Most folk by now, will realise this about me... I like curries and burgers!…read more This is a local restaurant to me & as an out of city place, it really does well against them in the food quality department & interior ambience. Is it my most favourite first go to place? Not exactly - The Den is my most favourite place in the world, but sometimes I don't want to drive a 15 miles round trip for a curry! Having this place within a mile is a god send & I know it's fresh, cooked with care & the service is warm and friendly. This is a place where everyone is a regular & knows everyone. That in part is what makes this a great place. You don't have a raft of passers by, so in order to keep regulars you can't disappoint them with sub standard food. (You won't get the generic 'tomato' base for every single dish here!) We show our faces around 2-3 times a month here & have done for nearly 4 years now. As long as this place is still around and we live here, it will be the same for the next 4 years. They have recently opened a huge hall on the back, so larger parties and events are also catered for. Great amenities for something local! You Gotta Eat Here - For Sure!! :-D

After starters it was another hour to be presented with (after much complaining) cold curries which had a thick skin on top. At this point, I told them to take the curries away, I didn't want any of their food and that we would not be paying for any food. The manageress apologised and said 3 staff members phoned in sick. Okay this happens, but when you have bookings and food not going out, put a hold on take aways, I counted 42 going out whilst we were waiting for our food. Our free drinks took 20 mins and then only half the order appeared. Eventually the owner turned up at the restaurant and we could see the manageress giving him the details of what happened. Two days later, we are still awaiting an apology. We were part of a larger group and this ruined my friend's 40th birthday. Don't waste, your time, money or taste buds.

I love this Indian restaurant. 'tis one of my faves…read more If you like Indian food, a lot of it and you like a bargain then this is the place my friend. Been coming here for about 6 or so years now and it's the sign of a good restaurant that you make sure you go a little further than you would normally like to travel to go for a meal - this restaurant is in Auchinairn/Bishopbriggs so not exactly handy for me to get to (I don't drive). We always go for the Set Menu which either 2 or more people can have and it's a set price (yes, the price you see is what you pay for EVERYONE, that's not a 'per person' price which is what we thought when we first went!) and a total bargain ~ I can't remember exactly the prices but put it this way I have never paid more than about £16 (give or take) for full 4 course meal with alcoholic drinks. This is almost unheard of in other Indian restaurants. So when we seen the prices we thought 'hang on...this means it'll either be poor quality or poor portions' Nope. Not at all. They do one of my favourite Chicken Tikkas ever. The chicken is just gorgeous. We always alter the Set Menu a bit too ~ change the plain nan for a garlic one or fried to boiled rice, etc... this is never a problem and the staff are always more than happy to change anything on the menu to your liking. The waiting staff are always friendly, if a little busy/overworked looking, but as I said they're always willing to make the experience and meal exactly how you like it. Sometimes we've had to wait a wee while for a table (even when we've booked a table) but this is because this place is so darn popular ~ some nights it's just a steady and constant flow of hungry buddies coming in and rolling out again, bellies full. This, I would say is a good sign. The take-away side of the restaurant always seems busy too and I've heard it's very good also. Another nice wee 'extra' thing is they give you complimentary poppadoms and spiced onions & Bombay mix not long after you sit down ~ never a bad thing. Another thing I love about DD is the fact when myself and my friends go we like to make a night of it ~ so we have a lot of food, quite a lot of drinks (not too many, hic!) and we like to stay a loooong time. In fact 9 times out of 10 we're usually the last ones left in the restaurant, much to our embarrassment. But never once are we asked to leave or even hinted at/glared at to leave. This I like. Nowt worse than finishing your meal only to be glowered at by huffy waiting staff until you ask for the bill. Let me RELAX after my meal you beasts! *sigh* If I lived closer to this place I would fo' sure be here more often and I'd get plenty o'take-aways, I'd be the SIZE of the Delhi Darbar but damn I'd be happy!

Being a regular in the local pub 'Carriages', anyone will know the story of Bubbles and Raul who own the pub, the restaurant and the indian take away. The indian has always been of good quality (slightly expensive but that is expected of Lenzie). However their Italian restaurant was always empty and food was average. Therefore I was surprised at how well and busy their indian restaurant was when it opened. It won an award by the Scottish Curry Awards I decided it was time to try it! The restaurant is nice from the outside and in. It has a deli attached which isn't very indian but it is a nice touch. The place was very busy on a Friday night so I would advise booking. The staff were friendly and attentive. It isn't authentic looking inside but its modern and a nice warm place to be on a cold night! We ordered the chicken pakora to start which was good, however I didn't find anything that made it stand out compared to other chicken pakora I have eaten. I ordered the king prawn tandoor which was tasty. However it was a bit expensive at £16.95. Luckily you get rice included with this dish but the sauce you get with it is not nice with rice so the rice has to be eaten plain. I asked if I could have a mini naan instead of the rice so I could dip it in the sauce, but they were going to charge me more. (even though rice and mini naan was the same price on the sides menu?!) So I ordered a big naan on the side and gave my rice to my boyfriend as he order the chicken tikka korma. Rice is not included with curries so that's another expense. The naan was good and not greasy. My boyfriend enjoyed his curry. My mum got a chicken tikka masala which she felt was a bit bland and my dad got the special lamb curry which he loved. Again the curries were quite pricey when they don't include rice. We never ordered dessert but if I go again I will definitely try their chocolate samosa..nutella filled pastry! Sounds great! However I think I will stick to their take away..food is the same quality but much cheaper!
