We've had lawn and shrub service from Maguire's for several years. My long-standing complaint with…read moreMaguire's was that their agent would spray the lawn and boogie down the road unless I was able to catch him. Three months in a row he didn't spray my shrubs, which led to a serious aphid infestation of my wife's precious hibiscus. Once I moved my home office to the front bedroom, I was able to catch him and have him spray the hibiscus--note we're paying for SHRUB service so he quickly sprays a single shrub because, well--you know--it's time to boogie! The final incident was the cold weather we had in January & February 2026, when a small amount of grass died. That's all it took for the chinch bugs to get started. Now, the three houses next to each other which had beautiful lawns--even if the shrubs were ignored--all have two things in common: Maguire's and serious chinch bug infestations. They failed to apply pest control in February, March, April, and May and then had the gall to tell us via email that they would not replace any chinch bug damaged lawn because it was due to the drought. Except my irrigation system works fine and I water according to the county watering schedule. Oh, and the non-Maguire's treated homes on the block? No chinch bugs because they apply appropriate pesticides monthly. Fortunately for my lawn, I've switched to a good service. The new service is a considerably better value, with us paying $35/month instead of $58/month, a 40% savings! Given the decline in their service over the years I can only surmise that they grew so fast they hired the bottom 10% of applicators instead of the top 10%. Poor service and high prices, a recipe for failure.

If you don't know, these peer to peer cash services provide you no assurances or security, so if you pay ahead and the vendor runs off, there are no consequences for them. They first showed up on Friday, July 1st. They ran over the lemon tree shrubs during their rushed mowing service. I forgave them for that. However, July 15 comes around and they never show up. They charged my mother bi-weekly for a service they never intended to fulfill. Listen, I am a supporter of the small business and business minded people. But these guys are NOT it. When i called on Friday, July 15th in the afternoon wondering why the services paid for were never rendered, I received a response from someone (I assume his wife) claiming that they had completed the job the prior week and being argumentative. She had the gall to put the blame on the client when she realized that the work was not completed the week prior. Crazy town! I could go into this further, but i would digress. I travel for work. I support my parents. I assume this couple saw two older docile folks (not realize a young professional man lived with them in his 30s) and saw an opportunity to get back at "the world". This whole ordeal was my idea to get mowing the lawn off my father's to-do list. Well now, I am left with an unmaintained lawn and I was scammed $45 (lol whoopie, enjoy). I regret having my mom hire these guys. Find a company that has a crew so that if someone goes out early drinking on Friday, others can still complete their commitments.

He no longer landscapes (I.e. cutting hedges & scrubs), but he does edge & weed whack. Paul arrives with a covered trailer attached to his truck-- see pic. "Yard Wars" is painted on its side. The work he performs is excellent. He takes pride in his finished product. He's fast, efficient, reliable & very nice. We spoke at length in my home after I phoned him to inquire about his mowing services, but only after he impressed me for a year w/ the work he had done on multiple neighbors' lawns. The quality of his work far exceeds my former mower's (who has many contracts in my large neighborhood). Other than the Lutz & Wesley Chapel areas, Yard Wars has individual contracts in San Antonio, FL. Definitely a qualified, hard worker whose prices are lower than most -- I researched before phoning him, including hearing how good he is from neighbors who swear by his work.
