They charged $75 to inspect it and told me it would be $560 to repair it for (parts and labor) as they said BOTH the latch and actuator were broken. It sounded like too much so I had them put it back together so I could ask for a second opinion. They put the original parts back together and it works flawlessly. Nothing was broken, the wiring must have been loose and they were trying to shake me down for an extra $500 bucks. There's more shadiness to the story but this is the jist. I wouldn't trust these guys if I were you.

Worst of all... they totally destroyed my timing belt cover. I brought it in there cause the shop is supposed to be able to service older foreign vehicles. They broke 4 bolts on the timing cover and broke off all the plastic bolt tabs that hold it on. When I asked them about the damage they said it was all there before I brought it in. I know FOR A FACT it was in one piece before they got their destroying hands on it. When I called the owner out on it.. first he said thats the way it was.. When I said he was lying he then told me it was an old car and stuff like that breaks... Well then why the heck didnt you tell me about it and replace it. instead they cobbled it together with a bunch of washers and rigged it to stay in place. The brand new thousand dollar timing belt is now completely exposed in two spots. They werent even going to tell me about this stuff and let me drive away. When I said I would have bought a new cover if they had told me...he got real snooty with me and said they dont have time to leave my car up on the stand waiting for parts. I came in 2 hours after they started the work and asked if they thought I needed any more parts.. The answer was no.. everything is fine. Mind you the timing cover was off already but he never showed it to me. I wonder why... hmmm...... And they had the car there 2 days. After calling AAA who outsource to a towing company (my 2015 Caravan does not have a spare, just a temporary repair kit) that was too busy to tow me, my Daughter-in-law from Mequon arrived. She removed the tire and we drove around the north side of Appleton, and stopped at 4 different places---no one had the time to fix my tire. Rays Tires is across the street from Fleet Farm so we walked in and the guys took care of us!!! Service beyond expectations!!! Chivalry is not dead. Two examples of "major issue becomes minor" lead to the 5 star rating. 1. We received 2 quotes for a major amount of engine work and then break work from an official dealership location within eyeshot/walking distance after routine checkups. Ray's Tire provided a 2nd opinion helping us understand what was truly occurring, what was required and other options. $4k in savings between dealership and reality. 18 months later the vehicle in question is running fine despite "impending doom" from said dealership. 2. Our van developed a horrible squealing sound, trouble breaking, turning and driving..nearly overnight. A hickory nut had lodged between parts of the break assembly. Rays removed the offending tree nut and didn't exaggerate any cost at all. Many places...without names...in Appleton..would charge steeply for the simply action taken, and quote 1-2k in unneeded charges just for your trouble. Ray's Tire is truthful, accurate, provides value and quality work.

Automotive Specialists: "You're gonna have to bring it in for us to give you a quote" I bring in my car, thinking it was going to be a 5 minute thing - throw it on the lift see how bad the struts are. They say "well let you know" Take a whole 34 hours to get my "quote" They tell me a dozen other things "wrong" with the car, then give me a "quote" of $3250. Mark up the price of parts by about 3x. I say NO, then they tell me that the inspection will cost $150 AT NO POINT DID THEY COMMUNICATE THEY WERE DOING AN INSPECTION AND IT WOULD COST ME AN ENTIRE DAY OF PAY AVOID THESE SCAMMERS Not to mention they're literally giving gift cards away if you give them good reviews.

Worst experience ever! Zero communication! The service I…read morerequested was to have the battery replaced and oil changed in my 2005 Honda Civic. It took 3 hours and cost me $428.00. My appointment was for 1pm. My car wasn't moved from where I parked it until 1:25. I thought once they had my car in the garage and had a look at it that they would come out to the waiting room to give me my options. Instead, they installed a $254 battery; they thought this was ok for a 20yo car. There was no communication with me regarding anything until 2:45 when Brian came to the waiting room to inform me of $2000 worth of work that my car needed, which included $761 for 2 rear struts. I never asked for a full car inspection. I thought I would not be able to leave, but I was informed the battery was not yet installed. I didn't get out of there until 4 pm. Once I arrived home I took a closer look at my receipt and saw that I was billed $85 for a "charging system test" which I did not ask for, nor was it necessary. I then looked under the hood and saw that even though they had my car for 3 hours, they couldn't take a minute to do a courtesy top-off to the power steering fluid and brake fluid, but instead left them at below the low mark. The AAA battery they installed had a black date sticker of 6/24; a one-year old battery.
