The rest area plaza
Boon C.

Turkey Lake Plaza may be the best service plaza in Florida Turnpike system. It has car service station with gas. The plaza is at the middle of two bound of highway, it is interchangeable for north and south bound traffic. The restaurant choices are more in this area. Mostly fast food. You can get your sun pass detection transponder here. You know the headquarter of the Florida Turnpike is also located here. It has outside and inside seating if you decide to eat here. The bathroom is just average. It can be cleaner or nicer.

6 super chargers here.

6 super chargers here. Clean restrooms and plenty of food kiosks. Clean and secure. 24 hour services in the middle of the Florida Turnpike.

The workers were extremely rude and callous. Canoe Creek is soooo much better! We were not impressed with the service at Canoe Creek.

Nothing good here. No Starbucks. No Earl of Sandwich like other Service Plazas. The "shop" is pathetic. Rest rooms are the only good things.

This is the ideal rest area on the FL Turnpike!…read more The older bldg. could not be renovated so they torn it down and built a new & improved one about 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Gone are the days of gas gouging on the Turnpike. The price here at the Shell is right on point and the pump area is as clean as can be. There's even an attendant cleaning the pumps and refilling the supplies on a regular basis. Of special note is that the air and water for your tires are FREE! Attached to the Shell is a Nathan's Famous Coney Island restaurant. The rest area itself is separate and is immaculate. There is always someone cleaning the rest rooms and flowers abound. The eating area is kid friending as there is not only smaller tables for the children to eat at, but there is a separate outside dining & play area. You'll find Wendy's, Dunkin and many other food selections.

We went to the Villa thing across the way and got food off of their buffet. It was by the pound pricing and for the cost, I would have rather just had a Snickers and a bottle of water. I know that it was late, but this was really pathetic for offerings. The forks at the stand were empty and a worker lady was just standing in the way. I nicely asked "May I have a fork...?" and she rudely handed me one, like she had to do some work or something and I interrupted her. Over all the restroom was clean, so I guess that's a good thing.

This review is going to sound a little bit like a novel…read more It all started when I booked the hotel. It was very easy, there were many options, and around ten different websites that give you different prices. I found the cheapest one at around $96/night for this hotel on Priceline. Great service and easy booking process. They allow for late check-in, late check-out they are very accommodating and easy to work with. Now comes the actual stay. When driving to this hotel we noticed a building with a lot of barbed wire. Apparently it's right next to a jail. This was a tiny bit of a red flag, but we assume the price of the hotel is so reduced because of this reason. Check-In Process: The check-in process is VERY easy. I had absolutely no problems. The women gave me a map on how to get to our room and where to park. She gave me a free parking pass. We had no issues getting to our room and no issues parking. You're allowed to check-in late if you give the hotel a call letting them know the time of your arrival. At this point for us it was midnight. Room Accomodations: When entering the room, the look is actually very cute. It looks like a dorm I stayed in college. I brought Lysol wipes and cleaned everything off before unpacking because I'm OCD. We were three people staying in a small room with two queen beds so we were dealing with that. I took a shower and the shower was fine, they provided soap and enough towels. Honestly didn't have a problem with the room. (Sorry for the pictures, I was only able to take pictures of the beds after our stay, the beds DID NOT look like that when we entered.) I am the worst sleeper when it comes to sounds and for some reason the location of this hotel since it's very close to the highway, there is a lot of noise. Ambulances, Police, Garbage Trucks, all very very noisy. My Oura ring said I only slept 2 hours and 30 mins, but all was ok because we were going to DISNEY the next day. Long story short, but our Disney tickets were INVALID and we weren't able to go to the park that day. It was 8:30 AM and we had our hotel booked for two nights. Because of this incident, I called the hotel and they let us cancel our second night and get a refund!! BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE! Normally, hotels would NOT let you do this without consequences, but Rose at the front desk was an absolute angel! Giving this hotel 4-stars all because of Rose!

While the outside looks typical motel from decades ago, management does try to freshen and brighten things up with splashes of color, in the elevator, lobby, rooms and more. We walked by some rooms and can see new mattresses in them still in their delivery bags. The rooms look bright, there are two curtains, one is a totally opaque black-out screen for privacy and sun shade. The beds are comfortable. There are microwave, iron board, coffee machine and fridge inside the room. There's even a charging pad on the lamp. However, updates seem to stop at the washroom area. the counter and sink do look old. In our first room the toilet was releasing water nonstop so we had to exchange for another room. In the second, the toilet still made occasional gurgling but at least not enough to interrupt our sleep. The a/c is definitely on the loud side. The breakfast selection is not bad, with hot items, cereal, bread, yogurt, fruits and more. Location wise, it's a bit off the theme parks and other tourist destination, but it's right off the highway (though the rooms are facing either the parking lot or pool so they are quiet enough), so it's an easy hop onto I4 to go to wherever you want. The price is not bad for the quality, especially as you don't have to pay for parking and resort fee like properties closer to the parks. But if you prefer to be more in the center of things, with easier access to restaurants and shops, then this is not for you. The only thing it's really close to is the correction center.

This is a nice place to attend a conference…read more My husband attended a conference at the Hilton Orlando, and the kids and I decided to join him for the weekend. There were enough amenities to keep the kids entertained, and it was centrally located enough to be able to go elsewhere when they were bored of the hotel. We had connecting rooms. Very convenient to have two rooms when dealing with kids' bedtimes and also everyone trying to get ready for dinner at the same time! The rooms were fine, standard Hilton set up. The beds were comfortable, the pillows were nice. The bathrooms had a single sink. Shower water pressure was not great. I did not love the smell of the Crabtree & Evelyn products. The pools are lovely, very relaxing, although probably not enough to keep kids older than mine entertained for very long. There's a lazy river, which is nice, and there's a waterslide. But they lack the huge wow factor, like the Omni's wave pool or the Marriot World Center's true waterpark. There's a decent poolside bar with covered seating, and there is poolside service, although we did not partake. There seemed to be ample lounge chairs by the pool, and we were always able to find a place to stash our towels, unlike other resorts. There's also a tennis court. It is hidden in the far corner of the resort. My daughter and I went to hit balls for a bit in the Florida humidity. I think it's mostly used for pickle ball, and probably mostly in the winter time. There's a basketball court and an area set up for volleyball. I saw people using all those amenities, which was nice to see. I did not see an arcade, but I didn't mind that. We didn't try any of the sit down restaurants. I would go to the 24 hour market for coffee and pastries for breakfast, and we spent the other meals off site. The coffee and pastries were fine, but expect a line and a wait. Parking is either valet or self-park. There are a couple EV chargers in the farthest corner of the lowest level of the garage.

I do regret not booking weeks in advance as I did plan this ahead but I was unsure how it'd go and actually booked the day of (4/4/26). Only because the day pass was $35 weeks in advance for the day but the day of I paid $49 + of course the taxes etc. It ended up being $119 for my son and I plus Ubers but I think it was worth it for the 6 hours we were there. It's about 15-20 mins from MCO which is where our cruise shuttle left us off. We had the loaded nachos and chicken quesadilla (forgot to get photos) to split at the restaurant by the pool. We also had mango cheesecake and ice cream cookie sandwiches. I enjoyed their adult capri sun (I call them) while soaking in the hot tub. I didn't think their food fees were all that bad (as I expected resort type prices) and it's worth it to note they do include the tip in your bill. We had such a lovely day there and all staff were nice. The hot tub and lazy river (must have went around 10-12 times) were our favorites. They hold your luggage, so glad for. My only negative to report is the lack of chairs, we got there fairly early 11am and already there were no chairs. What is bothersome is most people weren't even using them. Perhaps they could use a locker system rather than ppl using chairs for their items as I would have loved to lay out. We walked around 4-5x before finding one chair to share.

Nice and firm for a get night rest or a nap after being at the pool side for a few hours. Walk in closet big bathroom ,living room was cool as well. Me and my wife enjoyed the bowling alley. We had a lot of fun. Don't forget about the shops with all your favorite carton characters t shirts hats slippers you name it Star Wars, the minions the Simpsons fun for kids all ages. We also enjoyed the cabana cafeteria . I had a spicy chicken sandwich with fries my wife had chicken teriyaki lomein full of nice pieces of chicken ,Which she enjoyed .I also had some chicken tenders and fries from the cafeteria on our stay. We also ordered food from door dash while we were in the main lobby. We ordered shake shack which was cheaper ordering from door dash then buying food on the resort, smash burgers well done with cheese fries, for a little vacation cheat because I'm on a diet. By the way the order came really fast. Don The pool was great especially at night the view was amazing. With the lights shining on the pool and the really nice fire pit they had so you can even roast some marshmallows by it. Also the pool features a water slide for kids and adults. The blow up rafts were $9to17. You also could bring your own as well. You also had an ice machine with cold water free. Plus you had the soft drinks and soda all you can drink for $30 . That was the drink packed. Cabana bay resort also had a restaurant right next the pool outside. Where they had some really good chicken quesadillas with fries. My wife enjoyed that. . I went with the chicken wrap with lettuce and some veggies, It was great to eat pool side with the beach chairs equipped with the big umbrella for shade . Then you also had the lazy river at the resort. That featured a bigger water slide and pool . Bigger than the pool outside the main lobby. The staff was courteous and friendly the stay was fun. When we switched rooms it ended up being super filthy. The beds felt like bricks. I jumped on the bed and almost broke my tailbone. The sleep number doesn't work so you cant even control the softness. I had to sleep on this brick of a mattress for 7 nights. I couldn't get another hotel because half of my money was tied into this. Luckily when I booked in July for November I got the rate of $47 a night. Parking was horrible at night. I pretty much had to park at Joe's Crab shack. There were service elevators that we could have taken ... too bad the doors to get there were closed and locked! After 4 days of staying the elevators went out, so we had to walk up 7 flights of stairs (I'm out of shape so I had to take many breaks every other floor). After the first day of no elevators, I asked for a discount or some type of compensation, we were told to check-out or go to another hotel. I called Orbitz and complained Orbitz then called Allure and Allure stated that the elevators were only down for 4 hours and not 4 days (LIE) and refused to give any money back... luckily Orbitz gave me a credit for another booking ($100). On the 5th day the power went out. The hotel was running on a generator. TV's weren't working even when the power came back on. Telephones didn't work at all. Some outlets worked and some didn't. Also, the vending machine on the 7th floor said $2.85, I paid, the machine took my money and gave me no drink. I talked to the front desk and they only gave me back $2.00 because the drinks are only "$2.00". . But NEVER BOOK HERE!. I also sent emails out to Allure and called and got no response back.
