Through working with her the past year, I was able to get off medication and live life through food medicine. She was extremely rude and repeatedly cut me off while I was trying to explain the reason for my call. I mentioned that I had been a previous patient of an APRN who worked there years ago. Before I could continue, she abruptly cut me off to say, "We don't do prescriptions here." I replied that I wasn't calling about prescriptions, but she still insisted, in a dismissive tone, "Well, I'm just letting you know because the APRN was able to do that." I repeated that prescriptions were not why I was calling. I explained that I was looking for a PCP with a holistic approach and wanted to know whether my insurance would be compatible, attempted to explain about my insurance. Again, she cut me off, saying, "We're not a PCP and don't sign off on anything for insurance." Once more, this was not what I was asking. I finally had to say, "If you let me explain, I'd appreciate it." But at that point, I told her that if this was the experience I was receiving over the phone, I would take my family and myself elsewhere. This was honestly shocking. I'm sure many of the other employees are wonderful, and I was looking forward to the possibility of becoming a patient again. However, this interaction alone completely changed my mind. Because of her behavior, I will absolutely be looking elsewhere for care.

I filled out their questionnaire, then went to the appointment. Well the doc is trying to sell me everything under the sun. Then he finally does the acupuncture. I had soft tissue damage in my upper back from a car injury. So he decides to put the needles in my chest. Nerves have long pathways so I figured I'd give it a shot this way. Not only did it do nothing, but unlike my previous doctor, who I've gone back to, and will actually pay the extra money, the needles sites hurt the next day. Then I keep waiting for a statement to pay my $25 co-pay. A year later I get a bill for $290.They are claiming that's the fee for a new patient visit. When you go to a doctor for a physical for the first time do you pay a first time fee? Of course not. Now my insurance company is equally to blame as they said this was not in network when they sent me an email that it was. I told them this office is defrauding them because the acupuncture is a separate additional $95 charge, of which I should owe the $25. Well they "as a courtesy" paid it. Still leaving me to pay $25 over a year, and half after the "treatment." Bottom line is this group doesn't listen to its patients, overcharges, and tries to sell you on stuff you don't want.

As such he does not accept health insurance and his office visits can be rather expensive when one has to pay out of pocket for the entire visit. He does spend a good amount of time listening to his clients, as compared to traditional medical doctors. Since he cannot prescribe medication, he will sell you his own private label vitamins and supplements as well as a "healthy" diet. Because he cannot prescribe FDA approved medicines, my results are mixed using supplements and diet. Overall I feel better, but the specific issue I went to him for remains unresolved. I have reccomend others to him.

She took me into her office first, and went through all of my active diagnoses and medications... then took me across the hall to the exam room and did a full assessment. I needed to make a follow up appointment per her request for something she was concerned about. She gave me some papers I'd need from her to have a few things done like blood work, and I was on my way!! The appointment took about an hour and I sincerely feel positive! Both her and her…read morehusband (Richard Monticciolo, MD) run an internal medicine practice where one on one patient care is not seen as an inconvenience but as an integral part of their treatment philosophy. Prior to initiating treatment with Dr. Monticciolo, I was treated with several physicians through Hartford Medical Group. However, I was finding it increasingly hard to get an appointment, and once I did I found that I spent longer in the waiting room than actually having a consult with my physician. Many times I was not even seen by an M.D. but his or her PA. Regardless of who saw me, half the appointment was spent reviewing my medical history before getting to why I was actually there. I felt that I was a co-pay and not a patient and upon that realization I knew it was time for a change. Since I have begun to see Dr. Monticciolo, I have ALWAYS been treated by her. The practice is small (just her and her husband) and there is not a lot of frills to their office. You will not find your medical records stored electronically or fancy diagnostic tools, but what you will find is a doctor that knows her patients, is willing to talk (yes - talk) with them in her office before the examination, and refer you to another physician if she feels it is necessary. My medical records may be handwritten but I know that they have all been meticulously written by Dr. Monticciolo who - from the routine wellness visit to more serious matters - will give me sound medical advice and excellent patient care.
