Very good and very professional. Would definitely recommend. Prices are decent as well, and employees are exceptional.

    Ask the Community - Inpeace

Can cremated ashes be sent out of state?

Hi Maureen, yes absolutely, we ship ashes almost daily - we can mail ashes via USPS Priority Express anywhere in the US and any country that accepts USPS deliveries.

It's a free event, but a donation of $10/person would be gratefully accepted. Also; advance registration is encouraged, because they need to be sure they'll have enough materials on hand. The program will be held at the meadow near the Main Entrance (which is at Fifth Avenue/25th Street). Side note, I am pretty sure it's free for solo people, but if you go with a large enough group, they have a $5 fee per person, which is reasonable. In general, I would recommend coming here in the fall, not just because the weather will be nicer, but also because the trees are beautiful, and winter is nice as well, due to the frozen lake, among other things. The spring is nice as well, but there are better places to see leaves in bloom, as there are more wintery shrubs here. The area is massive, and you could honestly spend many hours going to various corners. There are highlights such as a well-known view of the Statue of Liberty, many sculptures, and graves for people ranging from Samuel Morse to Boss Tweed to Leonard Bernstein to Louis Comfort Tiffany to Henry Chadwick, among others, along with many people from various wars, of course, such as the civil war with one particularly interesting grave having a confederate and union soldier next to each other for reasons. The place is particularly well-maintained compared to other cemeteries I have been to, with the entrance being striking among other things.

I really can't thank Joel enough for his patience. He showed me what was available and never pressured me into buying anything. When searching for direct cremation services after the death of a loved one, I called three places in Manhattan. Pricing was comparable but the conversations seemed impersonal, cold, and purely transactional. While I'm sure these other places provide fine services, my call to GV Funeral Home was the first conversation that felt warm and personal. They conveyed condolences (which in my experience was not standard protocol amongst others) and expressed a personal interest in my family's needs. By the time I visited to do our paperwork, I had spoken to multiple individuals at their business who all introduced themselves. My father, an older man, was the next of kin, and they took the time to ensure he understood what he was signing. The same level of care over the phone was further exemplified in person. There are many places that offer this type of service, but dealing with funeral directors Gregory and Jennifer reassured me that I was getting the care my loved one deserved. The exceptional level of service at GV Funeral Home helped alleviate the pressure of what is otherwise an incredibly difficult time.
