The distance between the sizeable armchairs requires a voice that carries and a conversation topic suitable for public scrutiny.

Cozy place to hang out with the lads. Ok selection and pretty rude waiter. But the ambiance is great and it is definitely worth a visit.

Great place for for some delicious Mexican/South American drinks before or after dinner. We got the…read morespicy margarita and the Paloma which were both excellent. We had dinner reservations across the street at Kagges so we came here right as they opened at 5pm. Would love to have tried their snacks which sounded perfect with our cocktails (like Peruvian corn!) but didn't want to spoil our dinner. We came back after dinner and headed downstairs which we discovered is a late night bar. We enjoyed chatting with the bartender who recommended our next stop to us - Akkurat (amazing selection of on tap beer/pub). Downstairs and in the back is the Flying Elk which is also great with outdoor seating.

I will go through my archives and post what I have from the establishment. The employees were so sweet and truly were the cherries on top regarding our experience here. We had so much fun here we dropped over 400 bucks I feel in American Dollars. One drink we had was the gonzo. The bar manager who was there that day ( my visit was in February 2017) had recently won a Bacardi cocktail competition for Sweden and was be going on to the international competition and if she won, the gonzo would win some notoriety [think same status of staples like rum and coke, vodka tonic, etc etc, along those lines.] The club also sold a few finger foods which I don't recall too much but I do remember them being tasty. All in all pretty pricey bar in a nice area near Gamla Stan. If you need advice on visiting Sweden, go in the springtime or warmer weather as it is an country of several islands and best explored from the water.

But it all have its price, and at this premium located spot, you will pay its price, and you will be happy about it, even though you wont get any gold. It can get pretty crowded later on, so be there in time, to secure your night in glam. A perfect place to start off your night at, or drop in for a cocktail. The atmosphere is great and the ceiling height among with all the other details, will give you the classiness you deserve. Biggest con is that sofas and armchairs provide you too great comfort, so great, that you might end up sitting here all night. Sit down, have a drink, enjoy...

We got a nice chair to sit & very good professional service, they come to your table, take your order & bring your drink to the table. It was perfect for a chat & a drink with a friend. Music is neither too loud nor too crazy ( lounge music) & you get a decent chair to sit & keep your honor (by not having to crowd others in a cramped space at the bar & stretch half way to the other side of the bar to get the bar tender's attention!) The crowd is pretty mixed, there were mature & middle aged people, very young(20+) groups & some couples. If you are looking for somewhere to have a drink & chat (& be able to hear each other!) this is really nice place.

After reading mixed reviews my boyfriend and I were a little hesitant to check this place out, but…read moreI am so glad we decided to keep our reservations. Both of us were looking to try some fish in Stockholm and The Flying Elk's fish and chips did not disappoint! The cod is very well battered and fried perfectly, the fries are great as well, and it all comes with a great curry mayonnaise for dipping. You also get some house-made pickled vegetables that add a great acidity element to the meal! We both enjoyed a couple beers and walked away super satisfied. We originally had reservations for the main dining room, but wanted to check out their "back bar" after doing some research, and I would highly recommend it! The back bar is a little less formal, dimly lit, and gives off a good vibe for relaxing, enjoying a beer, and eating some tasty food. While The Flying Elk is tad pricey I think it's a worth a stop if you're visiting Stockholm!

Like Noma in Copenhagen, Frantzièn is booked for months at a time. Next day, I found his gastropub, the Flying Elk. Here you can sample the cuisine of Stockholm's favorite chef. The space is warm, open windows in summer; it's next to the water-- an optimal space to enjoy the breeze while getting a bite to eat, sample brews, an Aquavit and maybe another dish. And I did just that. For starters I had the Pan fried scallops, truffled scrambled eggs, smoked brown butter, pomme paille, covered with bonito style shaved truffles. Get this. I could have had 3 of these dishes easily. I think this is perfection of sea and earth with layer upon layer of earth manna: scrambled eggs with truffles, brown butter, the thinnest crisp potatoes and to add insult to the experience shaved tuffles on top. The dish wants you think it's Japanese, it's not...but so beautifully earthy, beautifully tasty and beautifully satisfying. My next dish the Veal Schnitzel Björn Frantzén: veal with triple cooked fries, roasted anchovy butter, red wine jus and sorrel salad was a symphony of taste contrasts: the panko-crisp texture of the veal with red wine jus (grapey delicious sauce albeit slightly overcooked cutlet), roasted anchovy butter with triple cooked fries (crisp into unctuous browned butter with a hint of anchovy) and the nicely tart (and teasingly pungent) sorrel salad. For dessert: "Eton Mess" Vanilla ice cream w/ raspberries & pink pepper meringue, strawberry & hibiscus mousse scented with roses . This was my fave dessert this trip. It's not just vanilla ice cream, it's amazingly well made silky yet subtle vanilla ice cream, that framed the summer raspberries; you scoop the strawberry/hibiscus mousse with a slightly pungent pepper meringue, the complex crumbles on your palate and you swear you've never had anything like this. The flower petals and dried raspberries on top of this "mess" sealed this dish for me as one my favorite desserts ever. A sauterne and a coffee later, the day seemed perfect. I loved this dish so that on one of my other visits to Gamla Stan, I ordered it to go, to seal the flavors in my memory as we strolled through the cobbled streets of this magnificent city, giddy. Loved it. Coming back. Visits: 2 Tip: Come hungry.
