occasional day or night time walk to full daycare and overnight stays. He is incredibly accommodating and books services well in advance, but also happily accommodates last minute requests.
