And I just like an activity where I can have all three kids in one place at one time. Mathnasium gets five stars for several reasons. 1) I appreciate the low student instructor ratio. My kids really get individual attention that is based on their individual abilities. 2) Valerie really gets my children. They're quirky and ADHD, but she somehow manages to keep them engaged and on task. 3) The instructors are gentle and kind. Math can be very intimidating for children who struggle with it, and the instructors are patient but persistent without making children feel stupid or inept. 4) The owner, Elizabeth, can't be more accommodating. Hours are flexible. Kids can be there as often as they need. They can tailor a kid's studies to what's going on at school or what might be missing from a kid's school curriculum in preparation for standardized tests. There are great private tutors in Dallas, but if you can't find one that works with your schedule, I HIGHLY recommend Mathnasium!

I am not sure what the staff/teacher there do with the children but they sure like the place & even their weekly homework. Give them a try and see. It is really nice to see that your children will actually sit at the table to do some study other than school work. Lesson is once/week (45 min) for each subject. They go with Allen school holidays so they do have few school closing but I think it's nice (we can take vacation)... My kids have been there for over 8 months and it's always pleasure to drop them and pick them up. There's always place to park and the staff there monitors my kids from running out of there before I'm there. They also have security camera in the classroom & throughout the facility. Overall, it's a nice, friendly & fun place for my kids to go afterschool once/week to get extra help on their English & Math. Check it out!

This place is a Godsend! Our daughter has been going to Grade Power Learning in Garland since…read moreApril - and has improved her reading by over 3 grade levels since she started! Not only that, but she has STRAIGHT A's for the first time since 1st grade! I am so thankful for the team at Grade Power - from their initial testing, they voiced concerns that we already had about our daughter possibly having some learning differences. We had her tested through her school in 2nd grade, and they told us she was ADHD and should be medicated. We disagreed, and didn't medicate, but she continued to struggle in school. Thanks to Grade Power reconfirming our concerns, we got outside testing completed and lo and behold, she is Dyslexic! She has been on a personal tutoring plan at Grade Power and now also has a 504 in place at school to get additional accommodations to help her learn with her learning differences. She even is enjoying reading - something I never thought would happen! AND Grade Power even will attend those meetings with you at school as an additional advocate for your child - AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE! If you have any doubts, feel free to contact me! She plays math games with the instructors, has worksheets, and has a binder specifically for her math based learning. They charge monthly, based on the number of times your child goes. The typical child goes three times a week. It's not crowded at all, and they are open on Saturdays :)

My wife and I are helicopter parents since our daughter is our first born. When selecting a school…read morefor her we toured 11 different schools in Allen, Plano and McKinney. Although Wonderland was the furthest from our house in Allen (20 min each way) and we passed direclty past 4 other schools on our way there every morning we picked Wonderland. For the last two years they have exceeded our expectations every day. Our daughter started when she was just under two. Immediately her vocabulary grew exponentially. She also showed increased focus and started thinking of others, using words like please and thank you routinely. Her social skills improved and her personality blossomed. She was fully potty trained before her 3rd birthday. As she continued to attend she started doing things like getting her own breakfast of berries and cheerios (at 3 years old). EVERY member of the staff truly cares and does their job because they love kids and believe in the Montessori method. The facilities at the school are second to none. Last month we had to move to Austin for my job. Since the move we have toured 7 schools, all more expensive, and none with the staff or facilities Wonderland has. Wonderland is something truly special for kids in McKinney.

I must admit that I made my decision to enroll my child at this school asked off some of the…read morereviews mentioned, etc. the truth of the matter is "Don't believe the hype!" Wonderland Montessori School in McKinney has tremendous factors that I as well as any parent would find intolerable I feel the teachers' appearances should be professional and most importantly appropriate for a school environment. The type of money I've paid for my child's education should respectfully be looked upon as me being a parent with standards. However the kids at Wonderland get to view their teachers with body piercings, see thru provocative shirts and tops, and multiple tattoos over their bodies. The Montessori should be called daycare because of the fact the children are not receiving a quality Montessori curriculum let alone structure. Children are behaving wildly, having complete control over their classroom, hitting teachers as well as other kids with multiple objects, clearly substantiating dismissal from such a "quality" school. There seems to be no planning of events that involve the parents and their kids. Communication is not consistent, let alone any communication of any kind whatsoever. I have found on several occasions staff members not present in specific key areas where they clearly should be. Who holds a conference with parents in the "hallway," who throws events together spur of the moment? Clearly there is no leadership at this school. Clearly there is no set guidelines for the classroom structure and curriculum, and clearly the communication I have rec'd in talking to multiple parents is that we are no longer going to "Wonder" What in God's name is happening at that damn school...Wonderland...and it's no "Wonder" why I like many other parents are headed outta there and enrolling in a proper environment such as Starwood Montessori in Frisco, where my money is being used for a good cause- my kid! Teachers are in uniforms, there is structure in the classroom, the setting is truly a "school-atmosphere." If you are a parent wanting to feel good about your child's education in a Montessori environment you need to steer clear of that circus act called Wonderland!
