In the 70s, Olssons Skor used to be a porn shop called Olssons Video, and up until recently, the bar retained the name Olssons Video. Only recently did it change it's name to Olssons Skor because it also used to be a shoe store. So this porn shop gone shoe store gone dive bar still retains it's old neighborhood porn shop charm. The inside is 70s-tastic with a huge lit Manhattan skyline mural, a dance floor, an aquarium, and a disco ball. The folks that come here come for the express purpose of getting sloshed, dancing, sucking face with a random, and taking them home, and frankly, Stockholm needs more of these places. Unfortunately with the name change, they removed the stripper pole that graced the dance area. With evolution comes change I suppose. So that's Olssons Skor. Don't say I didn't warn you

I went to Olssons Skor with a company After Work party, and was not too impressed. There is a faint smell of an old snooker hall and it lacked some character. We were there around 9pm on a Thursday. Strange as the street this place on has some fantastic bars and restaurants, so not sure if this is a bit dated, was having a bad night or I just have picky tastes. Decent selection of drinks and cocktails, good seating area, a DJ and a giant fish tank in the window.

The place is not too big, so you may need to give enough space so people can move, which can be a little annoying if you are having a conversation, but that's the vibe of the bar so embrace it. Want me to tell you a secret? Can you see that little set of stairs going down? You should adventure yourself and find out. I came here with a friend and we got to listen to a very cool band. Downstairs you will find a little concert venue, and another bar. The only thing missing were people dancing, the song was too good to be standing there, but I understand that Swedes need a couple of drinks before they can hit the dance floor. The place reminded me of a venue I used to go in my early 20's, and I had lots of fun. Beers are affordable, music is good and you are in for a fun night.

With a suitably titled range of drinks, cocktails and more to match, Pet Sounds bar is one of my favourite places to be at night in the Swedish capital. Half bar, half restaurant, I am as yet to try out the latter half of this cool night spot, but if the drinks are anything to go by there is no doubting that it will be fine and delicious. There isn't masses of space to sit, between bar stools, window seats and a few tables, without moving into the restaurant portion of the venue. Anyhow, if you need a place to drink with great cocktails and a super atmosphere, then look no further, and if you require a fat slab of vinyl at the same time then, drop by early enough and you can hit up the music shop too. I went to the bar to ask if we were supposed to order there or if they had table service. The bartender said she would send someone over. I'm from America and PBR is the cheapest lowest quality beer. You could possibly buy. A 16 ounce tall boy is about three dollars in most clubs and five at a high-end club. The bar is a standout for the drinks, the trademark Swedish charisma and genuine warmth. As a side, shout out to Sweden for having the nicest, most welcoming people in the world. We were given a standing table when we got in, but quickly moved to a couple of seats by the bar. We were one of 8 couples at the bar, so yes, very date night vibes. For our first round of drinks, we got the Easy Martini and Let them Eat Cake. The latter was too sweet for our liking but the Easy Martini had the perfect amount of sweet and tart. Our second round was the winner with the Girl Dinner and their Old Fashioned. The Girl dinner was crafted to perfection and possibly the best version of a martini we've ever had. The old fashioned too, made with WhistlePig 10 years was fantastic. The service cannot be faulted, we profusely thanked the lovely bartender, vowing to crow about it to whoever cares to listen and to be back when we are in Stockholm next.
