Over the years I have attended many funerals for friends and fellow firefighters at Tuttles and always found them to be a very caring funeral home. I have gotten to know Todd Tuddle personally an he and his staff will go out of there way to make the death of your loved one as easy as possible. My mother passed away suddenly a week ago (May 19, 2014). My sister and I are from PA and from the minute we got the call, our world was turned upside down. As the oldest, I knew many of the arrangements would fall to me and I was wondering how I would get it all done and 'hold up' at the same time. Tuttle put every single doubt I may have had about giving my mom everything she deserved to rest from the second I walked through their doors. We met with Ralph, who already had his binder out and ready to go. He had given my brother a list of information to bring with us to the funeral home so we were not caught off guard with a single question. We were given every choice clearly and quickly, and throughout the entire process Ralph was incredibly professional - and more than that, he was truly sympathetic to and mindful of our loss. The bill was itemized and explained in great detail, and no stone was left unturned. He maintained contact with me via phone and email for the next two days, checking in on us and asking if we had any further questions. The night of the wake I knew I would have to be "all business" at the beginning to set up the pictures, the easels, the DVD, and see to any last minute details. I was told to turn around and speak with Michelle, and from the second I explained our wishes, she grabbed the bag I had with me and said, "Don't worry, I've got it." And that was the last I saw of her because everything was done EXACTLY how I'd described it. The night went flawlessly. I am not exaggerating when I say that I was approached by at least 40 different people telling me how beautifully everything went. We were contacted about the sign-in book, prayer cards, thank-you cards and other items within four days (and this was with Memorial Day in the middle) and went to pick them up. Judy met us at the door and had everything ready to go. She gave us extra thank-you cards and laminated prayer cards for no extra charge. The sign-in book was completed beautifully, with floral arrangement cards in an envelope AND typed up on a page for our records. Mass information was included, as was the obituary in the paper and all family information. Judy took us through everything precisely and professionally, then proceeded to talk with me and my father warmly and welcomingly for about 20 minutes after our business was concluded. In a time of incredible sorrow and upheaval, I have no words for how well looked after my mother was and how beautifully that extended to us. Tuttle saw to everything that people don't look forward to seeing to, and exceeded my wildest expectations. I simply cannot thank them enough. read more

I cannot express how disappointed I was with the service at Tuttle Funeral Home. Let me count the ways... We were greeted by an all-male crew who was nothing but cold from the very start. My sister-in-law's death was sudden and she was young. We were all understandably distraught, as most people are when dealing with a death. Our Tuttle greeting was a gruff one, stating that we weren't allowed to bring any food on the premises. Our 4-year-old grandson was forced to eat his cheese sandwich in the car outside before the viewing started, despite the 20-degree temps. At no point did the Tuttle staff extend anything that would remotely touch empathy for our loss. Instead, their focus was on the nitty-gritty details of their funeral home operation, which were clunky at best. The hoops my brother-in-law had to jump through regarding the coffin are a whole other story. He had to return numerous times, miscommunications abounded, it was disgraceful. Our private family viewing was delayed so we had to stand around awkwardly and upset - or eating cheese sandwiches in the car. We had to move the kneeler so the 80-year-old mother of the deceased could get closer to the coffin to kiss her daughter... to which a gruff, loud Tuttle staff member quickly came in and loudly asked "Why was it moved? Do you want it moved back? Why is it moved?" When we couldn't have cared if the kneeler was lit on fire - we had just lost a loved one. And the video/DVD equipment was so antiquated that the three children of the deceased erupted into tears when the video of 250+ photos they had compiled the night before wouldn't play on the equipment provided. One of the deceased's sons had to run home and grab our own DVD player and remote. Exactly what you'd wish for while trying to say goodbye to your mother. The emotionally exhausting six-hour viewing period was topped off by my brother-in-law being ushered into an office to fill out extensive paperwork. Again, just how you'd like to end a day like that while trying to come to grips with the sudden loss of your wife. The final viewing and procession to the church for her funeral the next day were no better. The instructions for where to park, what order to get in and who was getting in what car were laughable - and we didn't have a large party or far to go. AFTER we were all in our cars we were offered umbrellas. And all of her beautiful flowers never made it to the church. I'm sure there are more issues, these are just the highlights that stand out amid a week of sad ceremonies and goodbyes. Tuttle Funeral Home sticks out like a very sore thumb in what should have been a beautiful time spent with family. They did nothing to make us feel comforted, at ease or welcome. They made the entire process seem stiff, cold and clunky. My sister-in-law was a take-charge kind of woman. She didn't stand for BS. I have to think she wouldn't have been pleased with what took place during her final send-off. And my heart grieves for what my brother-in-law and his children had to go through - as if losing your wife and mother isn't enough. I can't speak for my brother-in-law (he's the easiest man alive and his constant motto has been "It's not going to bring her back. It's OK.", but I wouldn't recommend Tuttle Funeral Home to anyone. It's been a while since my mom passed but I thought I would right a short review of this place. We were not pleased by the cold lifeless staff that worked there. My mom was not made up very well. Hair coloring stains on her head among other things. The limo would not come to pick us up because they said it was too far. (Livingston). I'm sorry we picked this place in a hurry but when you're upset and dealing with death you don't always think clearly. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are to many other facilities to pick to have to deal with arrogant people at a funeral parlor. read more

I would like to express my complete displeasure with the way they handled my father's services. They pulled my step-mother into a room at the end of the services, alone and helpless and demand money from her after they were repeatedly asked if they take the assignment of benefits it was heartless and inexcusable. No one from the family knew where she was and she ended up getting left there. I feel like they ambushed her. It was asked on the phone when we made the first call if they take assignment of benefits and we were told yes. It was also asked by family members when they came to make arrangement s and again we were told yes. Then all of the sudden they could not because we were from out of town, it made no sense at all. They knew we were from out of town and obviously, the insurance is from out of town. I was told by family members not to use them because they were mean, I should have listened, and anyone who asks I will tell the same. I feel bad for anyone who puts their trust in your company. It obvious they only care about the money. read more
