My wife and I - and about 40 of our friends and 100+ people I didn't know - attended Una Sera Italiano at the Fine Line Music Cafe in Minneapolis. This restaurant/nightclub was rented and a private 5 course meal (with delicious wine) was presented as a private event. I am confident that zero of the 150 people that attended were disappointed. Although it is likely that very few of us would be considered 5-star snobs; we all know good food when we see/taste it and we expect a lot for the money we paid for our ticket. We got more than we paid for. The owner/staff of this restaurant flew in and "took over" the kitchen of this establishment - making Italian food "from scratch" that could not be matched - in Minneapolis or Italy (where I have traveled before). Our menu consisted of: First Course: Scrigno Di Pere (Pear Strudel) - which was delicate and tasteful Eggplant Parmigiana - which was nothing like you would get in the States and one of the most delicious entrees I have ever eaten Second Course: Risotto Al Radicchio - Delicious Risotto paired with radishes - SO tasty! Third Course Tagliatelle Vecchia Maniera - fresh "spaghetti-like" noodles in red sauce with a delicious meat sauce. Tasted much more like beef roast than the "American" red meat sauce that we are used to. I loved it. Fourth Course Lamb in a Crust of Potatoes - prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. Tender, tasty and memorable. Fifth Course Tocchetto Al Cioccolate - Homemade ice-cream with a fudge sauce that was unbelievable When you go to this restaurant, I have no idea if any of these items will be available on that given night BUT I can assure you that I have the utmost faith that the people who run this restaurant will NOT disappoint and you will have the best Italian food (perhaps the best meal) you have ever had. It will be prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. You will also LOVE the people themselves. They are just wonderful. After our meal, they came out to a standing ovation (from 150 people) and marched around to receive a great many thanks and hugs. We landed in this small mountain valley town called San Serverino Marche. As we couldn't get an address for our B and B, we used the address of the number one Trip advisor restaurant, Da Piero's as our GPS point. Oh my, how auspicious! From the second you walk down the curved stairway from the easy to park street level (there is an elevator for those who might want it) we knew that we were about to walk into something very very special. This is a very elegant and sophisticated space. Great care and attention to style and detail has been lavished on this restaurant. It is totally modern and scrupulously cleaned. You could be walking into a five-star restaurant in New York or San Francisco, but no, you are in a family run restaurant far off the beaten path! If you only speak English, then you must ask for PIerLuigi Who is the boss, owner and your new best friend! His English is very good and he will explain everything about the menu and how his wife, mother and three other chefs create some of the freshest and finest food we've ever encountered. Anywhere. And by the way, the difference in price between a meal in this fine establishment and some run of the mill Italian restaurant in Italy is literally a few euros. By the end of your meal you will be spoiled from other Establishments. Every dish we had was fantastic! This is a modern take on local classics. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. The love and attention to detail is totally evident with every plate. Do have some wine. The owners brother produces all of the wines used as "vino della casa" these are delicious and very inexpensive for the quality. If you stay at the B and B we were lucky to book into, "La Villa" and mention this you will be given samples free of charge for all of their wines!! At the end of our meal, PierLuigi called his brother Giovanni (The winemaker) Who spoke to me in good English and invited me to come to the Vineyard and cellars to sample even more wines! Never invasive with the usual rhetorical questions like "is everything ok?" etc. but always prompt and ready to bring you what needed without asking. We ordered several traditional local dishes such as "maccheroncini di Campofilone", "Agnello fritto (deep fried lamb)", "olive all'ascolana (deep fried stuffed olives). All came to the table with great timing and cooked to perfection. Food in general is priced very well. Overall a great experience that I would like to suggest everyone who feels to have something to eat that is genuine, healthy and up to the standards that locals and tradition set for people in order to have a real experience.
