There are two sets of trails (Mouse Branch/Thompson Loop or Right Loop/Left Loop) and they vary by day which set is for bikes and which for horses, which is detailed on their site (but I have also copied that info at the end of my review. All the trails are one-way, dedicated trails so you can get some good speed too! Mouse Branch/Thompson Loop: I LOVE the flow of this trail. There are no drastic up hills or downhills. Pretty much anyone can traverse these trails. I am a solid intermediate but suck on ascending, but I do not have to get off my bike anywhere on this trail. It opens up to some GORGEOUS views of Fontana Lake. Be warned that you will need to wear your sunscreen on this side because it lacks a good tree canopy, unlike the other set of trails. Right Loop/Left Loop: These are the more challenging and longer trails. I did have to get off my bike and push a couple of times. There is more tree canopy on this side (thus more shade, which I love). It also has great views of the lake in spots. If I had my choice, I would choose a day when Mouse Branch/Thompson Loop is open for mountain biking for a more fun, easier, flowy trail. For more of a challenge, choose a Right Loop/Left Loop day. **Bring a few bucks cash. There is a daily use fee on an honor system (but it supports the trails so don't be cheap!!). You go to the little board at the end and fill out an envelope, which you put in a box. You can also kayak and camp nearby! :) *************************************************** Info from their site: The Tsali (pronounced "SAH-lee") Recreation Area's four-loop trail system has become a popular destination for mountain bikers and horseback riders. It is best known as a challenging mountain bike course. The Right Loop, rated moderately difficult, offers 13.9 miles of single track, with shorter 4- and 8-mile loops possible. The Left Loop, rated moderately difficult, is 11.9 miles of single track with views toward the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Fontana Lake. The Mouse Branch Trail, rated moderately difficult, is 8.7 miles of single track and includes old logging roads. The Thompson Loop, rated moderately difficult, is 7.3 miles of single track. Hikers may travel the trails on any day, but mountain bikers and equestrians-the primary users-are kept separated by alternating days on the trails. Be sure to follow the trail schedule: Jan./Feb./March/April/June/Sept./Nov./Dec. I will start this off by saying that I grew up in Swain County and was a multiple repeat customer…read moreprior to this. I rented a deck boat from Almond Boat & RV Park for $450 plus fuel. While the boat ran adequately, it was obvious that maintenance and cleanliness were not priorities from the time I cranked the boat. The only gauge that functioned properly was the tachometer. The other gauges either didn't work entirely or only worked part of the time. Considering the price of the rental, I expected all of the boat's instruments to be operational. On top of that, the boat wasn't very clean when I received it. There was black, dried algae underneath the front seat cushions, which clearly indicated the boat hadn't been cleaned in the time leading up to my renting it. If they are going to charge premium rental rates, customers should receive a clean, well-maintained, fully functional boat. At the end of the day, my group had tracked a small amount of dirt into the boat. I rinsed out almost all of it before returning the boat, leaving only a little dirt on the floor. When I pulled in, Jim was already on the boat with a 5-gallon bucket ready to rinse out the boat, indicating he could clean it with that. However, Logan insisted it would require an hour with a pressure washer and charged me an additional $50 cleaning fee. Given that the area in question is only about 4 ft wide (at most) and the boat is maybe 19 ft long, a 1 hour estimate seems to be either a gross overestimation or simply intentionally dishonest to make me concede to the cleaning fee (you decide). After paying over $500 for 8 hours of rental, I find it unreasonable and dishonest to nickel-and-dime customers over a small amount of dirt that is completely predictable when people spend the day at a lake. It's even harder to accept when I know that the boat wasn't clean to begin with. The boat served its purpose, but between the poorly maintained gauges, the questionable initial cleanliness, and the unnecessary cleaning charge, I won't be renting here again. Logan clearly doesn't care about repeat business, and if this is how they treat a local, repeat customer, I can only imagine how they'll treat everyone else. I will now look to the many other marinas on Fontana Lake to give my business to. I suggest you do the same.

The price of the reservations to do water rafting is extremely affordable for the fun experience…read moreyou get. We had a blast. The staff are amazing! The customer care was just that...caring! We had someone who last minute could not come and we planned on just eating the cost of their reservation as it was considered a same day cancel, we had no expectations at all. As we checked in, without a prompt to credit us, the check-in lady said "well we don't usually do refunds for same day cancels but how abt I apply that reservation fee towards a picture package and water shoe rentals?" We were pleasantly shocked! That was above and beyond customer care and I have worked in the customer service industry for years! The reservations included your PFDs and a warm water shirt if you chose to wear one. The training was informative and light hearted. No scare tactics just some good ole jokes and fun while learning to stay safe out on the water. Our tour guide, James, was funny, full of fun facts, and knew how to keep us safe but laughing the entire trip down the river. If you're on the fence about taking this adventure...don't be! NOC has got you covered!

Me and my riding buddy camped here 2 nights while on a motorcycle ride in Nantahala. It is only 7-8…read moremiles from US-19/74, and there is a nicely stocked convenience store about 5 miles away on US28. It is a dry county, so bring your own booze! We took the area in the back where we were the only ones...it is tucked away from the semi-permanent RVs in the front, and has its own toilet. There are some fire pits and we made a fire every evening and again when we woke up. Nice to sit by the fire and warm ourselves given the 45F lows when we were there. Overall a nice campground, with a friendly and helpful owner. He brought us firewood, and even some ice from his home. The bath house was easily the cleanest I have seen anywhere! I will stay here again!

He had a portable hot tub, dog gates, clothes lines and other items strewn over the site. He acted surprised we were there but said he would gather his stuff and get out. I called the number provided in the email sent to us from the owner to see if he could give us another site but there was no response. I left a message. We waited two hours for the man to get his stuff packed up but he was in no hurry so I again called the owner and left a message but no response. Fortunately I was able to find another campground that had availability so we left. The following day I emailed the owner of Nantahala RV Resort and still have not received a response. This outfit literally stole 210.00 of my money. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. I would give it a minus 10 if I could. There is no office on site and no person to talk to. Please think twice before booking here.
