So, of course I had to swing by and see this bookstore for myself-- the one where proprietor's wifey is from Lake Oswego, and where a scene of the Help was filmed--- also where Mariah from the book Dispatches from Pluto used to work! Here too was where I got to meet some very special new friends, and I feel it in my heart that I will come back to Greenwood, and to this store again! Gorgeous use of space. An excellent, beautifully curated local bookstore. We loved that the cookbook and local political and racial history sections were so thoughtfully researched-many VERY topical, spirited selections. Whenever I think of my term of service with AmeriCorps NCCC, I always think of quaint bookstores, the ones that you can only find in small towns, and I am reminded of Turnrow Books in Greenwood, Mississippi. This bookstore isn't like your typical store found in a big city, and chances are you haven't been exposed to a bookstore like this if you have never been to a small town. It's just that being in a small town book store provides you with a magical feeling, like stepping back to your childhood and being amazed by your surroundings. When you step into Turnrow, you are exposed to the scent of the pages found in each book, the clean mahogany floors, and the freshly baked goods found in their upstairs bakery. It just smells like a home. The selection of the books is also grand and has some books that you wouldn't regularly find in a major corporate bookstore like Barnes & Noble. I love their picture books, and you are exposed to a whole breadth of knowledge as you gander through each book. What makes a small town store stand out is the service, and Turnrow offers superb customer service. If you do not have enough money on you, you can just open a tab. This applies primarily to the bakery. I remember I was out of cash one time, and they just told me I could come back and pay later. This would not happen in my hometown of Miami, Florida. Overall, Turnrow is a gem of the Mississippi Delta. Outstanding service, clean, open, and a good place to relax. I hope to come back here again if I ever make my way back to the Mississippi Delta. read more

Fantastic little book store. Most of the collection centers around the delta, southern topics, and Mississippi. The staff is very knowledgable and friendly. Many of the copies are signed which makes this a perfect spot for book lovers. Free wifi, etc for those that like to sit and surf. read more

Every delta town has a cozy little bookstore. This is Greenwood's. It's very large, two story, and surprisingly probably has whatever book you're looking for. I couldn't believe how much of a selection this place has! They have a very large children's section. read more

One of the best places to visit in Greenwood. The folks here are very nice, and the upstairs has a casual cafe where you can get coffee or lunch. And the best part is the enclosed back porch where I've enjoyed a cup of coffee or two. They have a selection of books on the local and regional culture/history, something that's hard to find elsewhere, plus autographed books. You'll also find nice prints, paintings, and ceramics from former and current local artists. read more

Turnrow is by far the best book store I've patronized. You need to put this place on your list to visit. Great inventory selection, beautifully appointed, and a lunch cafe upstairs. I could spend an entire day in that store. read more

This place is too cute! The cafe upstairs is huge, relaxing and has free wifi. I came in and got a vanilla latte and worked on my laptop for about two hours and they were nothing but nice! I will definitely be back every time I am in town. read more
